We stopped for lunch and hubby was very pleased with the special - - hot beef sandwich over mashed potatoes! I had a slice of pizza and a soda, which is a lunch special. My pepperoni pizza was hot and tasty! I started off with a nice dinner salad-- the homemade ranch dressing is incredible. Hubby loved his sandwich. Waitress took our drink orders and promptly brought out bottles. Phone was ringing off the hook for to-go orders. We ordered and waited a bit as the kitchen was backed up a little. No biggie, we weren't in a hurry. Ordered 2 pizzas "the house special" and the "red white and bleu". The special was good, crust was thinner and good. The marinara sauce wasn't my fav. We often drive their as the pizza is amazing with a heap of toppings! This time we ordered some chicken strips as an appetizer and they definitely were not worth the price very small and came minutes before the pizza. When I seen another table order after we did and receive their salads I asked how much longer( we were on a lunch break) and the waitress snapped people were here before you. The pizza was different this time, not much toppings as before and the cheese wasn't the same Still decent but we drive 45 minutes and i doubt we will be making a special trip again. Since we wanted to get outa town and check out Georgioz (it was recommended by some aquaintances), tonight was the night. We ordered the House Special and were not disappointed. I think we'd request another minute in the oven to get a little more crispy, but there was the right amount of sauce on it, and the sauce itself had flavor. They have a few wines and a decent selection of bottled beer and they sell Pepsi products (boo). The staff is friendly and adequate, all though it seemed like I had to flag ours down to ask for things, but she was prompt with my requests. Besides pizza, they have a variety of yummy sandwiches and salads, kid's menu and apps as well. A friend ordered a sandwich and it didn't come with any sides but the sandwich was toasted and enormous! Easily 2 meals out of that. So, if this place is sooo amazing why only 4 stars? Because it was so unbelievably hot in there. It was unbearable. Maybe they don't want their customers to stick around and chat? Maybe it's to sell more beer? I don't know the reason, but it was ridiculously hot inside. Just passing through from New Mexico it was a great find for dinner. The outside doesn't look like it's a restaurant but the inside is cute and nicely decorated. You can see them make your food with a few open kitchen spots. When we got there in the afternoon the waitress said they were out of pasta and dessert so it must be a hopping place for locals. Me and a friend shared a create your own pizza and it was great! We've had better but for an old, small town on the highway it was an awesome find! I'm really sorry to give you a 2-Star but I can't say it's a 3 or higher...based on my experiences. I stop in Colfax on my way through several times a year and many people have told me to try the pizza here...tonight was the night to do it... First off, the place is obviously well trafficked and well liked - which is good and I hope it stays that way. I order carry-out and my order was ready when I arrived. Secondly, the pizza toppings (Canadian bacon and pineapple) were generous and there was lots of cheese. No problems with the toppings. Third, the base seems to be premade...like the kind you could at the nearby Casey's or Kum & Go...honestly, I think Kum & Go and Casey's have better pizza than this at a fraction of the price. Finally, the sauce is spicy and uninspiring and was overly applied. Truthfully, this reminded me a better frozen pizza. I think the pizza, if they still serve it, at nearby Poppy's is the same or similar product. I wouldn't order pizza here ever again primarily because of the base and sauce. I would like to come back and try a sandwich or something else...the place was clean; the staff member I dealt with was friendly, and they were open till 11 p.m. on a Saturday...pluses in my opinion. Someone told me this was Iowa's best pizza...not to my taste but I'm glad others liked it. Colfax is a nice little town with great people...so stop in at Georgioz and try the pizza for yourself or have a sandwich. I didn't like it (Sammy's in downtown Fargo, North Dakota is among the best I've ever had) but maybe you will and you'll be spending time and money in a nice little town with great people. Coming from the East Coast, we are lucky to have awesome pizza everywhere. This place is pretty good and I would recommend it to anyone in the area or passing by. But it is not up to East Coast standards for pizza. The pizza crust was the weak link but passable. The sauce was the best part. Customer service was prompt and friendly. Beer and wine are available. I stopped here for lunch on a road trip from Illinois to Colorado. The service was good and friendly. Our server who is also the owner told us a little about his place and the pizzas and was very good about substitutions (we had vegetarians in our party who wanted one of his specialty pizzas without meat). The pizza itself was not bad. I thought some of his creations were a little far fetched (I did not try them, so I can't say for sure but the mix of ingredients sounded a little weird for pizza). People aren't lying when they say the place doesn't look like much from the outside at night. Walking up to the door brings great smells. The decor inside is nice and not what we expected from the outside. The beer menu is deceiving because many beers are listed but the are not in the cooler. Tried Georgioz after reading the reviews here on Yelp. We were staying in Colfax after riding to Newton on RAGBRAI and didn't want to travel to a bigger town and fight the crowds. Georgioz did NOT disappoint! From the appetizers to salads to pizza it was all delicious! The handmade ranch dressing was the best I've had in years. The pizzas, we had three, were full of fresh ingredients and plenty of cheesy goodness. Other reviews said the place itself was dark and rundown, but we didn't find that at all! My family and I live in another state and checked out this place during a recent vacation. We met the owner and were impressed with his passion for great pizza. We were also impressed with the cleanliness and decor. The menu was extensive. We tried 3 different pizzas and loved them all!!! Dope pizza, but damn recently we ordered a garlic cheese pizza with chicken on half of it as a to go order. Got it back and it was some kind of weird pizza with peppers, tomatoes, anchovies, and mushrooms on all of it. To give them credit they did put chicken on half of it lol. No big deal, but when we called back to let them know and to order a new one, the lady who answered would approve a discounted pizza. I'm a fan of peppers and all that stuff but anchovies straight up ruined the while thing.
