We hired Gerard to get what we thought was an unbiased opinion on my Moms foundation issues based on his information on Yelp. After meeting with his associate that he sent to our house, Gerard did not personally come, and then getting the report that Gerard sent from his associates findings, it is very apparent that Gerard is in business with a tree root barrier company. He does not offer an unbiased opinion. This is my main concern with Gerard is that how he presented and charges for his services, is not actually what you are getting. I was charged $380 for what I thought was an unbiased opinion and when I voiced my concerns with Gerard and asked for a refund, I was told "as Judy says, if you eat the steak, you pay the cost". My other concerns: the person who came to the house was late and rude. When we were asking questions, he would yawn exaggeratedly as though he did not want to be there and even said "I have other places to be". This is all after he spent over 3 hours at our house inspecting it- we were not told how long to expect him to be there and was not planning on it taking so long. Gerard also texted me at 5:58 in the morning to ask a question, waking my husband and myself up. He obviously has no respect for his customers and their time (early morning text and his colleague showed up late to appointment). As an update: If you are not in business or have a financial connection with this specific landscaping company, how can you warranty the work between the two companies? Why would an unbiased company with no connection take on that risk? I have attached a screenshot of the report that says this. I asked for a refund only after receiving your report that is obvious a biased opinion and that is not how you presented your services on Yelp. I have received biased opinions from engineers at foundation companies for free. I kept my end of the deal and paid you for a service I thought I was getting- an unbiased opinion on what foundation issues we were having. You did not keep you end of the deal and are scamming people. Also, maybe you should proof read your emails before you send them, that way I can get a full understanding of the Judy and steak comment. Gerard came at the recommendation of another engineering firm once it was determined my scheduling needs were not able to fit with their availability. I contacted Gerard and within a few back and forth messages was able to get an appointment. Darrell Bowles was the P.E. who came out to do the measurements and inspections. Specifically we noted separation in an expansion joint as we as cracks along our window trim, one interior wall and tile flooring. The appointment was scheduled for 2 PM on a Tuesday, as Gerard sets appointment times the nights before to optimize the routes and schedules of inspections for the following day. Darrell showed up within 5-10 minutes of our appointment and immediately went to work completing a detailed measurement and inspection of the outside of our home. After about 1.5 hours he came inside and went through his measurement and inspections in about 3 hours. Darrell did and excellent and very thorough job and discussed his finding at the end of his inspection. He seemed abundantly detailed and did his best to work around my wife and I as he completed his work. After the appointment and the preliminary findings, Gerard reviewed Darrells notes and sent us a report with his conclusions and recommendations for remediation. He made a contractor recommendation for the work that needs to be done. I would absolutely recommend Gerard and his team for other homeowners/business that need inspection and measurements from a structural engineer.
