Apartments are well equipped with all you may need to live an independent life. The care offered for those who are in need is wonderfully caring and attentive. Outings, events, classes, quest speakers, trips...I can go on. My mother is so pleased living here-her life has opened up to social experiences, friendships, happy days shared. I can not speak more highly.

It is exceptionally clean, bright, cared for and well appointed. You get the feeling you are on a fine cruise ship! The residents are engaged and lively and seem to love it! The hallways are wide, and the one and two bedroom apartments are so nice. Both of my friends have stunning views, walk in closets, a small kitchen and large bathrooms. There is a swimming pool, beautiful outdoor patio areas, and many areas inside to enjoy. They have it well decorated for every season and holiday. There is also a small bistro "Emma's Sweet Shop" for a casual bite to eat, a beauty salon, and a gorgeous library where you can attend lectures etc. The downstairs dining room has white tablecloths and waiter and waitresses....definitely not cafeteria style....you always feel like you are fine dining. The food is also exceptional. Probably one of the best things about the Magnolia is the staff. Many have been there for 25 years. That definitely says something about them! They are kind, caring, and patient. They will go out of their way to make sure you are happy and comfortable and have all the services you need. This is independent living or assisted living, depending on your needs. We found the price more reasonable than most in the area. This is not a memory care facility, but if you live here you would not ever have to move. Excellent choice!

1818 Trousdale Drive Burlingame, CA 94010…read more "Oakmont of Burlingame" is a modern and beautiful facility that offers assisted living and memory care services. This place is very easy to get to on Trousdale Drive, and is directly across the street from the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. My niece and I took a scheduled tour of Oakmont of Burlingame. Anne, our guide, explained everything in detail and answered our questions. We were shown different apartment floor plans, common areas, and outdoor areas. It should be noted that when we entered the lobby, there was no Covid screening (such as temperature check). Masks were optional. The apartments are like hotel rooms, and do not have kitchens. Residents are to eat in the dining room, or have food brought to their room. All rooms are unfurnished, except for the mini fridge. We were only shown model rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. There's a secure private garage underground. Oakmont features luxurious common areas, attention to detail, and there was live music in the lobby when we were there. They seem very accommodating to resident preferences and schedules for meals. There's also group outings for things like museums and shopping. At the end of our tour, Anne explained all the required paperwork and price rates. Overall, we had a very positive experience.

Marketing directors, Anne and Kori were incredibly welcoming and informative. While an elaborate series of circumstances did not allow us to move our family member into Oakmont, I would recommend them to anyone looking for senior care. Kori Martin was my main contact there and I cannot say enough about her professionalism, warmth and kindness. She was also extremely communicative and helpful. She is very well suited to assist families with navigating these important and sensitive decisions.

Dear Alex, In this…read moremoment of COVID-19, I want to let you know how grateful I am that mom is living at Golden Age. You, your wife, Lee, Connie and Marissa have adhered to public health protocols and I am grateful. I worked 20 years in the field of public health and Leslie has a lifetime in nursing. Public health puts community health as a priority but many in society do not understand how important this is. When I was a child with my grandmother in SF Chinatown, if one person came into the building with TB while showing no symptoms, the whole building was exposed. I know from personal experience from my Dad about how infectious diseases can spread and from my Mom who took care of him as he recovered. While I miss seeing Mom in person and she misses us, when I explain why we cannot visit, even in her state of dementia she understands. When I explain COVID-19 as a contagious disease and that 100,000 have died, she immediately advised me to stay home. I was relieved when you immediately implemented the no visitors policy and that when we deliver supplies these are left to air and disinfect before bringing these upstairs and to know that proper PPE and daily cleaning is being adhered to as well for mom and staff. Finally, on Tuesday, I had arrived to drop off supplies when inspectors from the San Mateo County Health Department had finished their inspection. Congratulations, I was thrilled to hear that they said you all were doing a great job keeping the residents and staff safe. Yes! As this is no easy task. I am writing to get a handle for future protocols once "shelter in place" is lifted. In the rush to "re-open" the economy; inconsistent public information is confusing people into thinking that things can go back to a previous "normal". Dying from COVID-19 is a horrible way to have one's life end. I understand it is painful, lonely, and full of fear. I do not want this to happen to my mom, the other residents or staff. This is a time when each of us needs to thing of others in addition to ourselves. I have been trying to find protocols for when restrictions are "lifted." For me, I am not comfortable to have visitors come inside the facility. It is my understanding that the virus will mutate and the possibility of something even worse returning in the Fall is likely. Sound testing procedures and a vaccine is at least a year off. I believe that as part of being allowed to stay at Golden Age, residents and family adhere to a physical distancing outside the facility and not inside. I would be comfortable with visiting Mom while she sits at the back door and I am in the back yard a safe distance away from her. This policy also protects the staff and you, as you have family too. Please let me know about reputable sources for how residential facilities for the elderly should operate under our future new "norm." For me, the safety of my mom, your staff, you and your family is the number 1 priority. A significant number of COVIS-19 transmission was by individuals who showed no symptoms. While it is horrible that I can't hold my mom's hand, the task facing us is to make sure residents and staff stay healthy because this virus will mutate and people will be going out and about therefore increasing the potential for exposure. Finally, I have the utmost respect for the day to day work of Lee, Connie, Marissa and you. Caregivers are our country's frontline essential workers and it is now that I hope society wakes up and realizes how indispensable caregivers are to me and my Mom and how they approach their work with grace and dignity. If there is any way I can support you and the staff, please let me know. I would highly recommend Golden Age to others. Sincerely, Pam
