Professional, peace of mind, I would take my mom there. They asked questions, took a real interest in my Healthcare.

They think they streamlined things by having call centers, but make it impossible for patients to reach their clinics directly when needed. In addition, staff don't know how to remove coverage plans and add them, so patients are erroneously getting billed only to have to correct it and go in circles. Not sure if they fully understand how to use their Epic registration system. read more

Access to care is non-existent, this company will kill you or your family members with months or even years of delays for necessary life saving treatments and/or surgery. Terrible service, terrible clinicians, terrible facilities, the absolute worst. If the lack of access to care wasn't killing people it would be comical how bad they are, but this is no joke. read more

Primary care doctor is retiring in a week and did not bother to inform patients, now patients have to somehow find another doctor with no doctors available in the network. Literally no doctors available in their entire network on my side of the bay. Extremely incompetent and nonchalant behavior by both the physician and the Sutter Health network that is nothing but harmful to the patients. Now I have to quickly find an entirely different network with all new specialists, thanks a lot Sutter Health. read more

0/5. They have a charity application program if you're below an income level to get some help with your bill. Had a clear case where I applied for the program, but they denied my claim. Had 3 different billing team members tell me I had a good appeals case and that they didn't understand my denial. I'm now being told there is *no time limit* on their appeals process, and told me I can either wait for the decision and let my debt go to collections, or to pay the full amount now to avoid hurting my credit score, even though 3 billing team members agreed I should qualified. Tread carefully. Gastroenterology in Burlingame is underpaid and understaffed. It took 4 months of calling the office to schedule a Fibroscan. If I had followed up *every few days* on the message I left with the call center, I might have gotten in sooner. However, the call center should have given my message correctly the first time. My primary phone number was incorrect and permission statement to leave voicemail was incorrect. Speaking of call centers, why can't the local office (not people in Sacramento) answer office phones during office hours? I called to ask if Tums were okay on my 4 hour fibroscan fast. Sacramento claimed they couldn't find a nurse or assistant in Burlingame to ask. When I got to the office half an hour later, there was no one in waiting room, and the front desk was on a personal phone call. Sutter...hire more qualified people, pay them well, incentivize them. Sutter turns over all of its oxygen needs to an outfit called Timberlake, which seems to be run by the three stooges.Timberlake does not feel the need to notify customers they will closed on any one day, nor does Sutter. Timberlake promises to deliver oxygen to customers, and then they do not show up. Sutter should have impeccable relationships with vendors, and yet the service provided is absolutely horrible, wondering how they stay in business. read more

Terrible insurance; they deny claims, bill you two months in advance on day-01 and hound you for payment, offer junk alternative medication prescriptions and are slow in response to grievances once filed. Best to look for insurance else where. read more

The administration at Sutter Cardiology is a disaster. They claim to be open until 5:30 PM and insist that phone calls are the only way to book an appointment. I called at 4:43 PM and was left rotting on hold for nearly an hour. When I finally hung up and redialed, their automated recording had the audacity to claim they closed at 5:00 PM. If you can't even manage a phone line, how can you be trusted with heart health? Absolute incompetence. What am I paying for? read more

Horrible providers 95% of the time. Getting an appointment is nearly impossible. Calls and messages are not responded to. They're overloaded and overbooked with patients. Quality of care sucks. Getting prescription refills and having authorizations not expire is like pulling teeth from an alligator. Save yourself the hassle and bullshi* and just go to UCSF or Kaiser. read more

Impossible bureaucracy, poor health care, high prices. Communication is often impossible. Hard to schedule - even to get to the right department, and it is hard/impossible to message your provider. Highly bureaucratic - you must fill out the same forms time after time, even if you just had an appointment with them. In addition, the care is poor. I was in their hospital during the height of Covid and nurses did not wear masks. Finally, there are high prices - one of my doctors transferred to Sutter and the price for a procedure doubled. All in all, very bad! I would give Sutter negative stars if I could. read more

The worst company ever. All they care about is how to maximize profits. Totally overpriced.

Sutter health billing in Santa Cruz is the most inept billing department I've ever had to deal with. It's going on now 9 months that Sutter billing has incorrectly billed for 2 of my appointments. Appointments were in May. Mistake after mistake has been made. I've had to date 3 3-way conversations with Sutter billing and my insurance and Sutter billing still can't get it correct. Now a coding issue they said I was under hospice. A Modifier GT code..lol...don't know what that means. (I'm not even close to be under hospice) . I've even considered leaving Sutter and going over to Kaiser to avoid the headaches of this medical institution. Sharon Johnson read more

Worst place ever. I have been with them for years. There billing system is messed up. No one knows what they are doing. After several calls today I was told that I have a huge credit. If I could give 0 stars I would. They cancel appointments & don't respond to new appointment requests. Every time I schedule an appointment I have to find time to take off work like most people. Then I cant call the actual person directly, I have to go through a customer service person & I never see a resolution. read more

Absolutely criminal price gouging. Sutter Health invoiced me (uninsured) nearly 900- for three x-ray views of foot, with 700- payable out of pocket. My girlfriend (insured) was billed under 200- and paid well under 100- for two x-ray views. read more

Billing in this medical group is way overpriced. Billing in this medical group does not follow guidelines established by the Medical Insurance. It's like third world health care. The worst patient experience I've ever had. It takes weeks to get testing, then weeks to get to the specialist, then weeks to see the specialist, then weeks to get the actual surgery I desperately need. I tried my best to not pull the racist card but this is definitely who Dr. K is...a racist. On my mom's first visit with Cardiologist Dr. David Kurzrock I was unable to accompany her unfortunately because of work. She said he kept talking over her, he would make assumptions Instead of listening to her concerns. He misdiagnosed her and said she has Type 2 Diabetes (my mom is pre diabetic even her primary Doctor is wondering why he put that she has type 2 and that's false. He prescribed her to 2 RX without running ANY tests on her. I told my mom not to take it until test are ran and we see what the problem is. He also noted On the visitation summary that she's a "Ghanian Immigrant" ...since when was it necessary for doctors to put that on a patient's chart? Not sure what his point was for saying that. On my mom's 2nd visit I made sure I was there. As he walked in the room and saw both of us...he spoke and mumbled and he spoke to us as if he was "disgusted". You can just tell from his facial expressions and the way he spoke. A doctor shouldn't just assume becuase you're a certain race that you "automatically" have this...let's run the test 1st before assuming. I know a good doctor when I see one. He may be a good doctor to others but our experience wasn't good. He wasn't compassionate Very disappointing. read more

Sutter has been sending me bills for $55,000.00 for six months, although they know I have medical insurance and have heard from me repeatedly. In a 3-way conversation with me and my insurer they finally discovered that they have been using the wrong address to bill my medical group. And even after that conversation, they haven't rectified the situation. Although I liked the medical people, there is no option but to let others know that you may end up receiving frightening and inaccurate bills. read more

Healthcare should be built on empathy, skill, and dedication. But somehow, the hiring practices don't reflect that at all. Instead, qualified candidates are being overlooked while positions stay empty and care suffers. And everyone pretends they don't know why morale is low and turnover is high. The truth is simple: you cannot prioritize patient care while ignoring the people capable of providing it. Until hiring processes are fair, efficient, and respectful, the system will keep failing the exact people it's meant to serve. read more

I went to urgent care on 4/3/25 and the 2 front desk males made me feel like I was not welcome. Barking orders, "line is over there" not even looking at me. Not a "hi" "we'll be right with you" just pointing in the direction I need to go. It's my turn and the guy says, give me your insurance card. I tell him I don't have health insurance. He replies, "it's $380 just to be seen and I need payment now". That is almost triple of any other walk in urgent care. But I was already there and I was in pain. You would think they would cut you a break if you are uninsured (nope). On my initial form for the reason I am there, I put ear pain, swollen gland and laryngitis. While I was seeing the Doctor, she asked me if I wanted a strep test. I said NO! She continues to get the swab out and stands in front of me with the swab and says, "I think you should". I said NO a second time and she says, "are you sure". I felt pressured and she was not taking no for an answer. She diagnosed me with an ear infection and sends a script to my pharmacy. My step test was negative (which I knew it would be since I was there for ear pain and not a sore throat). I'm finished and go back out to the front desk and he shews me away with "your good". I then get a bill for the strep test and now my bill for an ear infection is almost $500! What a rip off! Stay away from Sutter Health. They rape the insured AND the uninsured! There are far cheaper places to go for a simple infection. read more

I went to the one in Mt. View and although Dr. Yamamoto I felt was a good surgeon, I can't say the same about the rest. When I had my femur rod taken out, 2 weeks later went back and someone else took out the stitches, cut my skin while doing it, and never saw the Dr. Then when I did see the Dr. 2 weeks after that, he didn't say if my bone was healing, he was running 1/2 hour behind so wanted to get out the door. Now since then I broke a rib and couldn't finish my physical therapy, so since it's been 7 weeks I called his office to see if it would be safe to go back to PT for my leg. Well the girl didn't take my message correct, she calls back 2 days later and say the Dr. doesn't handle broken ribs and for me to call my primary Dr. REALLY??? read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my friend who lives in California. She went in for the first time with and Eating Disorder, and the doctor ended up screaming at here. If I could leave less than one star I would. This review is not about the Doctors, all that I have seen have been a tentative and caring. My issue is with their billing and scheduling. I had a CT scan that their staff did not verify my health insurance and just assumed that they would not have to do pre authorization. They told us that it was approved, we did the scan, and then we found out that my insurance declined the charge. Our insurance said all Sutter had to do was submit a pre-authorization and they would cover the procedure. Sutter refused to submit this and now we are out thousands of dollars. Our second issue is that now they can't seem to keep our appointments. We have had more than one appointment rescheduled and each time the next available appointment is more than 4 months away. This means we have been waiting almost a year for three appointments to happen. If you are looking for a new doctor, don't look here, go elsewhere. read more

I visited a Sutter Health endocrinologist for a second opinion under a high-deductible plan. The visit provided no new insights, recommendations, or treatment changes--just a confirmation of what I already knew. They also incorrectly charged me for blood lab since 2 departments even cannot pass insurance information to each other.Despite this, I was hit with a bill over $600. Sutter showed zero flexibility in adjusting the charges, unlike other institutions like Stanford, which are far more patient-friendly. I recommend seeking care elsewhere or confirming all costs upfront to avoid surprises. read more

I'm writing to share an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Dr. Davarpanah and Sutter Health that raises serious concerns about their approach to both patient care and billing practices. I went in for what was supposed to be a routine annual exam, only to find out that discussing personal health concerns--even related to existing conditions--is not allowed unless it's billed as a separate office visit. Seriously? What's the point of an annual exam if you're not even allowed to talk about your health? To make matters worse, I was charged nearly $400 because the doctor on her own decided to increase the dosage of a medication I was already taking. I never brought this up, and it certainly wasn't based on any recent lab work. The decision was made using outdated blood tests from over a year and a half ago--even though my numbers have remained stable year after year. That's not just arbitrary--it's irresponsible. This entire experience felt impersonal, unfair, and frankly, like a blatant money grab. It's deeply troubling to see a healthcare system more focused on padding bills than providing thoughtful, patient-centered care. And forget not, Sutter Health is a nonprofit organization. Or should they be called only for profit by scamming the patients they are supposed to treat. If this is how they treat someone trying to proactively manage their health, I fear for how they handle more serious issues. It's now been nearly seven months. I've been bounced from department to department. I was told an "ethics committee" reviewed the case and stood by the charge. But no one ever contacted me for my side of the story. How can a review be fair when the patient is excluded entirely? The process has been completely opaque and lacking in accountability. At this point, I feel morally obligated to speak out. In my opinion, Dr. Davarpanah's actions were unethical, and my trust in both her and Sutter Health is gone. I strongly advise others to think carefully before entrusting their care to this provider or this healthcare system. I will not be returning. read more

Super expensive care for what feels like advice you'd find on WebMD. More specifically, Sutter Health Mental Health services. Dr Fadi has the personality of a saltine cracker and he'll charge you several hundred dollars to read off questions. Did I meet with a robot (who was late) for 45 minutes? The billing at this organization is fraud and after I do this review will report the organization to be audited to the extreme by the state and insurance companies who deal with them. To many patients as myself have been ripped off. When your bill is paid by your insurance they continue to bill the patient. When trying to call to get it corrected the billing rep continues to say they will correct their error but it take 30 to 45 days. After the time period is up and it should have been corrected when you call they ask you to wait an additional 30 to 45 days and refuse to put the account on hold, which it is ridiculous since it is their faultl the account has not been properly corrected. Then after all of this Sutter sends your account to collections and ruin your credit when they can clearly see the account has already been paid but refuse to update their system. Do not trust this company. Their billing practices are done by incompetent staff that needs extensive training on crediting the patient account. The saddest part you can't get a hold of anybody who actually know what they are doing. read more

Senior citizen beware. They are refusing to treat my stepdad. He needs a mesh in his heart valve, and they are refusing to treat him. He had a transfusion of 1 red blood cell because of the valve. I have to agree with the other people on yelp reviews. Sutter Health can treat patients terribly. I've had two doctors cut off my medication's with not a thought about calling me explaining to me why and an alternative. They just do it and don't communicate with you, I find it so insulting. I love my primary care doctor, but I have found doctors outside of Sutter Health who seem to care more. Don't have a corporation telling them what to do and actually communicate with me. Sutter Health cost my blood pressure to be higher than it already was. Corporate healthcare is not good for patients. It's only good for the corporation. read more

The dr, David E Ellison besides being rude/dismissive is also incompetent but that's besides the point. UCSF (where I should have gone as I have in the past, only changed this time because I am trying to see doctors more around where I work vs live) is 100000000x better. Not only in terms of staff and the expertise, but billing practices. They sent via snail mail the bill (not a huge deal usually) clearly acknowledging the date printed 1/21 and then they mail it to me...with a DUE DATE OR COLLECTIONS TYPE OF VIBE by 2/18/22. I just received it this week. 2/12.
