My mom had stroke back in 2003 and have been at Linda Mar a few times for rehabilitation. She had been there before COVID, during COVID and currently staying at Linda Mar Rehabilitation since July. Over the years, my mom condition has gotten worse and is currently under long term care. We chose to bring my mom back to Linda Mar because we have had many good experience ... friendly staffs, clean environment and good support system (ie: insurance, dietician, social workers, physical therapists, etc). COVID has changed many senior care centers in how it operates. Linda Mar Rehabilitation is no different ... requires all visitors to be vaccinated, provide proof of Rapid COVID test and temperature taken at the time of visit. Linda Mar Rehabilitation also limit number of allowed visitors at a time. Such precautions may seem extreme to some but we feel it is necessary and it makes us feel at ease that our mom is in a facility that takes safety and precautions seriously. Although visitations are limited due to COVID precautions, communication is still quite efficient. At any time, we can request a conference call with the staffs to go over the care that our mom is receiving and progress of rehabilitation. We are glad to have found this place many years back and would recommend for anyone looking for rehab center. read more

Omg this is death beds...screaming all night, water taste like toulety water, using my own clothes as blankets and pillow, trying to balance on cot like bed no cushion, 10 inch 1975 made tv with double image. Best asset they got is a landline Wich is conveniently just out of reach like the other three items. Meds not here., then said they were gonna try and find some in Livermore even tho my pharmacy is rite around corner?! But most of all the screaming matches all day all nite are masking the smell of death. Good luck read more

I would like to thank the staff and administration for their care and concern in caring for my family member through a difficult time. The nursing and support staff, from reception to therapies to building crews were patient and thorough with their care. When accomodations were requested, they bent over backwards to give the best of care and sympathy to a challenging situation. I had a very good experience at Linda Mar. I was admitted for physical therapy for post op knee replacement and general assistance due to disability post surgery. I admired the work of every department. -The nursing staff was kind, compassionate and overall excellent. They helped manage the extreme pain from this surgery and kept me well overall. -The CNA's were unbelievable with their support despite their workload. They were a very kind and uplifting group, which is especially important for the elders that are not capable of self care. They work exceptionally hard! -The physical therapy and occupational therapy staff was excellent. They were knowledgeable, kind and helped me to gain mobility, strength and taught me techniques on how to function safely at home with daily chores and activities of daily living. -The housekeeping staff kept the place looking absolutely beautiful and odor free. It's as if they were taking care of their own home! -The maintenance staff kept up the beautiful courtyard. There is a fountain where native birds came to drink and bathe. There are beautiful flowers and plants throughout the courtyard. It was all so therapeutic. The building is surrounded by tall trees and mountains. The courtyard was a place where families could gather and eat together in the sunshine. There was also plenty of room for residents to get some fresh air and walk. -The dietary staff provided a balanced diet and allowed me choices for some of my favorites that were suitable for my health. -The recreation staff provided stimulating and enjoyable activities for residents. They made efforts to encourage residents to come to activities, which brought smiles, laughter and bonding. -The administration staff checked in frequently to make sure I was ok and my needs were being met. They helped make a discharge plan so I would be safe at home. If ever a family member needed rehab care, I would hope they can get admission at Linda Mar. read more

care is poor, my husband was there for rehab, family member visited him daily, by the third day discovered , tooth brush was never opened (still sealed in plastic), no one offered or help with face washing. or clothes changing. These are pointed out due to he is not able to get out of bed to attended to his personal hygiene, when he was admitted ,Linda Mar rehab should and must be aware of his condition. Linda Mar gave me the opportunity to heal: thank you! What it didn't give me is peace and quiet. The hallways are noisy most of the time otherthanovernight...that's on the dayshift which is the majority. Don't get me wrong, the staff were 90% compassionate and responsive to my needs. Casey, the Administrator well, I couldn't tell you what he does other than nice guy very GQ. In a short week he was saying I've got to go etc.regularly. Now you know what I mean that, at least for me, it was loud enough to hear what people were saying (not my business). While the food was fine they had your tray in your room @7am(what's the rush)? Lunch was a reasonable time but then I'd have my dinner tray@4pm. OMG. We were supposed to get evening snacks: didn't happen unlessa a kind CNA wouldbringmesomething justnotwhatIorderedandnoconsistency. . When first moved to Linda Mar rehab center from hospital stuck me in 3 bed room 7 days. I complained about for last 4 days out 7 days I was in that room. Then they finally moved me to 2 bedroom room lucky I had no room mate. The second week case worker asked me if I had a place to stay when time I would be discharged I said no. She told me theirs place in Berkeley I could stay that requires no income just medical. Shen never mentioned it afterward no even at time of discharge just her assistant just try to get me in a shelter in the worst part of San Francisco the tenderloin district. read more

I can't give Linda Mar high enough praise for the excellent care they provided my sister Barbara. She was there for several months and had many complicated health issues that had her going into the hospital on several occasions. Through it all Alicia The Head Nurse and Dr. Birinbaum one of the excellent doctors at Linda Mar made sure every time Barbara returned she was well taken care of. There are many excellent nurses, plus she also received PT & OT throughout her stay. They made sure when she was discharged that she had everything she needed to continue her care at home. My mom was admitted here twice over the past year and throughout each stay I found myself very impressed with the level of care she received.  I thought the world of the supporting cast of healthcare workers, professionals from different disciplines weather it was their PT department, Social Services, or occupational therapists. My mom also thoroughly enjoyed her meals and said the atmosphere was a warm and caring one. My experience with the administrators there are also very positive as I thought they were very on top of running a safe and healthy atmosphere especially during the Covid pandemic. I would highly recommend considering this location for anyone trying to find the right location to help an aging parent or senior person recover from a surgery or recent health crisis in their lives. read more

The facility is very nice, clean and has nice friendly people and nurses as well. My friends grandmother was under comfort care and needed a certain drug to ease pain. The reason why I gave 3 stars instead of 5 or 4 was because of unskilled nurses and a lack of equipment. The nurses are young and I think a little unskilled, not to say that all young nurses are unskilled and that old nurses are skilled but these nurses here are unskilled and young -- 3 nurses helped and was was unfamiliar with the equipment and was receiving instructions on the phone while dealing with the equipment.(& still did not fix the problem with the equipment). Also, this place is a little hard to find--especially in the dark (2 of our GPS's could not find the center). read more

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and understanding of the pain my grandfather was dealing with. Worst place!!! everyday was an issue from not changing fathers diaper to giving him 44% sugar protein drink to man with diabetes. Left with only a gown and a sheet to be cold .When I ask to take him home they insisted that the dr had to discharge or I would not be eligible for home assistance. The dr was a wack job and only talked about how bad the insurance companies are and that he was in charge of st Luke's until Sutter Health took over. Never even help my father. They only wanted him to stay until the insurance kicks you out. Some staff were friendly but since it's so understaffed patients suffer! My father was in a crowed room with two other men. One old loud cranky mean man who yelled and swore bec he wanted cigarettes and coffee. Super rude at the end they didn't want to give me his insulin I brought. I demanded I get it! When leaving No one helped. They saw me struggling with a disabled patient and no one help. Only shows they only cared for the insurance money. My father has dementia and is completely disabled. I kept telling them I don't think staff is qualified to help his condition since he can't really move and can't remember to ask for help. I sat there everyday from the am to the pm helping my father asking to discharge him. I finally gave up and decided I don't care if I don't get help at home. My Dad was admitted at this facility like 3 weeks ago and we really enjoy our time there since its close to the nature environment. We love the people we work with specially the nurses and CNA except one employee that gives us an horrible treatment its their Social Worker L*****y. We feel like her social skills are not compatible with this type of work enviroment a little rude and its hard to reach to her. Overall the service was good and staff was great except one. Sorry for giving 2 star but we are not completely satisfied with your social worker. read more

My grandma was at Linda Mar Rehab for 2 months. We had a great experience here. The facility was one story, quiet, and located right by the beach, so there was always fresh air. There was a small courtyard for residents to walk around if they wanted fresh air. It always felt peaceful there. The place was clean. The cleaning people were here every day scrubbing the floors and the walls. But it did still smell like old people and pee. I guess you can't really help that. The nurses were always super friendly, smiley, and helpful. They knew my grandma and always checked in on her. I felt comfortable leaving my grandma with their care. My grandma felt heard and taken care of. It was easy to flag a nurse down to talk to them and ask for assistance because the facility was fairly small. She felt like she got one on one attention. My only complaint would be the food. My grandma didn't eat beef, so she was literally getting fed sandwiches (usually two slices of bread with a slice of ham and cheese; or bread with tuna) every single day - at least 2 meals a day. By the end of 2 months, she was over eating sandwiches so we started bringing her real meals from home. Compared to the larger nursing homes that I've visited my other relatives at, Linda Mar Rehab is personable. The larger the facility, the less the people care. Here, I felt like they cared for their patients' wellbeing. I've read some reviews about how some patients weren't well taken care of. I want to note that my family and I took turns visiting my grandma every single day. We were always around to make sure my grandma wasn't being neglected, which may have also led to our good experience with Linda Mar Rehab. read more

I was very pleased with my experience at Linda Mar rehabilitation. I can be a hard critic of emergency care places and the people employed by them. Combine that attitude with an innate crankiness when I'm not feeling at all well and the result can be much less than pleasant. This time (My first time at Linda Mar Rehabilitation center ) was a world away from previous experiences elsewhere. This review is for less than 24 hours, so maybe things will be better. My mom broke her hip and has been transferred here after surgery. She's in her 60s, and this is her first major surgery. She arrived around 430 on a Friday, and maybe because shifts were changing, it seemed like no one really knew who she was or expected her. They didn't have a walker for her, and wouldn't give her one until the physical therapist evaluated her. However, we have no idea when that will be. We haven't gotten any information. So my mom is literally stuck in her bed, and the staff has tried to make her use a bed pan when she is fully capable of using the bathroom. It's pretty demoralizing. The facility is clean, but it just seems disorganized and at this point I'm not feeling confident or good about leaving my mom here, even though it's short term. Maybe things would feel different on a weekday. UPDATE: After talking to the occupational therapist and the administrator, who are both wonderful, I feel much better. They are very responsive and were apologetic that my family didn't have a clear sense of my mom's rehab plan. So if you are checking in on a Friday or weekend, maybe just prepare for a little less info than you'd like to have. PT happens only on weekdays, so weekends are pretty quiet. The staff's response to my concerns couldn't have been handled more kindly or professionally. read more

Sorry ahead of time for any errors I'm using speech to text very bad arthritis in my hands at the moment hard to type here goes I broke my hip in 2018 was sent to Linda Mar to recover but then 4 days of being there my legs swelled up I was having extremely hard time breathing they brought a portable ultrasound in technician did my leg and said oh your foot is full of Edema but I don't think I see a blood clot you're okay they continued with my exercises I kept complaining that I couldn't breathe I was in pain and my back was really hurting finally insisted they call a doctor I was going to call 911 and get an ambulance myself they told me I had to have a Kaiser doctor come in to discharge me to hospital no doctor available after complaining and talking loudly they found a doctor I'll ask me some questions looked at my labored breathing called an ambulance question the staff as to why wasn't I given a baby aspirin daily as was put in my chart got to the ER at Kaiser had a massive blood clot in my leg that dislodged and went to my lungs and gave me a pulmonary embolism I was hours are a couple days away from dying I was scheduled to be sent home the next day from that Convalescent Hospital to do recovery at home I would have died at home because of the massive blood clots that they told me 3 days before I didn't have they also found that I had fractured my back after being released from the I see you at Kaiser like the family and of course I didn't want to go back to this place no place was available to take me to finish my recovery I had to come home my house wasn't prepared for me I have not fully recovered from this experience three years later my health is continuing of you taking a decline I have no trust in doctors anymore even subsequently the follow-up care at Kaiser has been horrific for me it's almost as if all doctors just back each other up sadly Kaiser is held responsible to for the actions at this home as well as the home itself and I was in no position to get ahold of a lawyer or do anything it took me well over a year and a half to get to be able to walk around without discomfort from this hip and the back forget it it's chronic unadulterated pain because it wasn't caught I didn't do the exercises it healed wrong and now I'm stuck with that most of the staff there very nice and pleasant 85% of their staff and their food wasn't so bad and they're outside little garden listen nice to be able to sit there the communication sorely lacks there and that could cost you your life the fact that they feel that the patient doesn't know and I was very coherent of mind I could pretty much take care I myself very hard to get to a bathroom having to learn how to do all of those things and I had to learn to do them at home because of the blood clots I had no place to come back to to finish up my hip recovery and sadly I had a brand new bathrobes slippers and some other items that were all new in a bag and they're gone they were never returned. Neither the offer to replace it my son had brought in a few bags I got one that I took with me and got back the rest it was gone that was all the new things were gone and I'm grateful I am alive but it's so painful to know that people that was supposed to have my back and take care of me going to kill me if I had not been insistent upon calling had just dislodge and they were found me dead in bed and then he would hav wee gotten away with it and said oh well we didn't see it 2 days 3 days before he'll always check listen to your body or listen to your loved ones when they're they're they're complaining about something or they're saying someone isn't paying attention to them be their voice and if you're there to recover from a post-surgical thing you be the voice you say something's wrong and insist upon getting the care that you need to see a doctor in a timely fashion read more

This is the WORST PLACE TO RECOVER !!! OR BE HERE LIVING AS AN ASSISTED CARE HOME!!! I was here to recover from a spinal surgery...the nurses never come in to help or help with the correct doses of medications. I asked over and over for help with my medication and not one person was willing to help me or call my surgeon!!! I got so so sick from not having the correct amount of my medications...they do not care!!! Food is Terrible !!! The rooms are very loud and cold...the heat did not work in the room I was in...I asked for help to get warm and nothing!!!! The worst part was when I left to fly home...they did not give my my physical prescription to get filled at home. I had zero pain meds after a major spinal fusion...I called and they were not helpful at all. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!! DO NOT STAY THERE OR LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES IN THEIR CARE!!!! My dad was placed here a couple of weeks ago. Here are my eye witness observations: 1. He was brought to the family area to visit with us. No one checked his oxygen tank. I noticed it was empty. I went to get the nurse. She did not respond to my request for a fresh tank. I went back a second time and reminded her. She did not look at me or acknowledge me. She did go to the closet and obtain another tank. The 'new tank' was only 1/4 full. I asked her to bring a full tank since the one she brought would run out in less than 15 minutes. 2. A nurse came in to the dining room to deliver medications. She said hello and began to give my dad some medications. I asked her why she didn't check his name band and she just looked at me. She could have had the wrong patient. Patient identifiers are a part of patient safety and she violated that. She also did not wash her hands. 3. When changing his bed they sat him in the hallway for close to 20 minutes without being attached to his oxygen. I arrived to see him having difficulty breathing. There was no one insight. I wheeled him in to his bed and hooked up his oxygen. 4. Whenever I call to ask how he's doing, all they say is 'fine' or I don't know. REALLY? 5. My sister arrived mid afternoon yesterday to find him sitting outside in a wheelchair without a blanket or coat. She asked if he were cold and he said, "YES". She said his feet were 'purple'. She asked why he was outside in this FREEZING AIR~ and the OT said, oh yeah it is cold. 6. Dr. Ng came in to his room to speak with him, me and my mom. Dr. Ng told my dad that his condition was grave. We appreciated his honesty but what came next had my head spinning! He proceeded to speak in a scolding manner and said, "if you or your family call 911 and you go to the emergency room, I will not take care of you and you cannot come back here!". "It is not fair to the nurses to have you making more work for them". I kid you not! These are his exact words! At this point, my dad is requesting Hospice but I have been informed by the family that Dr. Ng is not signing the certification for him to go home with Hospice which is my dad's wish. REALLY???? It seems to me if he is refusing to allow him to go home on Hospice that this place is a prison and not a long term 'care'. Stay away!!!! I am not being libelous or slanderous. I am using my 1st amendment right to share with people what my actual experience was! read more

The skilled nursing facility is nestled amongst the outdoors and from the windows, you can see mountain ranges in the distance, lots of trees, like being on a ranch surrounded by pastures and the outdoors. We have a relative who's been here a couple of months and hopes to be discharged soon. Their rehab department offer wound care, stroke recovery, cardiac/ortho/neurological rehab and pain management with 16 hrs RN care daily. They offer IV therapy, diabetic care, hospice/respite, wound care and custodial care. Lots of elderly patients here, gets depressing as it can remind you of what can happen to us down the road if we live long enough. The nursing staff is very nice and the facility is clean. It's got a better atmosphere and more spacious than some of the skilled nursing facilities we've seen in the past when visiting relatives. Patients seem well cared for here. read more

My mother spent about a month here recovering from a mild stroke. The facility was clean, the food was good, and the staff was attentive although at times, short-handed. This is why family should always stay engaged. I discovered the CA license name of this facility is the "Linda Mar Care Center" and that it is owned by a chain of nursing homes, NorthAmerican Healthcare, Inc., based in Newport Beach. If your loved one needs to recover, this is the place. If they need significant speech, physical or occupational therapy, go somewhere else. They only work part-time and as a retired Health Educator, I saw that they were not seasoned professionals. The hospital gave us a list just before discharging mom. The case worker wanted my sister to choose a facility my mother's insurance would cover; not necessarily what she truly needed. My advice is to investigate even before discharge. And if you have issues, talk to the staff and if necessary, file a grievance with the California Dept. of Public Health. My hope is that these nursing homes will be held to a higher level of care. read more

I was in the facility for 3 weeks. My CNAs were awesome, my nurses were wonderful, my physical therapists and occupational therapists were great. Do not have enough words to describe how happy I was with their customer service. It seems they really mind your concerns. I had an issue with my insurance they followed up for me and arranged all my Dr. appointments. I shouldn't be worry about anything just had to ask them to do it for me. I know he is always trying to do what is best for the patient and for the employees of the facility. You won't find a better facility in the San Francisco area. When we needed to find a place for my mom, a nursing facility was our last resort. We have been to some really depressing places. We ultimately decided to go to Linda Mar because of it's location, but we are so glad we did. It has ended up being a really good experience. I was expecting a bunch of crusty people, but I was surprised at how welcoming it was. We had positive interactions with almost everyone, except one nurse who recently got fired (I think because she was so mean). They definitely care a lot about making sure you are as comfortable as possible. I agree with another review that some of the nurses seem a bit young, but we actually liked that. My father was here for a short (2 week) stay after being hospitalized with weakness. The physical therapist and occupational therapists he worked with were terrific -- he and I have the highest of praise for them and he regained quite a bit of strength while he was here. He had one PT and one OT session every day Monday through Friday. The staff were friendly and helpful. The central garden has some nice flower beds, and once he was able to walk with a walker, he could walk around the central patio. It seems to be a fairly small facility, so feels homier than some of the large facilities that have more of an institutional feel. There is tremendous variation in SNFs in the Bay Area, and Linda Mar is one of the excellent ones. read more

According to my dad, his physical therapists are the best in the industry. His social worker was very attentive and the administrator was extremely accommodating. Horrible, horrible place. The first night my father was transferred here, they weren't ready for him. They were still clearing out a room which already had 2 other residents. The guy next to him was blasting his TV and looked bothered that he was getting a new neighbor. The director saw our faces and then offered to move him to another room with only one other person in it. It took 15 minutes for them to answer his first call light. I went out to the reception area and said he needed a urinal and it still took them another 10 minutes before they came. They didn't have any of his meds which included a lot of pain medication. We stayed until he was ready to sleep and he called us that night begging us to get him out of there. We transferred him to another facility the very next morning. The place looks updated and clean but the staff and quality of care was very disappointing. read more

HORRIBLE! They wanted to keep my mother 3-4 weeks and I had her out in 6 days. 92yo woman with 30% heart function and they had her in a two hour AND twenty minute PT/OT session! REALLY??!! I know my mom is slowly dying, but the lack of care, the inexcusable treatment she was receiving at Linda Mar Rehab had her on a fast track to death. NEVER AGAIN! read more
