The people that work here were very nice. The place was homey and looks like a legit bbq place. The bathroom had a heavy urine smell and the urinal was caked with yellow stains. The food is 1 star at best. I love bbq, and I have a high bar, but I ALWAYS finish my food and I couldn't get through this one. The pulled pork tasted like crock pot pork, zero smoke flavor, it was the consistency of cat food. The ribs also felt like oven ribs, the meat tasted turned. I ate one bite and could barely swallow. The sauces must have been sitting around unrefridgerated and were so spoiled they were carbonated with bubbles rising to the top. The sides were the highlight, especially the fried okra and fries, their fry cook should teach their pit master something. The Brunswick stew was one texture with the occasional corn kernel. While traveling home over thanksgiving my wife and I stopped to refuel. We like to try out different foods and local flavors and Georgia Bob's fit the bill. Order from the counter and seat yourself wherever. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Our food was delivered to our table and everything else is self serve. Stopped on the way to Florida, had never been to a Bobs BBQ, which apparently is a small chain. Not many cars in the parking lot at lunch which is never a good sign. The pulled pork was tasty but nothing special, not much smoke taste without the sauce. Sauces were good. Probably need to try more meats. Where they shined was the sides. The fried okra, brunswick stew and even the French fries were spot on, crispy, hot and fresh. Service was quick but not that friendly. I'd stop again if in the area at mealtime, but I wouldn't seek this place out. read more

Met for an appointment for lunch. Ordered two drinks while conducting business. Went back later and ordered lunch I had pull pork sandwich as they don't have sliced pork I got a cheap small hamburger bun with an ice cream scoop size glob of pulverized pork I had to take a fork to smash it down to cover the small bun. No sides came with it Best part, is the bill said I got charged for two waters in addition to the drinks. We never got water but charged. When I called they had no response but sorry. Behind her, you could see two people in the kitchen sitting bored. One of these two had huge, long, curly hair tied back but not in a hair net. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork platter. The pork was just ok but the brisket was horrible. It was obvious that the piece of rubber, I mean brisket, had been microwaved to heat it up - possibly more than once. Disappointing overall. The BBQ lacked flavor and any real smoky taste, it was vinegary and sour, the fries were very basic, and the ranch tasted bottled. The white bread that comes with the plates had a very bad chlorine taste. Even the mac and cheese fell flat with no flavor. Will not be eating here again. I took Boss Hogg (my trucker dog/kid) out to lunch it looks like back in early fall to put this place under the 3rd BBQ restaurant for my Summer BBQ series of southern places and accidentally missed the review. This summer I was on a mission to have a variety of BBQ. And I will not deny this is in the Top 3 that I went to this summer. The ribs and brisket, baked beans and Mac n cheese was delicious and very flavorful with 3 different bbq sauces to choose from. The staff of young girls did a great job and were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and giving recommendations on the sauces. I have the spot Bookmarked and will definitely return when I get my bbq cravings. read more

The chicken strips were great and so was the fried pork chop, the tea was ultra sweet (which I enjoy but some don't) and the banana pudding was decent. The vibes of the restaurant reflected that of an old BBQ joint, which it is, and the decor was pretty fitting. The seats were cool looking, but shifted and cracked when a heavier set person sat on them. It was counter service only, but I had no complaints about the staff. The bathrooms could use some deep cleaning though and the toilet handle was broken in the men's room, but rather than fixing it they just had a sign that looked like it had been there for ages telling you to hold down the handle until it flushed. Not a good impression when you go into a flooded bathroom floor and the bottom of the toilets look like they have never been wiped down. Hubby had to watch the men's bathroom so I could go in there. Where there was also water on the floor. Menu is vague as to how many sides you get. I ordered brisket, chicken salad, green beans and salad. Was told there wasn't an up charge for the salad- but- according to the receipt, there was. Hubby had ribs, chicken salad, baked beans and a side salad. My brisket was less than the size of a deck of cards. Very disappointing. My husband had 2 dried out small ribs. Salad was fresh. We were just passing through and wouldn't recommend. Used to be good. Not anymore. Food was just fair. The smoked ribs were lacking any type of smoke taste. Basically tasted like oven baked ribs. Sonny's has much better. The bottles of barbecue sauce on the table are disgusting. One tasted spoiled/sour. They were all sticky. Didn't appear that anything gets wiped down. This is the last time we will ever come to the GA Bobs in Byron. It is sad actually, because we really used to like it here. Spend your money somewhere im else. We stopped here during a road trip and SO GLAD WE DID! I ordered ahead for take out and didn't even look at the menu, so when I went to pay I was shocked by how cheap it was for 2 of us to eat! We both had pulled pork sandwiches, I had sweet bbq, and he went with spicey, it was so good, just small portions. I recommend getting 2 sandwiches if your super hungry, for the price it won't hurt. They offer three sauces- spicy-mild and sweet I liked it so well we got a bottle of the sweet to take home with us. I'm from Kansas City and have also lived in Texas near the DFW area so I feel like I know good BBQ. Unfortunately Georgia Bobs at this location wasn't good BBQ. My wife ordered a pulled pork plate and I ordered a combo plate with 3 meats. Mine were brisket, pulled pork and ribs. Pork and brisket came sauced and quite heavy. The brisket was chopped and not sliced and in Texas there is typically only one reason you chop, because it's the cheap cut or a select grade brisket or possibly a choice grade. The brisket and pork was ok, but I couldn't really taste it because it was sauced so heavily. The ribs were awful, the color and texture seemed as if they were boiled and then seasoned and thrown on a Weber for a couple minutes. They were not tender and had no flavor. We had four sides the baked beans, potato salad and Mac and Cheese with the garlic toast. They were ok but not great. The beans were very plain and I could tell they use a Pork and Beans, which is ok, but I could taste the base ingredients. The positive and biggest highlight was the banana pudding. Thought they were well priced until I got my food. I was very disappointed with the portion size. I ordered the pick 2 (I chose ribs, and brisket). I got 2 ribs and 2 lunch meat thin slices of brisket. Even the sides were a bit skimpy. I got about 1/2 cup of Brunswick stew and maybe a dozen sweet potato tots which are about 1/2 the size of a regular tater tot. Ribs had no bark on them, no smoke ring and tasted more like they were steamed or boiled. "Texas style brisket" wasn't bad tasting but was sliced like lunch meat and soaked in some kind of sauce. Pretty sure any Texan would deny this as "Texas style brisket." Brunswick stew had the consistency of baby food and tasted like minestrone. Sadly, the best item I ate was their sweet potato tots. I came here because my Uber driver told me it's the best barbecue in the Macon,Ga area. He said they have multiple awards and everything. I don't see it. Don't order the brisket. We were told by an employee that the brisket comes pre-sauced because it comes in a plastic bag and is reheated. What self-respecting BBQ joint sells "brisket from a plastic bag"? I believe most brisket eaters will agree that pre-saucing brisket is blasphemous!
