While a locked ward is never where you want your parent to end up, I couldn't be more pleased with the attention my mom is receiving. She has vascular dementia and not Alzheimer's, so while it is is extremely hard to watch her decline, her physical symptoms are not particularly worrisome, so perhaps she requires less attention than someone who is a fall risk or is so agitated that they are a physical threat to the staff. This is very difficult work, and while it would be amazing to have 1:1 attention for my mom, whenever I visit her (now I have to wear a mask and stand 7 feet away) she is well groomed, happy and relaxed. I worry a lot so I find myself calling quite a bit to check in. The activities staff is very attentive and even the caregiving staff has shown a good deal of devotion to my mother, especially given the current pandemic. I can sleep at night knowing there are no Covid cases and that they are exceptionally careful about who is allowed to enter the facility. While on the face of it, Aegis is quite expensive, I work in the field and know that other facilities in SF cost literally TWICE as much. It is a shame that adult care is so expensive, but I believe Aegis is a very good deal considering our other options. I am grateful to have found this place and can't say enough good things about the director, the activities staff, and the host of other workers who keep my mother safe.

1818 Trousdale Drive Burlingame, CA 94010…read more "Oakmont of Burlingame" is a modern and beautiful facility that offers assisted living and memory care services. This place is very easy to get to on Trousdale Drive, and is directly across the street from the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. My niece and I took a scheduled tour of Oakmont of Burlingame. Anne, our guide, explained everything in detail and answered our questions. We were shown different apartment floor plans, common areas, and outdoor areas. It should be noted that when we entered the lobby, there was no Covid screening (such as temperature check). Masks were optional. The apartments are like hotel rooms, and do not have kitchens. Residents are to eat in the dining room, or have food brought to their room. All rooms are unfurnished, except for the mini fridge. We were only shown model rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. There's a secure private garage underground. Oakmont features luxurious common areas, attention to detail, and there was live music in the lobby when we were there. They seem very accommodating to resident preferences and schedules for meals. There's also group outings for things like museums and shopping. At the end of our tour, Anne explained all the required paperwork and price rates. Overall, we had a very positive experience.

Marketing directors, Anne and Kori were incredibly welcoming and informative. While an elaborate series of circumstances did not allow us to move our family member into Oakmont, I would recommend them to anyone looking for senior care. Kori Martin was my main contact there and I cannot say enough about her professionalism, warmth and kindness. She was also extremely communicative and helpful. She is very well suited to assist families with navigating these important and sensitive decisions.

I toured 8 facilities in total and eventually settled on WR because of two main reasons- staff longevity and lack of (even unfounded) complaints on the licensing website. I used to be a hospice social worker and have visited dozens of assisted living facilities and I know how hard it is to accomplish both of those things. From day one the staff has been thoughtful, conscientious, and so very kind. They have welcomed not only my grandpa, but our family, every step of the way. When he was recently in the hospital they even turned his TV on for his cat so she wouldn't be lonely! They shampooed his carpet the first day he was gone so it would be nice when he came back. They think ahead, they communicate proactively, they pay attention to residents' preferences, adapt quickly to changes, and the staff truly seem happy working there. I cannot recommend WR enough. I am so grateful.

This place does have all the essentials you would want for your loved ones: wonderful clean spaces, great food and a calendar full of activities, but the thing that separates Westborough from all other assisted living homes is undoubtedly the staff. Even through the depths of the pandemic when the home was closed to non-essential visitors, the staff remained caring, attentive and committed to serving these residents. As a physical therapist, I have never met a staff team that was so eager, ready and willing to help these residents improve their mobility and quality of life as I have at Westborough. I can remember Hilda, one of the custodial workers, lending one of her own canes to a new resident to help her walk during PT while the resident waited for her daughter to order her own. I knew I could rely on the caregivers, such as Lillian and Izcaly, to go the extra mile by walking with residents outside of PT to keep them mobile and safe when the "easier" way would have been to keep residents in a wheelchair. This team is definitely not known for taking shortcuts. You can see their pride for their work in how the staff consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of them. Shirley is in charge of activities, but she really excels in creating a great sense of community among the residents. I love to see the residents just linger in the common areas between activities and for Shirley to just talk and reminisce with them. I have even seen Shirley recognize a new resident who was struggling with the change in her living situation and Shirley just spent time talking with this resident alone in the garden. By the way, the garden is immaculate--all thanks to Jesus, who is in charge of maintenance, and yet he does so much more. I am indebted to him for numerous occasions for helping me with fixing assistive devices and other tasks. Finally, I must highlight Westborough Royale's Executive Director, Bridget. Her experience and insight are absolutely vital to this team. I have never a met a director who knows so well the needs, preferences and difficulties for each resident. Working with her has made all the difference in helping our home health team deliver better care. As you can see, I really can go on and on about this staff. The above examples are just clear signs to me that this staff does not view this home as simply a job that they're punching in and out of. They truly care to serve the needs of these residents. I will say though that they are not miracle workers and there are inevitable health issues that will occur in this phase of life. But the staff at Westborough will help your loved ones feel at home in this place and care for their needs as best as possible. As someone who has worked for residents at other assisted living homes across the US (and around the Bay Area), I will say that Westborough Royale is absolutely the very best that I have seen. I also want to thank credit the other wonderful staff (and I'm sorry for those that I've forgotten to mention or didn't get a chance to meet): Maria Eric Elena Maricela Carmen Gloria Ana

They're very friendly and welcoming, responding to my requests for help within a reasonable amount of time (I'm usually there at lunchtime, so staff are pretty busy with residents who need extra help with their meals). The courtyards are a great bonus. PR has a family room, and every few months a group of us get together to visit our friend, spilling into the adjacent courtyard when the weather allows. The Activities Director maintains a full daily schedule, and creates a colorful and ever-changing holiday or seasonal display, which reduces the "sameness" for the residents.

I was inexperience and didn't know what I was doing. I thought all the medium size facilities are about the same, so when I found out there were another facility near by has been recently remolded, everything was new, they also had a house cat plus a chicken coop. I thought it would be better for my husband to be in a place where there are animals, because He loves animals. I was wrong, my husband developed a skin issue and lasted for a few months didn't get well. emergency service was called, but the skin problem was getting worse, I finally decided to take him to another smaller facility, under more personal care, my husband finally got over his skin problem. Unfortunately, even though the care was good, but within 3 months, they had to call emergency pick up three times and many phone calls to me because they didn't know how to handle his temperament due to the nature of his Alzheimer's disease. I finally realized I had to contact Peninsular Reflections again because I remember when my husband was at Peninsular Reflections the first time, I was never called due to any problem that my husband had that they couldn't handle. This second time I took my husband back to Peninsular Reflections. It has been 1 1/2 year, I visited my husband regularly, during this year and half, only received one call that my husband had a very small size rash, they informed me and let me know right away, within a week, they work with the doctor and the rash was recovered quickly. That was very efficient and great job. All the staff are friendly and eager to please. They always well come the last minute notice for visitation. To me, that means a lot. It also means they are not trying to make it looking better on the surface when you have an appointment to visit. Anna, the administer did a superb job leading the team at Peninsular Reflections and a facility you can trust with your love ones.

Last November 4th 2025 she was brought to the emergency department of Mills Peninsula Medical Center. Initially she was only given 48 hrs by the doctors for they cannot stop the bleeding if they do a surgery it will cause death because of the blood vessels are bleeding, her hemoglobin is too low and they said there is no medicine bleeding they can only do blood transfusions there is no assurance for it to stop. But there are really miracles the internal bleeding stopped by itself. She was transferred to San Bruno Skilled Nursing. She was given very good care. The care that most skilled nursing don't have right now they care for their patients, they care with a heart! I would also like to express my deepest appreciation to Daniela and Veronica of their business administration office they really care about the welfare of their patients above anything else in business it is rare to see this, I I would also like to thank all the CNA, nurses and doctors in this facility who worked tirelessly everyday. Now my mom is in very good care that gives her comfort on her remaining days. The different of San Bruno Skilled Nursing is they care with a heart! I would definitely recommend this place. I am forever grateful and the rest of our family.

She went into this slum of a facility after her stay at Stanford, where they told us she was suffering from back pain and a UTI and was having some mobility issues due to her back pain. When she was transferred, we attempted to check if she was getting proper medication for said UTI and they told us that they didn't see it in her paperwork and refused to treat her for it. We didn't realize the facility was so bad but now the voicemails of my grandma calling us crying and saying she is scared haunts me to this day. My grandma went into septic shock and died of what they deemed "heart failure" inside of this place. Again, she went in for back pain. Not issues with her heart. NEVER let your loved ones be treated here, if you value their lives.
