Watch out for a very rude receptionist. With this first impression, she has chased away a new customer over the phone. I am sure that I am not the first or the last customer who turns away from her rude, impatient & sarcastic attitude. She seems to forget that we are not in Hong Kong or China, that she can bark her sarcastic comments over the phone. Perhaps she thought that I could only speak Cantonese Chinese & I had no choice but to be submissive to her terrible customer service. In the SF Bay Area, there are many other Medical Spas with bilingual doctors, receptionists & customers. When my friend, who has paid thousands of dollars for several treatments, referred me to this Simon Med Spa, I was interested in trying it for 'self-pay' or out-of-pocket cosmetic treatments. This review is for the curly hair front desk woman staff on duty on 9/28 Sat. morning shift at Burlingame. Horrible experience! We came in to pick up the green card medical exam report. She gave us some paperwork to review and we noticed that the phone number was wrong on the form. She corrected it and had us re-review and sign. We should be done at that moment but in the meantime, there was another guy who came after us. She switched gear to help him instead while making us wait. And here is how she messed up his paperwork and we witnessed everything: 1. Got A number wrong on his form 2. Got phone number wrong TWICE, even after he pointed out once in front of her 3. Mis-spelled "United Kingdom" LOL. I can see him shaking his head. The worst part is while she was retyping and reprinting the forms 4+ times for this guy who came AFTER us, she just made us wait on the side the whole time! Finally when I asked her when the report is going to be ready, she gave me a "Shhh" hand gesture. I was like WTF?!??! Do not "Shhh" your customers while you do not know how to prioritize and kept messing up simple things. Your incompetence in filling out forms already pissed off your UK customer and you just pissed off another customer by making them wait because of YOU being disorganized and incompetent. Avoid this place at all costs. Can't trust them even with such simple things. Do not recommend. read more

My wife and stepson needed their medical papers upgraded after their Green Card interview. It was very easy to make an appointment with Dr. Lee. After a 10 to 15 minute wait, he saw them. Dr. Simon Lee was a doctor in my network, and served as my general practitioner for one appointment. I'll revisit my experience through my review. The receptionists were responsive (not welcoming nor lazy). I was able to schedule my appointment after 2 different phone calls. I showed up 15 minutes before my 10AM appointment, but upon arrival was pushed back to 1015AM. The doctor is nice, and very poised. I imagine he would have explained more of his results to me if I spoke Chinese. He was trying to explain his procedures in English, and even paused to ask me if I spoke Chinese. Unfortunately, I did not, so he remained fairly quiet throughout the check up. He sent my blood sample to the lab, and said he'd discuss the results with me over the phone at a later time. I was unable to connect with him to discuss the results despite calling his office. Before the examination began, I asked him to please only perform procedures that are covered by my insurance as I did not want to incur any additional charges. He performed what he described as a routine glaucoma test where he checks the pressure of my eyeballs. Although I asked about the billing charges at the end of the exam, he said he'd bill me later. He pushed through an additional $56 for the glaucoma test. Luckily, my insurance called them and his receptionist immediately rescinded the charge without hesitation (I assume they always bill more, and then rescind if followed up on?). Good doctor, but I will try to find another doctor who can better suit my preferences. read more

Both Dr Lee and Dr Tam are awesome! They have been my parent's primary care physician for over 3 years now and my parents love them. They are super responsive to all their needs and the office staff are all so polite and helpful. My parents moved from The City to San Jose recently and my parents wanted me to figure out how they can continue to see Dr Lee despite changes to their insurance. As a healthcare worker myself, I know what is good customer service when I see it and this office definitely provides excellent service. Here are just a few examples: my dad was not feeling well last Saturday morning and I emailed Dr Lee's office in the morning. Doctor responded within the hour. Just yesterday, I had to bring my dad to the lab to get tests done during my lunch hour, but some coding was wrong. I was in a rush, but was able to reach the office and Dr Lee was able to fix the error right away so that I didn't have to come back. I really appreciated that! One more example just to show how thoughtful Dr Lee is to the elderly patient. My Mom's friend also goes to see Dr Lee in his San Francisco office. He personally walked her to the specialist's office to get an appointment. These are the little touches that make this office so wonderful. Thank you to everyone at the office for all that you do! Doctor Simon Lee is my primary. Moved to SF Bay from the East Bay and glad I found him online. Dr. Lee is intelligent but a bit too quiet, he lets you talk about your symptoms, and doesn't talk back or ask too many questions, he just nods his head and says okay. He jots down your symptoms on your personal file, then concludes with a prescription on-hand. A simple Doctor, with many informative documents for your health concerns, but not very talkative. My husband and I visited here briefly a couple of years ago for our green card application. The process was pain free and fast. His documentation was solid and we were very happy with the results. Few weeks ago, my parents came here to visit us from overseas. My dad had a really bad gout attack and could not walk (he was literally crawling out from his room in the morning). We took him in and the doctor managed to squeeze in a spot for him on the same day. We saw the doctor around lunch time. Simon was gentle and thorough. He does care and tailor the treatment to each family's situation, which we truly appreciated. After taking the prescription, my dad's symptoms were greatly improved on the same day and was fixed within 2 - 3 days! While waiting to see the doctors, my dad stroke few conversations with patients in the waiting area. It seems that the patients here are all very happy with Dr. Lee, which is really a good sign. One point deducted for the decore and small waiting area of the office. The practice gets very busy very quickly, so it may seem to be not very organized and could be a little chaotic. But if you can get pass that, the doctor himself is awesome. Also, Dr. Lee has a practice in SF as well. So he is in Burlingame location only part of the week. Staff and Dr. Lee speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. read more

I had moved and saw Dr. Lee was in my area and was accepting new patients so I set Dr. Lee as my primary care physician with my health insurance. However, when I called to make an appointment the nurse asked what type of insurance I had and said they were not accepting new patients. This place picks and chooses the type of insurance to take patients. To Dr. Lee- if you don't want to accept certain insurance then just inform that insurance company that you will not use them because you don't get paid enough. Please don't have patients sign up and reject them. I eventually went to urgent care and paid $75. Now I have to spend probably another 30mins to change my PCP. read more

My elderly mother had a 10 am appointment today. We arrived before 10 and checked in. It is now 11:37 and we are still waiting to see doctor Lee. How could a 10 am appointment run over an hour and a half late? How overbooked is the doctor? The office opens at 9. I was looking for a civil surgeon for my medical examination and came across Dr Simon Lee here at yelp. It's a good thing I didn't rely on the negative review here at his Burlingame office, as he was the opposite! He is a very mild mannered, soft spoken Chinese doctor who was quick in my procedure. He went through with my medical exam smoothly and gave me the necessary vaccines. The results were in after a couple of days. His office also charges minimally ($250 all in all) and the receptionists are friendly and even apologetic after a 10-15minute wait (I have waited for hours in other doctors' offices). They only accept cash though, but it's still much affordable than other civil surgeon's rates. And Dr. Simon Lee is an assistant professor at UCSF (I think) so how could you go wrong with him? Went for our immigration medical exam and all went smooth so far. They are out right about cost involved and no hidden costs all properly disclosed up front so I would call it a no-nonsense place (those simpler times). Dr. Lee and his staff are all up to date with with I-693 forms, norms and formalities. I advice to take their all inclusive pricing option and take all your vaccine records and it seems to be * a very reasonably priced * place in Peninsula. I happily recommend this place for immigration formalities, even more so if you are Asian descent. read more

If you have a preference to speak Mandarin, then come here- if not, I would avoid it. This office is more to fill out immigration papers than to treat people. Their staff is messy and late with papers and files all over the place. Even in exam rooms, there' were used needles not properly disposed or contained. Every time I asked about an issue, Dr Lee barely responded and just said, "I can write you a prescription" and would not explain the prescription. I somewhat question their medical experience, but really they just default to writing on any prescription on a medical pad and stamp for immigration forms. I wouldn't recommend. .unless that's exactly what you're looking for. read more

Horrible doctor. I have been sick for a few days, constant vomitting and trips to the bathroom. I came to his practice place hoping he could help. I explained my conditions to him, yet I only received one word answers which I found unhelpful and of which I have already known possible reasons for my sickness. He did not even checked me once and did not even bother to ask for any kind of information needed to determine my illness. In the end of my quick 5 minute visit, he just gave me a prescription for my stomache. I think he doesn't really care about his patients and just want money. read more
