He does have Yelp reviews for…read morehis SF office which varied at both ends of the spectrum-either they loved him or didn't at all, which made me wary myself after my mom's last physician that was recommended by her doctor that retired. I went to see for myself and to give my own opinion. Wow-what a big difference between doctor offices and the doctor himself! The LAST previous doctor my mom (see my previous reviews on the former doctor) had a chaotic office and that doctor was a rude bully (and they are only a block away from this doctor!). BUT THIS Dr. Chao and his office was totally different! First, there is plenty of parking in the back and some street parking in the front (although there is construction nearby taking up many parking spots in the street). His office is small, but when you go in, it was sooooo calm! I don't know if it is always like this, but it was relaxing unlike our previous doctor. The staff were kind, helpful and explained things to sign and they speak English well and also spoke Cantonese and Mandarin as well. They seemed organized and able to retrieve her medical records online through the Sutter system and brought up her latest labs. The doctor was gentle, calm and looked over everything and seemed thorough. My mom was relaxed instead of intimidated by the other doctor she had previously who actually often shouted at her(can you believe that!?). She immediately liked this doctor much better lol and I did, too! Of course, I will update with subsequent visits to assure this one is a good doctor overall. BTW, TIP #1: I called the main number of the Sutter Health to find a doctor and was told all of their doctor lists were closed and not taking any Medicare patients (so basically elderly-maybe limited spots bc the govt/Medicare pays less which is terrible!). And in that area it is difficult to find doctors that are open to Medicare at all-all closed lists! And that was in January 2025 at the beginning and the lists were already closed! So if you can find the dr office number is the only way we got through (note this is hard bc many Sutter doctors are connected through the main Sutter number directly). We only got it through my mom's friends who are patients already! TIP #2: Yelp is how I find everything including Doctors. BUT another great tip I can give is go by word of mouth especially a friend who has a direct care experience with a physician! And then bypass that Sutter or any hospital direct insurance line and call that doctor directly to get in! Don't give up! WE are soooo glad we found a good, and what seems to be like a competent doctor! Knowing the healthcare industry and my share with working with doctors, I will update as needed-good or bad,but so far, looking good! Thank goodness! I am only giving 4 stars just because it is in the beginning and i have more to assess and explore so not a perfect score yet-has to be earned first! BUT a GOOD solid start!

She got me scheduled on the day/time I requested. I had a 9:30am Saturday appointment. Though they do validate parking, I decided to take BART because SFO's parking lot is overwhelming. When you get out of the BART turnstiles, walk straight, and make a right once you see the International Terminal. Once you make that initial right, the clinic is all the way at the end of the aisle towards the restrooms. This was my first time at this clinic, so I had to fill out about three forms. They weren't extremely extensive, but be prepared to fill out forms (it is a medical facility after all). I was greeted within five minutes of completing my forms, and my appointment went really well. I was expecting to tell the nurse what I needed, get some shots, and be on my way. But -- she ended up giving me A LOT of information for my trip. It was super informative and greatly appreciated. If I ever need to get another set of vaccinations/immunizations, I'll definitely come back here.

Ok, so I heeded her advice and made an appointment. I took BART, exited at SFO, walked through towards the International Terminal and followed the signs to the medical clinic - it was pretty easy to find, ask someone if you get turned around. I walked in a few minutes early, filled out all my general paperwork, confidentiality forms, etc, sat and waited a few minutes. I was called in before I knew it. The lady had all of the immunization guidelines for Vietnam on hand, talked me through the recommended shots, went through my immunization history and we agreed on what I would receive. She went out for a couple minutes and then came back armed with all my shots ready to administer. She talked to me to distract me while administering my shots (because who enjoys getting shots, right?) and told me what to expect regarding any mild pain or possible side effects. She had me fill out a reminder card to come back in 6 months for one of my shots. She was knowledgeable and friendly. It was pretty simple, painless (well, almost) and done within 30-45 minutes. Pay your co-pay, the rest is sent to your insurance if you have it, or billed to you directly. I'm glad I followed my friend's advice! I hopped back on BART and was on my way home in no time.
