Historically, it was known for its deep dish pizza. It's been around for over fifty years. It's been open since 1975 and when the owner retired he sold it to one of his employees who worked for him since he was 14. It's like a pub with bar food and pizza. The difference is the higher quality of its food. The hamburgers are all made fresh(6oz) still $12 for lunch. . It's also my kind of place because I found out they make and cook their own roast beef every week. I was told it's Angus pride top round, kitchen seasoned with some spices put inside the beef and slow roasted in their kitchen, to give it that Italian style.They use the drippings for the "au jus" then thin slice it for their Italian dip sandwiches, putting provolone cheese on top a toasted piece of Italian bread. Still $12 for the lunch version and they also can give it a little Philly cheese steak style if you want grilled peppers and onions mushrooms. They also have grinders using slow cooked graziano sausage, Classic Iowa style baked cavatelli, still $12 for lunch they make a Chicago style deep dish pizza, and thin style as well, still $12 for a lunch pizza with two toppings and a salad. They offer a gluten free pizza as well. There's other things including chicken and ground , beef tacos and a variety of toppings offered on both thin crust and chicago style , deep dish pizza. Several types of salads. All kinds of other sandwiches from chicken,fresh tenderloins, and fresh meatballs. Plus numerous old school pub type appetizers and a kid's menu! They also offer lots of beer choices and have quite a variety, 16 craft beers and soda.I usually have my one slingshot dunkel from Iowa's Coralville Back Pocket Brewery. The bartenders always make me feel welcome and let me try a little bit of any beer I want to try and make sure I get my food quickly. It is always hot and delicious.

A few minutes later, Courtney the general manager came to our table and apologized about the pizza. She was truly sorry about the pizza and even said she talked to the chef about cooking it longer but he said it might burn the pizza if they did that. And it had so many toppings on it that it might not make a difference on the crust. So she wanted me to pick something else on their menu for free. I was going to decline but she insisted, so I chose the cavatelli. They made it for me and brought it out quickly. We appreciated everything Derek and the GM did to make it up to us which really wasn't necessary. They went above and beyond. I felt bad about it but they wanted our first visit there to be great. Then when Derek brought our bill to us, we saw that they comped both the pizza and the extra cavatelli. So they were only charging us for my husband's meal. AND Derek brought us a free dessert. My husband and I were flabbergasted. They did way more for us than they should have. We have never been treated so well at a restaurant before. I didn't think that restaurants and waitstaff like this existed. It seems like since Covid, when you go to restaurants, they're understaffed or the workers don't seem like they want to be there and barely acknowledge you. But here they bend over backwards to make sure you're happy. I love that and appreciate everything they did. The atmosphere is casual yet upscale. It feels cozy and welcoming, too.
