Fantastic surgery center. I've had 6 surgeries here and husband has had 1. Everyone is soooo personable and caring - the nurses, anesthesiologist, and doctors associated with this place are fantastic. I, was in a car accident and was referred to soar surgery and it was. The best referred I'm so very grateful to the quality of care. That the doctor's gave me, doctor Brennan and doctor Hothem they're great doctor's but the most important thing was. The Quality of care that I received from my nurse, Ramona, she was great on making sure that I , was taken care of in every way I'm very grateful to my nurse. This is a new facility and is easy to find. The place is spacious and spotless and the furniture, etc., is all in great shape. The receptionists are all polite and efficient, as is the medical staff. One of the medical staff is Justin, HE IS GREAT. He's friendly, reassuring and efficient. My physician, Dr Stefan Chin, is friendly and informative. I would 100% recommend this facility. read more

I was forbidden to take pain medication for days prior to my major shoulder surgery. I hadn't slept but a few hours in the days prior to my surgery because of the pain. I was almost a zombie when I walked into Soar Surgery Center. Imagine my surprise when I was called to the front desk to pay for the use of the center In ADVANCE. I KNEW the center was in-network with my Anthem insurance. From my perspective they extorted nearly $3,000 from me when I was at my weakest. Why they did not process my medical expenses through my insurance...like EVERYONE else...I do not know. They ended up over-charging me by about $2000. I was/am angry. The overcharge was identified by ME. The Refund was Slow in coming. I had to call them about 4 times to re-request the refund. I considered the financial aspect of the experience unseemly, greedy...and unnecessary. I would give fewer stars...but the medical staff was kind, professional, and attentive and the surgery, though major, went well. read more

I cannot say enough good things about how my surgery went when I had two torn meniscus. From the moment I walked in I was treated like royalty. Easy to fill out the forms and then I was taken back to put on the gown and lie on the pre-op bed. Someone was with me constantly and they immediately brought me a hot toasty blanket. The surgery was amazingly easy. Hats off to Ariana the RN in the recovery room, Katie the RN in preop, Mikayla RN in pre-op, and Kelli an RN. Dr. Joe Donahue was my amazing surgeon. Please, STAY AWAY FROM THIS SURGERY CENTER!!!! To begin with, I had my surgery before a holiday, so it is possible that this was not the routine staff. Regardless, the staff was extremely unprofessional. 1. The nurses made fun of a medication I took. It made me very uncomfortable. 2. I told the nurse I was very nervous and asked that my mom come from the waiting room. They said they couldn't have her there during prep, but that would get her in ten minutes. They then gave me a sedative through an IV. They then asked me to sign papers WHILE ON A SEDATIVE. This is not only unprofessional, but not legal. I couldn't even sign the papers because of the IV, so had to sign with my left hand. A definite no no. 3. They started to wheel me to surgery, and I asked where my mom was. She also expressed concern to the staff, and they brought her out for the 10 seconds before I was wheeled in. I was very upset going into surgery, which I am now learning effected my healing process. 4. After surgery a male nurse was assigned to me. He kept flirting with me and making strange comments, even though my fiance was standing next to me. He made us both very uncomfortable. Then when he was removing the electrode pads from the top of my chest, he pulled my gown down to expose me. The pads were nowhere NEAR that area, and did not need to do that. He should have had a female nurse do this. I was post surgery so still very groggy and confused. It was awful. 5. The staff did not provide me with any post-surgery directions. They literally wheeled me to the car and left me. I had to call my surgeon to ask what to do. Very unprofessional. 6. Months later I filed a complaint with SOAR Surgery. The head nurse reached out and apologized. I let her know the seriousness of the male nurse's actions. She then offered to send me a letter and gift card to "apologize" for my poor experience. Uh, what???? Oh, and I never received the letter. Please, stay away from SOAR. Stay away from this surgery center. I would hate to have my experience happen to anyone else. read more

Easy to find, good customer service from the initial contact at the front desk all the way through the good bye at the end of my procedure. They even have warmed-up blankets for when you hop onto the procedure gurney. Look, if you're coming here, it's probably not for funsies -- but these folks clearly do care about ensuring you have the best care possible. That rates 5 stars in my book. read more

This place is just ok. The building looks outdated and neglected. The center itself looks remodeled, but I can tell the Hvac system doesn't get serviced much (dirty supply/return registers in the actual surgery rooms). The entire staff is friendly. I also did not like how they pre-charged me a coinsurance amount at the time of checking in (which is a no-no that my insurance explained to me). First, let me express my utmost respect for the medical workers who have been risking themselves during difficult times, including staff hired by Soar Surgery Center. Without them, California would not have survived pandemic so far. I truly believe they deserve better support from community and government. Those being said, I still need to write about my personal experience with them, a terrible one that should be called "incident". I came in for GI earlier this year. The entire process was done in a little over an hour and it went smooth. But there were some critical errors in the service provided by Soar Surgery Center employees. 1) Old short Caucasian lady I will not mention her name but she was introduced to me as a specialist to monitor anesthesia during the exam. I'm not complaining about her age or personality. She seemed to me a very attentive person with nice attitude. While they were transporting the bed on which I was lying, to the examination room, the lady grabbed the shoes I was wearing with both hands. And once the bed was parked, she proceeded to use her hands to spray my throat without washing or sanitizing them (or wearing gloves). It was an incredible behavior that disappointed me greatly. I don't want to blame her, but this is something that should not be allowed no matter what. I know she would not have done the same to a white American patient. 2) Young Indian lady I will not write her name that I saw on her name tag. She was supervising an inexperienced nurse who seemed to be on training. She was polite and communicating with me respectfully. After the exam, they sent me back to the waiting room where I got off bed and put on clothes before meeting my doctor. I found my mask that I was originally wearing abandoned on the floor and I didn't bother picking it up (they replaced it with new mask prior to GI and I kept wearing it until I got home). As I was leaving, this Indian lady chased after me with a mask in her hand saying "this is your mask". She said she found it on the bed, not on the floor like it was. This is not funny. She gave me back the contaminated mask and tried to make me believe it was clean. This is a very bad practice of business and potentially a dangerous thing to do. Please stop what you're doing to your patient whether he is API or a regular white American. Those 2 errors should not be repeated at Soar Surgery Center. Please take measures to correct their wrong doings. I could appeal this case further because this is serious, but out of respect for their job, I would leave it at that. read more

X-Ray Machine broke during surgery! The entire staff was very professional and I couldn't have asked for more from the front my desk, anesthesiologist, surgeon, or immediate nursing staff. This is directed at the management for not having a back-up plan for an X-ray machine. While the facility was modern otherwise, the surgeon had to stop just after he started, close my wife up, and move her to another facility. Fortunately the surgeon was patient and willing to do this and the OR staff was apologetic. If you're considering this clinic, confirm their equipment first! read more

My wife had orthopedic surgery this week at SOAR. The staff was uniformly professional, caring and friendly. The same nurse answered all her pre-op questions by phone before the procedure, was with her in the recovery room and called the next day to see how she was doing. Very impressed! read more

My wife had a fairly small procedure at this center. While the medical part went OK, the business practices of this place are terrible. They do not subscribe to major insurance networks, but claim that they will accept insurance determination for "in-network" pricing. Considering the deductibles this is a time-sensitive situation. At the time of the surgery their systems were down and they could not bill the insurance. In fact, they had not done so for four more months. Then they had not send us a statement until a year and four months after the date of service when a "Past Due" statement with wrong amounts arrived. Calls to their billing office have not been answered, a person at the front desk of the center promised to facilitate, but no results. The procedure took a couple of hours. Dealing with the accounting is looking like months of frustration. Totally unacceptable. read more

I don't even want to give these guys one star, but apparently I must to be able to post a review. After the routine EKG in the pre-op bay, the anesthesiologist informed me that I had suffered a previous heart attack. Then she closed the curtain and proceeded to loudly discuss the situation with staff. The entire discussion was audible to all other patients in the pre-op bay. Then all quieted down while, one by one, everyone else was taken to surgery. Patients arriving subsequently were prepped and taken to surgery while I remained for a couple of hours alone in the pre-op bay. Finally I was taken to the OR. I asked everyone what was going on with my heart, and no one knew anything about anything. The next thing I knew I was in the recovery bay, where my nurse knew even less. She didn't know what procedure I had had, or even where the exit to the center was--let alone what the story was about the heart attack diagnosis. I was sent home with no after-surgery care instructions aside from a reminder to keep my followup appointment with the surgeon, and no advice or instructions on following up on their prior heart attack diagnosis. I managed to obtain the EKG printout and sent it to my own doctor, who confirmed the reading and had me come in the next day. She ran 2 EKGs, both of which were normal (and confirmed normal by a cardiologist) and said often a bad reading is the result of a badly-done EKG. She also expressed considerable dismay that the surgery center would have gone ahead with an elective procedure on a patient believed to have suffered an undiagnosed heart attack. Although I was immensely relieved to learn I had not had a heart attack, I am still suffering frequent anxiety attacks about the experience, and am very angry at this surgery center's practices.
