He ended up having a major COPD attack and we told the staff he needed a nebulizer albuterol treatment asap (we were told they had that available if needed) but apparently they didn't have it! The staff had no idea what to do so we called 911 immediately as he literally couldn't breathe. The doctor came in for a minute misdiagnosed my Father and he was not listening to me when I told him all he needs is a treatment! He then became very flustered, argumentative towards me then walked out of the room as my Father is still gasping for air! Never in my life have I encountered a doctor like that! I was just praying the paramedics would get there and what felt like an eternity was a few minutes before they arrived. It ended with him getting a albuterol treatment (like I said) and taken to the hospital by ambulance! This is a common condition and if the staff just listened to me in the first place it wouldn't have ended that way....worst experience of my life and very scary! If I can give this place -5 stars I would.

When we walked the halls, staff from every department would greet us, it was sweet. ok, now about the care... Like all SNF's San Bruno is crowded with clients and staff can only do so much. But, I found that from the cleaners to the nurses, skilled or unskilled, the staff genuinely try their best to give every client the attention they need. Some need much more than others . I was there 5 to 10 hours a day, and got to see how things work. I found that clients with family to assist probably got their needs met quicker. And, the families are encouraged to visit their loved ones. I was welcomed at 7:00AM no restrictions... the outside visiting areas are relaxing. There are lots of airplanes but it's San Bruno so you expect that. I like this facility because it is a family of staff, all working together to help the clients. Even when we were leaving one of the aids came running up to us saying good bye, and she wasn't even working our room ! And, if there are issues Joe and his team do their darnedest to get it resolved. So go team San Bruno SNF , we'll probably see you again !!!

She went into this slum of a facility after her stay at Stanford, where they told us she was suffering from back pain and a UTI and was having some mobility issues due to her back pain. When she was transferred, we attempted to check if she was getting proper medication for said UTI and they told us that they didn't see it in her paperwork and refused to treat her for it. We didn't realize the facility was so bad but now the voicemails of my grandma calling us crying and saying she is scared haunts me to this day. My grandma went into septic shock and died of what they deemed "heart failure" inside of this place. Again, she went in for back pain. Not issues with her heart. NEVER let your loved ones be treated here, if you value their lives.

Generations Health Care (HQ in southern California) operated Saint Francis and my rating pertains to them, not to the current ownership, which took over within a year after COVID-19 was officially declared a pandemic in the U.S.* ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Situated in a quiet corner in a fairly quiet neighborhood but also with easy access from Highways One and 280 is this care facility. Saint Francis Heights was very good for patients from Daly City or coming from the western/southern districts of San Francisco, who needed skilled nursing after a hospital stay. Some of those trying to recover end up requiring 24-hour nursing care long term. The building is at least a few decades old, and rooms don't have the newest shiniest advanced equipment, but it is kept very clean and mostly functioning fine. Staff did their best in caring for patients and residents. Nutritionists did what they could to provide individually tailored meals, but bottom line, the food and beverage were average quality hospital type fare. The pandemic posed the most enormous challenges, with regard to just trying to retain staff and keeping the virus at bay -- a virtually impossible task at any care facility. Many services and amenities were continually postponed or stopped altogether. And unfortunately COVID struck many here, patients and staff alike. Heights administrator communicated to families in a timely manner and heeded guidance from the County, even with constantly changing rules. By the way, St. Francis Heights is not to be confused with St. Francis Pavilion, the two-story structure next door. It's a separate building with a separate administrator. Still, both facilities are under same ownership and utilise laundry and kitchen facilities located at Pavilion and on occasion they share staff. Special thanks to former administrator Kordell, former nursing director Jessica, social service manager Nelai, nurses Carmen and Mary Lou, CNA Carmen and Neil, and Michelle of business office, for all their efforts. Patient care, attention to residents and family briefing were all markedly better when Generations Health Care was operating St. Francis Heights, before it was sold to an east coast company that runs nursing homes.

No training in this department I assume. It just wasn't my mother. I watched a patient screaming in the hall at a nursing assistant who was screaming back at her. 100% unprofessional. their Covid knowledge was absolutely abysmal. They roomed Covid positive people with healthy people, and tried to say that was normal and OK. There were a few times that I observed the nursing assistance sitting in my mother's room, reading a newspaper or watching TV while my mother was sleeping and not caring for her at all. But that was not the majority. But there are bums collecting a paycheck in every occupation. On the flipside, MOST of the nursing assistance really did try. They're overworked, underpaid, understaffed. They don't have to be charming or sweet or entertaining but they do their job. BIG ISSUE! I did draw attention to the on-site nurse, the pharmacy nurse that would pass out medication. They did not watch medicine being taken. I found a collection of pills under my mother's tissue. The pharmacist swore up and down that he had watched my mother take the pills. Had no answer when I presented a handful of them. Nor was there an apology. But I sincerely think most of the people there try hard and an overwhelming job. the food was not cuisine, but it was edible and decent.

When my grandma was in skilled nursing and we were notified last minute that she would be…read moredischarged the following day, my parents and I were extremely shocked and didn't know what to do as my grandma was still having a very hard time ambulating and we were worried that without the rehabilitation offered, she would remain unable to walk on her own any more. They suggested a few home health agencies, but all of them were unable to see my grandma until 3 days after she would discharge and that was too long for her to go without the exercises she would need in order to be able to acheive any level of independence again. A friend of mine got me in contact with Frank and he was able to communicate with the skilled nursing facility to get orders in in order to start care for my grandma on the day following her discharge, so she did not have any break in care. All of the staff that we worked with at HomeAssist were not just super professional, but were extremely kind, caring, and patient, especially when dealing with an older lady that is terrified of most things and her overbearing family (us) that were kind but were full of questions, concerns, and commentary amongst each other. I was here for one full month, and…read moreit was so appalling, the quality of care is non-existent, the language barrier almost sent me to the emergency room because a CNA did not know how to tell the RN that my blood sugar was dropping, by the time the RN actually came to my room, My blood sugar had dropped to 45!! That was not an isolated incident by any means. I was there for serious post-surgical care on a major foot infection, with the doctor's orders to change my dressing twice a day. It was all I could do to get it changed ONCE a day, I reported this directly to the physician her in the facility and he didn't seem to care because nothing changed. I tried explaining to the nurse's that the rest of my life depended on my care at this facility, any faulty care could result in amputation of my leg from the knee down. One day, size 10 rolled around and not one nurse had come to see me all day (with the exception of giving me my meds.) I struggled into the wheelchair, rolled myself to the door of the room, and at the top of my lungs I yelled out "Would someone please come and change my dressing!" Bunch of employees game running, and my dressing was changed immediately. How sad I had to stoop so low to get any medical attention. The staff was neglectful, the RNs were WAY over-worked, and management did not seem to care so long as their protocols were being met. I actually wrote a long complaint letter to the licensing board of the state of California to let them know of how egregious the "care" I received from this facility. DO NOT GO HERE!!
