My mom is in memory care at Cadence Millbrae and it's amazing. The care staff are attentive and knowledgable (Karla is the director). The activities are great under the activities director-Marilyn. Beware shady and dishonest business practices! I never even heard of them or interacted with them, yet one of those "senior living advisors" shared my info with them-- which they proceeded to exploit by telling the hospital that they had a referral for us. I NEVER CONSENTED TO ALLOWING THEM TO SHARE MY INFO WITH THE HOSPITAL. The only reason I found out about it was that the hospital thought we'd made arrangements with them. If they need to LIE to the hospital and waste the precious time of customers who are already struggling with a loved one's decline, they clearly must not be doing good enough business through honest work. Wow this place is pretty nice. I came here to put together some furniture we bought for a family member that is staying here. The staff is super friendly. Lots of parking and some visitor spots reserved to. It is two story and most everything is on the first floor. The ground floor is the entrance from the parking lot. I was there just before lunch and all the ladies were seated in the dinning room waiting. It looked like a lot of the residence is female. Just off the dinning room was a sitting room with a grand piano and a game table. When I left several ladies were playing a game on that table. All the people here are very nice. The kitchen is staffed with younger people. The housekeeping is pretty old too. read more

my wife was a residence at Cadence Memory care for three years. My family had a great experience with the staff taking care of my wife aways very attentive. Karla head of memory care and Holly the executive director were always extremely helpful any problems that would arrive. I personally enjoyed my time with my wife at Cadence. As requested from a staff member removing my previous review, I find that review update is an appropriate approach to share my newer experience I had with the business. Actions they had taken during the pandemic lockdown, like advise residents staying in their units and no public gathering, meals delivery to unit avoiding crowds in public dining area, no visitor allowed except essential workers, employees working inside the facility with mask covering,... etc. The reason I would give a 5 star this time is that they proactively handled the situation after identified a Covid 19 case. Procedure performed including deep clean and disinfection throughout the floor. The affected resident was physically separate from residents without confirmed case and special cleaning treatment to the room had been occupied. All residents took C19 test to ensure no further positive case and monitored residents body temperature daily. I was extremely concerned since my mother's room is right next to the affected resident. After all, my mother is healthy and happy. The facility starts to roll back the pandemic restrictions now. Hopefully, they would keep up with the good work and consistently exceeds expectations! read more

My grandmother lives here and has been for the last 5 years or so and she loves it. The staff are really great with the residents and Kiel is always willing to do whatever it takes to make the residents happy and comfortable, would definitely recommend this place to anyone and thank you Cadence for all your good work. read more

Even though it was just for two months so we can get our house in San Francisco totally clear for remodel purpose, but we really enjoy the time that we stayed in your facility. Cadence is not just a independent, assistant and memory care facility, I can tell that you truly care about the people that reside there because you are very open mind about bringing in new program to improve the health of the residents that already lived there so they can have a better quality of life. The monthly meetings between the chef, director of the kitchen, Joshua from the kitchen continue to improve the food that you are serving is very good. I believe no matter what kind of stage in our life, there is always room for improvement. Your thoughtfulness is truly appreciated. We have a dear friend who is a resident of Cadence Millbrae. Last Saturday we had a surprise birthday party for her. The staff at Cadence was AMAZING! From the start of making the request to use the patio through the day of the party, they were there to help! Lilly, Cynthia and Kat were all so helpful, accommodating, friendly and just overall thoughtful in helping us pull off the surprise. What a great team and staff they have there. My mother-in-law has been living here for 7 years. She has been happy and the staff have been good to her. Over the years she has declined and has needed more care. The staff has been helpful and have kept us up to date on her needs. The Executive Director, Navin Walia has always been helpful and has an open door policy. If I ever have a concern the management will address it and will make changes to benefit the community as a whole, if needed. I feel I can always say what is on my mind. I spend a lot of time with my mother-in-law, sometimes twice a day. Everyone has been friendly. I love the dinning room staff. If you are looking for a place that has a feeling of community then this place is a great place to be. read more

As a current resident here at Marymount Greenhills, I would like to suggest that anyone checking this place outthis place for the possibility of putting their loved one here to live should ask the following questions and see how the questions are answered. 1. Why is the Staff (cargivers, LVN, and Front Desk personnel) Turnover rate so high? 2. Ask the management to explain the difference in the various levels of care? (they have 5 levels) 3. Ask what the ratio of caregivers to residents is during the day, swing, and midnight shifts are? 4 Ask why nobody has any authority to act or give out any information when problems come up after business hours or during the weekend. EX: If a toilet gets clogged up on a Friday night, and you report it to the front desk, they will tell you that they will write out a work order for the maintainence man to fix it on Monday Morning thus forcing us to use the clogged toilet over the weekend. 5. Since this is a 24 hrs a day facility, why isn't there a maintainence man either working or on call to come to fix emergencies off hrs and during the weekend. 6. Why is it so difficult to talk with Caroline Zinchik the Director of Assisted Living Staff whenever you have a question or a problem of a medical nature concerning your love one. 7. If you ask the Administrative Dept. something about the quality of care that your loved one will receive, you will notice that nothing spicific will be put in writing so that you will have some sort of recourse to hold them to their word. 8. Most Assisted Living places have brochures printed up which tell about the place (Apt., Prices) Level of Care, and other important information about their facility to give the prospective clients a clear understanding of the place so that you can make an informative and intelligent decision as to whether or not to go with the facility. Marymount do NOT have such a brochure. 9. When taking a tour of the place, ask Wesley (the Marketing Director) if you can be allowed 1 hour or time to explore the place on your own without him or any person in Administration accompanying you. (by doing this, you will be free to talk with existing residents along with caregivers questions without any input from Administration. You will see that Administration will get very nervous about that. As a final thought, I just wanted to say that everything I have stated here in my review is based on fact. It is not intended to make slanderous remarks about this facility. Everything I have said here has been expierenced by me personally as a current resident for 2 years now. I am saddened to say that my opinion of Marymouont Greenhills has even further diminished. I just got off the phone with "janee". She called me a liar on the phone because I "apparantly" was mistaken when I said that Ms. Lopez told me Navine "didn't want to talk to me". It was Janee....."so I am told." Either way for a receptionist OR any person working in this environment to say that the Executive does NOT want to discuss this most important issue is unprofessional and strange. The elderly, many times do not have a voice. I HAVE A VOICE AND I AM NOT BEING HEARD. It terrifies me what could/ might happen if there was an issue here...? Thanks for clearing things up Janee. My parents lived in a senior apartment at Marymount for 9 months, until they recently moved to Southern Cal to be near my other sister. The staff here is kind and attentive. The management is excellent and responsive. I would specifically like to mention Navin, Veronica and Chris. They were wonderful to work with. my parents lived in a one bedroom apartment with full bathroom and kitchen (stove, oven, full refrigerator). Monthly fees include weekly housekeeping and laundering of linens and towels. It was so comforting to know my parents were warm, safe and well-fed (food is delicious). They were in VERY good hands. I am a healthcare professional, so I am pretty discriminating, esp when it comes to my own parents. I would recommend this facility without hesitation. THANK YOU, Marymount staff :-) read more

My parents both live here and after 6 months of regular interaction with the staff, I have to admit that my parents are lucky to be around so many caring, friendly and understanding people. Dolly (executive director) has done a great job in putting together a competent, compassionate and truly caring team of nurses, cooks, cleaners and others. I understand that some former employees were let go and are disgruntled so their current rating might be lower than it should be. Other plusses for anyone considering Greenhills: They have a large variety of activities (learning and social), cooks who do their best to accommodate individual tastes, an awesome dining menu and responsive nursing team who also willingly interact with he extended family and not just the residents. read more

Fantastic staff! Everyone I worked with to transition my mom into the facility was extremely helpful. Lucia and Tony were exceptionally welcoming and showed patience and flexibility with me to ensure my mother's comfort even to the point of allowing my mom's best friend to have dinner with her many times at no charge. This helped my mom's attitude tremendously. She has been there for almost two months now and loves it. Since I live out of the area, it is such a relief knowing she is well taken care of. read more

My mom has been a resident at Marymount Greenhills for going on 5 years. Throughout the years, I have found the employees to be cordial, helpful and dependable. The caregiver staff, who at times I feel may be under-appreciated for the hard work they do, are very kind and attentive to my mom's needs and care. Whenever there is a health related issue, the Med Room staff contacts me right away to apprise me of such. They also contact my mom's physician immediately. Based on my own experiences, I would recommend Marymount as I feel we made the correct decision moving my mom to this particular assisted living facility. read more

My mother has been at this facility since February 2012. Her apartment was painted and new carpet installed before she moved in and she has a beautiful view overlooking a park. The staff is wonderful and caring. The facility is very clean and beautifully furnished. The staff go out of their way to get my mother to meet people and get involved in all the activites - there is always something going on (music, movies, bingo, trivial pursuit, day trips, etc.) My mother will need to be leaving at the end of April to go into more advanced boarding care, and I'll be very sorry to leave this place as our experience here was so wonderful. read more

My mother has been a resident of Greenhills for seven years. The spacious rooms allow her a sense of home. The activities are engaging and suited to her needs. The staff is kind and caring, and she loves her life there. A year ago she was in Hospice, and the staff was consistently encouraging... to the point where she graduated the program, and is now planning a cruise this month. A very close and dear member of my family has been a resident of Marymount Greenhills for over 3 years. She has found the comfort and security so important to her. She also has made friends and has been able to create a social life that has been very healthy and positive. The staff is caring, despite a fairly high turnover. The setting is attractive and very conveniently located in a very quiet part of Millbrae although very close to the shopping and restaurants area. In July of 2015 we moved my mother into this retirement facility. Her dementia was increasing and she needed more help. Within a month she had to be moved into the memory care area. I was very happy to see that it was still possible for her to have her own room with her family things around her. The room was big enough for us to stay and visit comfortably. She seemed happy and so was I ... She was able to leave the area for her meals in the dining room with the rest of the population. She had her favorite place to sit with her favorite people. The staff there were very good to her. It was a community. ... Her caregivers were the best part. They treated her as if she was their family. We trusted them completely. They became our friends and communicated with us regularly on my mother's health and needs. I will always be grateful for that. ... The med room is the area where her meds were kept and distributed along with attention to her medical needs. I found them extraordinarily helpful on all levels. They are all LVNs and qualified to administer her meds. The department was very helpful when at the end of her life, her meds were changing constantly. ... Again, they treated my mother with respect and kindness along with efficiency. ... I want to name names because, of course my mother had her favorites and so did we. But really, I want to say that it was the facility as a whole that added up to the best place we could have chosen for my mother's care. read more

My mother currently resides here. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They have had massive turn over in past 3 months. Caregiver, LVN's have walked out. They have gotten meds wrong on more than one occasion. The wait time for care is appalling. I've recently moved my parent into Marymount Greenhills Retirement Center and for the most part I have to say all is good, not great but good... The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is decent, and the common areas are clean, somewhat worn but clean... HOWEVER: They advertise "FREE TRANSPORTATION" Monday thur Friday... Yes, there transportation is free (actually its included in their rent) but only when their one and ONLY one driver shows up, if he's sick or on vacation there is NO TRANSPORTATION, if a resident who doesn't have family or doesn't drive has a doctors appointment or needs to get to the bank, grocery store or where ever they are just plain out of luck... they are told to change their doctors appointment or take a cab... I know for a fact, that they have not had any transportation for the last 6 business days... this presents a major problem for someone like myself who travels a lot for business and is gone 7 to 10 days a month... lets face it for an aging parent consistency is crucial to their well being... it has been suggested to the owner by residents, their family members and his own employees that he have a back-up driver, but as of yet nothing has been done to alleviate this problem... read more

All I have to say is the the Executive Director Navin has provided my family with the best customer service. My experience with him has been the best customer service experience that I have had in years.. My Father loves Jazz music and when ever Navin sees my father they talk about Jazz and that makes my dad so happy. He tells me all about it when I go for a visit as if he was a kid who was bringing home an above average report card. It's the little things like that, that can really make someone's day and I just want to say thank you Navin for taking the time to make my father's day a little better with something as simple as that. read more

My dad has been on Marymount for about six months now. I went to visit one day and my dad had a complaint about one if the Lvns. I immediately went Executive Director Navine who at the time was in a meeting. He immediately sent one of his staff out of the meeting to find out what my issue was. She took my information down and told me not to worry they will take care if it and I believe it!! Navine you are the absolute best as well as all the rest of the executive staff. Thanks again! Also, I found that 98% of the LVNS and RNs are extremely professional and really take care of my Dad. No matter where you go there will always be a few that aren't in love with their job. The job they have is difficult and I myself couldn't do it so I would never want a job where I know my patience would be tested. Hats off to the 98%. You have to really love people to do this job and have the patience Job. The same day I voiced my complaint everyone that came in to attend to my father all said they treat all their residents with respect as if they were their own parents. To the 2% that treat the residents bad, one day your own parent might need to be placed somewhere and how would you like it if your parent was treated the way you treat the elderly? Be careful what you give out as it may come back to you 3 fold. read more
