I dropped off a dress in perfect condition, only to have it be returned ripped. When I asked the manager about it, I was yelled at and he said that he had been operating for twenty years and all his customers love him. He refused to fix the rip or give a refund. Mistakes absolutely happen, but yelling at a customer over a mistake they made is unacceptable. I would recommend taking your clothes, especially nice dresses, elsewhere. read more

On several occasions been have returned items to me that are noticeably dirty, that are stained, or that smell dirty. She also broke a button my shirt and put it back with a safety pin. I requested a quote and GV was near my neighborhood and had competitive prices. I quickly found street parking; dropped off (2) pair of pants to be hemmed and within 2 days they were available for pick up. I tried one pair prior to leaving and the fit was good. The only thing that was a little off-putting was not allowing me to use my 10% YELP discount (because I had alterations done oppose to regular dry cleaning). Even though I live in VA, this has been my go-to dry cleaner for a while. HOWEVER, a couple of weeks ago, I dropped off 2 pairs of pants to be dry cleaned and they were, instead, MACHINE WASHED AND DRIED. They are now faded, too tight, and too short. I called the store about the issue when I got home and realized what had happened and was told that I must have asked for a laundry service instead of dry cleaning. I have never ordered a laundry service in my life. I had to purchase new pants to replace them, unfortunately, only one pair was replaceable. All in all, good service not without flaw. A little too expensive for regular use. Each item was $7-12. I tend to seek out $5 and under for clothing. And the mystery. I'll change is a bit bothersome. How many have been "gotten" by that tactic. Service: The woman at the counter for drop off was pleasant. She attended to me quickly as I walked into the empty shop. During pick-up the gentleman was helpful and courteous. He let me know one blouse remained stained despite their best efforts. He also took care of a would be issue preemptively. We'll get back to that. Cost: At drop off, 6 items (3 blouses, 1 dress, 2 pants) rang up to 45 dollars. Much higher than my usual "discount, but decent" $30 or less bill for similar items at another location I regularly visit. At pick up-- the issue/non issue-- the bill had gone up 7 dollars for some anonymous reason. If I hadn't been attentive (say rushed for a quick pick up, errands run) I could have paid that amount without having noticed. Not cool. Fortunately and to his credit, the gentleman employee caught it and said, "no, you'll pay the original bill." Note: they are proponents of "organic" cleaning. I'm not sure why you are listed as providing same day service. I bring dress shirts in for laundry (no dry clean) and I have to play a game with the woman at the counter. No same day and no next day. She's always telling me 3-4 days for laundry. Then we play the game and she may cut it down by a day, depending on her mood, I guess. Maybe it's me, but she's not always the friendliest person. HOWEVER, they do a good job, which is why I continue to use them in addition to proximity to my home. If I could find an alternative, I would. Please do not give the impression that you provide same day. I can't even get next day - on laundered shirts. read more

Sent over 20 items to be dry cleaned after reading the good reviews and my suit jacket was returned like this. The matching pants are in a similar condition. Have not heard back from them after messaging. The rest of the items seem fine but will not be going back after spending $150 on cleaning and getting my items damaged. I went here for a tailoring of a suit and shirt because they got good reviews but I am incredibly disappointed. The alterations cost over $100 but make both the suit and shirt unwearable. They are needed for an event in a week, and unfortunately there is not enough time or money to replace them. Please do not go to Georgetown Valet for your tailoring, it is incredibly frustrating. I typicllay use the cleaners for alterations more than anything. I frequented another cleaners on H Street until they closed two years ago. The owner recommended Georgetown Valet at this location, and so far I've been more than pleased. The woman that does the alterations is phenomenal. My alterations are normally complex, but the turnaround time is impressive. My dry cleaning experience has been okay, but again I'm overall pleased with their service, professionalism, and attention to detail. read more

They ruined a beautiful Loro Piana shirt. When i pointed out the damage they refused to accept any responsibility and accused me of lying about it. I was out at a bar and the gentleman next to me spilled red wine on my white pants... Like the whole, full glass. I thought these pants were goners and the woman at the counter was even skeptical. This place is the BEST! I have been going to them for several years and will not go anywhere else. They have worked miracles on my clothes - including once removing a horrible, huge red wine stain from a light blue dress. I even had a sheepskin rug that was badly damaged in a flood that they returned to me looking like new! On top of that, they do beautiful alterations and repairs. They are friendly and professional. I dropped off a button down shirt and suit jacket for alterations. Due to the method of sewing, there is tension in the armpits area of both the shirt and jacket. So much so that it pinches when I raise my arms. The arms of the shirt are tight and short, leaving me to struggle to get the buttons done on the sleeves. After the buttons are done, the sleeves ride up from being too short and the tightness of the armpit stitch. The pulling of the armpit stitch on my suit jacket changes the fit, making it bunch on the sides. The shoulder pads have a lumpy appearance. The arms are too long and wide falling past the arms of the shirt and my wrists. The sewing and stitching is just sloppy. I would have waited longer if it meant a better result. I was going to take it back, but I don't trust them to fix it. I should have known when the lady only measured one of my arms for the alterations that this wasn't going to be good. I am just frustrated that I spent $100+ for my new clothes to be destroyed. read more

Weddings are expensive and they continue to be expensive even afterwards! I was overdue for my dress preservation and felt overwhelmed as I didn't quite know what that was and where to get it done at a reasonable price. I searched and wrote messages to different dry cleaners in the DMV via Yelp and the response from Georgetown Valet made the best impression. Even though this place was about 40 minutes drive from my house in VA, I was most attracted to the environment friendly products they use. Joanne was very prompt, professional, and perceptive with her responses to the many questions and concerns I had with the process and pricing. The total for the preservation of two wedding dresses were very reasonable and they did an amazing job! I also checked in via Yelp for 10% off dry cleaning for my third dress from my wedding. I was very satisfied with the work and pricing for all three dresses, as well as the overall experience in this process that I was very worried about. Everyone there was also very friendly and helpful, which added to the overall wonderful experience. I started going here because a friend recommended it. She took a pair pf pants there one time and when she went back to pick them up, there was a $20 bill pinned to the pants. She had left the money in her pocket. How often does something like that happen in DC? Aside from that, they do a great job with my dry cleaning and I get all my alterations done there. The prices are very reasonable for the Hill, and everyone is very friendly (again, something hard to find in DC sometimes). I didn't rush out to purchase an "I'm not a plastic bag" tote, but I do have a stash of envirosax that I bring with me to the store, farmer's market, etc. To that end Georgetown Valet helps me feel a little bit better about my dry cleaning habit. Advertising themselves as "environmentally friendly" (a fact I have not researched or question extensively but take on face value), Georgetown Valet is my single stop for dry cleaning and simple tailoring. Skirt hem that inexplicably came undone? Fixed in under a week and all the better for it! Skirt with an all-too-explicable buffalo wing stain? Clean and sharply pressed! Prices are "average" (~$4 for single pieces, and under $10 for simple hemming) and they even have a handy bar-coded card that fits on my keyring for easy in and out transfers. If I can get out of my house 5 minutes earlier than usual, I can drop off my dry cleaning and end up at work early (don't ask)! If you're coming from the NE and commuting over to Eastern Market or heading down to Union Station it's practically on your way and a block away from Jacob's coffee (or, if you're a slurpee person, 7-11). read more

I am bummed that I found this place just as I am moving away from the Hill. After horrible experiences at Metro Cleaners and Capitol Hill Valet I was hesitant to try any place else on the Hill. However, with my garbage bag overflowing with stuff to be dry-cleaned/altered I thought I would give it a shot. While I have yet to go pick up my stuff, I was impressed by the lady who was doing the alterations (she pinned my items correctly and explained which seams she was creating/cutting) and their prices were very reasonable. Been my cleaners for four years now, and wouldn't go anywhere else, but hadn't written a review. However, now I have to. I picked up my laundry, in terrific shape, as always, and the lady told me I'd left something in my pocket and handed me a little envelope. Not that unusual, as I can be forgetful. When I got back in the car, I opened the envelope, and in it was a wad of $155 in cash. Update to my review: After speaking with the owner, he told me that if they didn't locate my shirt they would make arrangements to replace my shirt since I was a first-time customer. He was very apologetic and followed-up daily until they found my shirt today. I dropped-off 7 of my shirts yesterday and asked to have them ready by Sat. I received 7 shirts back the next day, but, one was NOT mine. Like a good citizen, I took back the shirt that wasn't mine. Unfortunately, they said that it will take up to 2 weeks to locate my shirt. Chances are it is gone forever. It is challenging to find a dry cleaner who is friendly, does a great job cleaning/altering garments, doesn't lose them and remembers your name when you come in. They do a really great job on getting stains out of my silk shirts and my dress pants are always neatly pressed. I have had a few things altered, a hole in a sweater repaired and buttons replaced and it all came out great. Best dry cleaner in the city. We live 15 minutes away, have a bunch of cleaners within a few blocks away and we still drive here. They do a great job with everything. My wife even had her wedding gown cleaned and packed in an airtight bag here. Was expensive but worth it. Great dry cleaning service, it is on the Hill so it is expensive; as things go. They do a wonderful job and are a green cleaning business which is why I chose Georgetown Valet. I travel an immense amount for work and the fact that Georgetown Valet has come to my door to pick up and drop off my dry cleaning is a god send - sure it is a few bucks but it makes everything vastly easier. I went to get my bridesmaid dresses hemmed and they did a fantastic job! I was really worried about leaving my dress since it's pretty close to the wedding but I was very pleased with the results.
