I had my arthroscopic knee surgery here and everyone were pretty nice . The place was really cold and they weren't stingy with the blankets.. I checked in and everything was very timely, I think I was out of there in like maybe 3 hrs maybe less. My experience at Campus Surgery Center was exceptional particularly because of Dr. Jon Churnin. I have never met a more skilled, compassionate and thorough anesthesiologist in any of the surgeries I've had and I've had quite a few. I am so thankful for this facility and can't say enough good about it. I have now had two surgeries here and both times have had a great experience, under the circumstances of course. The staff is professional, welcoming and very patient. No one enjoys having surgery but the folks here understand that and make it as pleasant and easy as possible. I feel so fortunate that both my surgeries this past year have been performed at this facility. One was with local anesthetic and the second was general anesthestic, the staff involved with both procedures were excellent, the surgery team was really great with the local anesthetic procedure, there was no pain and they kept me very comfortable. The second procedure, I was under the care of Dr. Park (ortho surgeon), and Dr. White (anesthesiologist), who took wonderful care of me. I had no side effects from the anesthesia. I was followed up, by phone, by both Dr. White and Dr. Churnin the next day. I felt very well taken care off. read more

Nice staff but one thing I won't forget is that anesthesiologist really messed my throat up. Last minute their anesthesiologist was used. I compare how my throat felt when I got another procedure where my throat did not feel that bad. I got that at a reputable hospital in the area. Also if something goes wrong at a surgery center good luck to you. My blood pressure was high and my procedure shouldn't have gone through. I ended up having afib after the procedure at campus surgery center. read more

I count my blessings that I've had a fairly healthy life. Unfortunately, I had an issue with my hip and needed arthroscopic surgery to fix it. I'm always nervous when it comes to general anesthesia, but everything here went so smooth, I can't believe I was nervous. I received several pre-op calls from both the center and the anesthesiologist, and they called me the day of to let me know they were running a little behind and that I could stay home longer before the surgery. Once I got there, everything was pretty efficient. Snow took care of me upon arrival, and once I was prepped with my IV, my husband came in to say good luck and I was off to the operation room. Last thing I remember is the anesthesiologist saying it was going to sting a little as they injected the anesthesia, and then I was waking up in the recovery area. I wish I could remember the name of the lovely person that helped me after the surgery, but she was great and very funny talking about futbol vs. football with me and one of the other staff members. Absolutely adored her. So glad that my surgery went so smooth. Now just have to finish the recovery and I'll be good as new. read more

Great medical service, but terrible billing. I had a minor procedure in January 2016. Everything went well and the staff was excellent. From the standpoint of their treatment, it was five stars all the way. However, their billing is another story. First, I was significantly overcharged at the time of my procedure. This is understandable, but I never got a bill correction from them. Out of the blue, I received a refund check with no explanation in late January 2017, over a year after the procedure. I had to call their billing office in the midwest to find out that I'd been charged over twice what I should have been. How nice for them to earn interest on my money for a year. To boot, the check I was sent had been misprinted and was not accepted by my bank for deposit. I called the billing office and they tried to get me to mail the check back. Since this is their problem, I refused, so they are voiding the check and will supposedly send me another check sometime in March. We'll see. While the office that handles billing is in another location, Campus Surgery Center is nonetheless responsible for making sure their patients are billed accurately and that adjustments are handled promptly. I'm sure if I had been underbilled, they would have promptly demanded payment. read more

I had the ankle surgery at this center and it went very well. Thanks to everyone from the front desk receptionist to doctors and nurses. All of them were very kind and professional. Special thanks to Dr. White, my anesthesiologist and his team. He did an excellent job, gave me all the detailed instructions and made my surgery so easy that I don't remember anything. I was originally going to have my surgery at St Francis Hospital and was disappointed when I was told that the date did not work and that I was going to have to go the Campus Surgery Center. I really had to reason to be concerned or disappointed. I received excellent care from the staff. I was put at ease during the pre-op exam and felt that the staff really took the time to explain what was going to occur on the day of my surgery. On the day of my surgery, everyone was pleasant, comforting and professional. My anesthesiologist explained the sedation process, answered all my questions and made me feel as if I was the only patient she had today. Post op nurse was fantastic. I felt cared for and not a number. I I ever have to have another surgery I would request that it be performed at Campus Surgical Center. read more

Who goes to a surgery center twice in the same few months? People with a bunion on each foot to be removed, that's who!!! I'm not a fan of knives, needles, or bandages, but this team did a great job of handling my wife's surgery and of handling ME, her supportive and completely nervous-wrecked husband. From the intake, where they clearly and concisely reviewed each piece of paper in plain English, to the release, where they called me up 30 minutes before it was time to come and get her, they communicated well and with a minimum of jargon and hospital-ese. All of the staff I interacted with went out of their way to make sure our questions were answered and even did a follow up call after each procedure to make sure there were no new questions. When I did call up at one point with an issue, they were quick to answer and followed up AGAIN to make sure everything was still ok. The only drawback was the lack of wheelchair room on one side of the parking area. There are two parking spots right outside the recovery area, and if you get the one on the left, no problemo because the passenger door opens easily onto the handicap access ramp. If you get the OTHER one, the passenger door opens onto the bushes. It was solved with some creative backing up, but I would definitely re-line the parking spots or tear out those bushes and add a ramp to that side. Bottom Line: You put your right foot in, they cut the bunion off...you put put your left foot in, they cut that one off too...you do the hokey-pokey! (but only after suitable recovery time has elapsed and the doctor says it's ok to do so...) read more

I had my elbow procedure today and it was a great experience from start to finish. Special thanks to my nurse SNOW BARBA who did a great job with my IV!! No pain and she's very gentle and caring. She always had a smile on her face and always prepared .i highly recommend her!! IT WAS SUCH A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE FROM CHECKING IN TO RECOVERY!! THANK YOU SNOW!! Special thanks to my Anesthesiologist Dr. JOHN CHURMIN who gave me just the right amount and I didn't throw up after! Such a sweet guy!! Dr. SHABI KHAN was my orthopedic surgeon and I highly recommend him as well! He made me feel very comfortable and made sure I knew everything from the consultation to the surgery day. I had a tonsillectomy at Campus Surgery Center and it was a great experience. Everyone at the center is helpful, caring, and good at what they do. Everyone from the front desk staff to nurses and the anesthesiologists took time to answer my questions and make sure I was comfortable with my procedure. Both the anesthesiologist that helped me (Dr White) and the head anesthesiologist (Dr Churnin) gave me their cell phone numbers in advance of my surgery in case I had any questions over the weekend. Both also called me the day after surgery to check on me. Dr White did a great job with my anesthesia. It was a seamless process and I woke up quickly after surgery and had no adverse reactions. I've had two medial meniscus tears repaired this year and Dr. Khan and his team took great care of me. The staff at the surgery center are efficient and pleasant to work with. I had Dr. Churnin as my anesthesiologist for my first procedure and Dr. Frank for my second. Both were excellent and I reacted fine to both (just a little mouth dryness from the first and grogginess from the second). Rehan was also the PA for both of procedure and he is super sweet as well. What I appreciate most is that everyone called me that following evening after my surgery to see how I was doing and to answer any question I may have. I do hope I am fortunate enough to not have to come back again but if so, I know I'm in good hands. read more

Dr. Churnin the anesthesiologist is amazing! I met with him before my surgery and he explained the process and we had a talk about my fear of needles. Of course the day of it did not go as smooth and he ended up having to do 3 IVs but the third one was while i was asleep because the AC wasn't ideal. He was amazing and patient even tried the laughing gas but that's not my cup of tea. He did do a lidocaine shot to make it not as painful. The nurses are professional and supportive. It seems like everything went smooth and I felt safe and comfortable !! read more

EVERYONE from the front desk personnel who checked me in to the various RN's I had and multiple MD's I had were ALL amazing. They were professional and caring, thorough, patient and so very kind. I almost hated to leave when they released me! Having surgery is always a little scary but the staff at Campus make it better!! It is so rare to go anywhere where everyone is wonderful. you usually have to deal with a bunch of duds and hope for a couple decent people. At Campus the entire staff is A+!!!!! I was disappointed that my surgeon only operates out of this facility which I didn't know until I had made the appointment. I assumed it was in network but apparently it wasn't. When I received my hefty bill, I called to ask if I could make payments. I was told I could but I had to pay the entire bill in six months or else I was going to be sent to a collection agency. I tried unsuccessfully to ask if there was any other way and was told repeatedly 'no'. The services I received where good as expected, however, this experience with the billing department left a bitter taste in my mouth. Lesson learned, ask your surgeon what facility he uses before committing to anything. read more

Husband having surgery. Doctor told me to get meds right away. Pharmacy advertised that it's open at 8:00am - Monday through Friday. I was there right at 8:00am and no one was there. A staff member walked by and said they are NEVER open at 8:00am. When I went back to the waiting room, they told me the Pharmacy won't open until 9:00am. Ggggrrrr!! They need to change their signs to reflect the correct time. Now I have to make my husband wait (after having surgery) until the Pharmacy is open. Very frustrating!! read more

Make sure to stay away from Dr Joseph Lee My brother had surgery there. His horrible experience from this surgical center was because of the anesthesiologist Dr Joseph Lee. He was so arrogant. Had no compassion and made a huge mistake on the medications resulting in 4 times the dose of the medication he was supposed to get . My brother was supposed to recover within 1 to 2 hour after his procedure, but instead he was out for 3 days! 3 days of discomfort he had to go through. His surgeon was nice. People in the front desk and the nurse took care of him before surgery was nice. But the nurse took care of him after the surgery can use a more compassion too. read more

My husband was scheduled for shoulder surgery. We went for a preop visit, and were horrified by this place. The office was in total disarray, people and files everywhere, including on the floor. The people working inside were disheveled, and the receptionist appeared annoyed by our arrival, handed us a clipboard full of forms to fill out and to us to "go ahead and go outside to fill them out." While we were on the third and final form, the doctor came out, took the incomplete forms, and told my husband he needed to hurry and get downstairs for a blood test, and EKG before they closed. After the ten minute sprint to accomplish both, we were back and led into the doctors office. File boxes everywhere, including on the floor with no room to move and the only flat surfaces not piled were the doctors' chair and two others for patients. We were discussing the proceedure, when a woman pushed through the door to rummage through files interupting important information that was being exchanged. The surgery will be canceled today. The dishelved, rude and uninterested employees in this poorly run office have ruined any confidence we could possibly have in having surgery there. Our veterinarian's office is cleaner and better managed. read more

This is the second surgery I've had at this facility. In 2015 I had right shoulder rotator cuff surgery. Today Dr. Paul Hughes operated on the left shoulder. This is a great facility! It is clean, comfortable,very professional a nd caring staff. Nobody wants to have surgery, but the staff at Campus Center what could be a stressful experience good. My aunt has had to come here twice a year for the last few years, and not once has this staff been on time. I do understand that surgery and other invasive procedures aren't something you can guarantee a timeframe on. But she is 9 times out of 10 the very first appointment of the day. Which means we have to get there at around 6am. And, yet, every time they're late. I'm almost grateful that they're at least consistent. The doctor we see here is great. The nurses that I've met are nice. But I swear I've never seen a group of front office people gossip this much rather than work. There is one nurse in particular that can't seem to talk and work at the same time. And every time someone comes out to the front area, she stops what she's doing to gossip in "hushed" tones about the coworker who most recently went into the Post-Op area. Which is pretty annoying when you're waiting for a family member to come back from surgery. Maybe I'm sensitive, but I would even go so far as to say she's downright disrespectful. I get this is your work place, lady, but some of us are a little distraught out here. We don't need to hear multiple times about how one of your coworkers "totally ignored" your "hello in the hallway." They probably didn't hear you. Please move on with your life. I'm not kidding, this went on while there was screaming coming from the Post-Op area. read more

Why we kept on bringing patients to Dr Villanueva. Well, my answer is plain and simple. I only want the best service for my relatives. And I can only get it in this surgery center. If you want a procedure performed at a facility that could not care less about your time, go to the Campus Surgery Center. They make you show up an hour and a half before your appointment. Why? To write your name and address on the consent form and then sit in the waiting room. Oh, they run on time! It's not like they're too busy or behind schedule. They just make you wait for absolutely nothing! Tell your doctor you want to go somewhere else. He's portable, you're portable; don't waste your time sitting around for nothing! read more

Kudos to Dr Churnin and Dr Paul Hughes! The best combo anesthiologist and surgeon! Everyone at the surgery center was great. The admit nurses were professional and kind and the operating nurse held my hand while I went to sleep! My only negative comment is that after surgery the area was busy and noisey. A nurse named Shelly was kind of rude and condescending to the nurse taking care of me. I felt embarrassed for both of them. Otherwise, the care was good and I would recommend the surgery center to my friends. read more

I was very impressed with campus surgery! I went in for foot surgery (bunionectomy and several other additional fixes I can't remember the technical names of) with dr. Nguyen of financial district foot and ankle in San Francisco. The nurses at Campus surgery Center : Snow, Courtney and Rowena who helped me in the pre op, surgery room, and and post op (and I'm sure there were others while I was sleep) were all very friendly, efficient and explained things they were doing! The check in and check out process was easy and efficient. The week before the center called me twice to make sure I understood everything. dr churnin, my anesthesiologist was great, has a warm, humorous bedside manner and was also very good at explaining things. This was my second visit to the Center, the first being many years ago. Basically, I was treated like visiting Royalty! Found the entire staff to be warm, friendly, and attentive in almost family manner. Dr. Kahn evidently did a wonderful bit of work, however due to the expertise of Dr. Churnin, was not "present." The pre & post op phone calls by both physicians contributed to my confidence in them and were real morale raisers. read more
