All offerings were great - crabcakes weren't huge but were mainly crab. Fried proteins were executed quite well. Potato salad was the best of the sides, even as they were all solid. Would get each dish again. This spot is definitely a hidden gem in Georgetown! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. When placing my order, I was torn between two dishes, but the lovely lady at the counter shared what the restaurant is best known for and offered excellent suggestions. She even gave me samples of the sides to help me decide, which was a thoughtful touch! I'm not usually a fan of hush puppies since I don't like corn, but these were perfectly golden and crispy with no noticeable pieces of corn. I decided on the crabcake sandwich with fries, and it was good! She mentioned it might take about 15 minutes, which I appreciated. Another kind lady came around offering ice water to guests, and the entire team went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. With a hangover in head and a hankering for fried creature clusters, I came to Georgetown Seafood for the calamari and stayed for the lobster roll and clam chowder. Stylized like a seafood market of yore, the ordering process is simple. You receive a number to take to your table, which is almost a comfortable nostalgia in the age of QR codes. I elected to sit outside for the ambience (or lack thereof) of Potomac Avenue and was not disappointed. Parallel parking escapades and a perfectly timed Saturday afternoon food delivery made for horn hijinks of the highest order. Dinner and a show! The calamari came first. The portion size was decent and the breading seasoned well. Peppered and salted nicely, the squid was tender. The fried onions were a welcome edition that paired perfectly with the two sauces. Life is your oyster as you decide your fate: a bright, crisp cocktail sauce with a welcome bite or a spicy mayo or aïoli as we are supposed to say now. Up next, clam chowder and lobster roll. For me at least the ratio of clam to clam chowder is crucial and they nailed it. There was a clam or piece of clam in every bite and I wasn't even trying to maneuver my spoon. The lobster roll was so excellent. I forgot to take a picture. A soft, toasted potato roll piled high with lobster meat accented with a herbed lemon butter. Lobster rolls should feel generous, and this certainly did the trick approaching the golden ratio of one-to-one bread/meat. If I was older, or had more money to spend, I would be back more often. It is a pricey, as everything these days and I should make better financial decisions than dying full of the sea and empty of the wallet. That said, the sea calls and worth the try! read more

Lovely little shop, super friendly people and service, food was overall decent but just not for me (nor is the location right off M in a busy part of georgetown). Lobster roll has a decent amount of lobster, but the lobster quality was just ok, the roll was not buttered/toasted so the texture didn't help. A solid 4-5 bites. The lobster bisque is served piping hot, very rich, nice flavor, didn't need to add the lobster on top. Came as a party of four and ordered the crab cake sandwich with his puppies and potato salad, lobster roll with hush puppies (no bread, Gluten-Free allergy), fish and chips with hush puppies and potato salad, and salmon sandwich with hush puppies. The salmon was great, wish it had just a bit more seasoning on the actual fish, but that's probably because I like to have quite a bit of seasoning on my own food. However, their special sauce was fantastic, I wish I could bathe in it! The hush puppies were fantastic as well, had a great crisp and crunch on the outside and the inside had great flavor. I could've filled up on those by themself as a meal. The fish and chips were yummy, the perfect crunch with the breading and the inside was super moist and super tender. The potato salad was sweet but delicious. The crab cake sandwich was good as well. Hardly any complaints on the food, except that it wasn't enough hush puppies! It did come with about 6-7 on your plate, but again, with them and that special sauce it could've been a whole meal. The inside of the restaurant is small. They have indoor seating on the first and second floor (stairs only) and outdoor seating. I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant and was actually traveling from New York specifically to come here. I called ahead simply to ask whether it would be realistic to get a table around 6PM for 7 people and person told me that they're not taking reservations. The phone experience was honestly shocking. First, I was told that they couldn't hear me, even though there was clearly no issue with the connection, but I removed my headphones and continued to talk, i was on the road traveling from New York to Washington DC and couldn't simply call back in 10 minutes. I asked one very simple question: Is it realistic to get a table around 6PM without a reservation, or should we not bother coming? Instead of answering, before I even finished my question the employee hung up on me. I completely understand if a restaurant doesn't accept reservations or has a long wait. That is not the issue at all. The issue is the incredibly dismissive and rude way I was treated when I was genuinely trying to plan a visit..... I have honestly never left a review like this before, but after traveling specifically to visit this restaurant, I was so disappointed by the customer service that I decided not to come at all. There are plenty of restaurants where guests can be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place based on my experience. read more

Visiting DC for the weekend and stopped here for lunch when we were in Georgetown! Super happy we walked in since my friend had it on his list for a while. The seafood was all super fresh and the service was excellent as well. We sat on the second floor and they consistently would come over to fill our waters and even offered us candy after the meal. I definitely will be thinking about this place after the trip. Crab Cakes: So much crab inside! Probably some of my favorite crab cakes - loved that it was mostly crab and not dough. The sauce and coleslaw both paired well. We got hushpuppies as our side, which were delicious and tasted like mini corndogs but with corn inside instead of meat. Fish and Chips: Might be my favorite thing we had. Even better than the ones I've had in London. The fish was so crispy and thick on the outside yet so soft and fresh on the inside. I don't normally enjoy fish and chips either, but I really liked it here. Mayo Lobster Roll: A bit smaller than expected, but really delicious and paired well with the buttery bun! The lobster was So tender and the bun was perfect and not too much butter. The hush puppies they were a must try per Zay and she wasn't kidding! And for dessert we had Clam Chowder because it was piping hot so we had to wait till the end to eat it. Totally worth it. Creamy and delicious. Every bite was beyond yummy. I suspected that it was pre-battered, as the shape and texture of the filets resembled the frozen ones you would buy at a grocery store. This part of my meal left a lot to be desired. It was on par with what you would get as fish and chips from a low-tier chain restaurant. I asked one of the servers if they came pre-battered and she said she was pretty sure they did. At $25.99 for the fish and chips basket (which my son ordered,) fish should be battered in-house to justify that kind of price. Also, I was charged approximately a 5% "service fee." While the service was good, that's what a tip is for. The owners are cutting corners and nickel and diming their customers rather than just pricing menu items accordingly. read more

This seafood spot is tucked away just off the main Georgetown bustle. They offer a bunch of items, but given the proximity to Maryland, I went with the crab cake. This is a high-quality crab cake, for sure. There were pieces of meat almost as big as my thumb in there, and I have no idea how they managed to keep it all lumped together. The Old Bay seasoning amps up the flavor, and it comes with a nice serving of hot fries too. It is expensive, but it's worth it as a treat, I think. read more

The fish were fried to a crisp and cooked perfectly. Their hush puppies were the best I've ever had! It was moist and flavorful and pieces of corn. I only wish they gave us 10 more! Now for the warm lobster roll... I probably could have eaten three. The sandwich is the size of an average hotdog bun. The bread was slightly toasted with huge chunks of lobster meat piled on top of it. It was terrific. I ate it slow as I did not want it to end. Overall, this was a wonderful experience. I read many negative feedbacks prior to visiting but I'm really glad that I checked it out for myself. It is pricey... we ordered two things and a drink plus tip and paid $75. Lobster rolls are generally not cheap and I went to restaurants near the tourist spot and a roll cost more. With seafood the price point is always going to be high and I was prepared for that. We went on a Sunday late afternoon. It wasn't busy. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of places to sit inside even though there are two floors. Their restrooms are on the second floor. They have a patio outside by the sidewalk with a couple of tables. You order the food at the register and then they give you a number. When the food is ready they bring the food to your table. We ordered a crab cake combo and a lobster roll combo. I got the fries with coleslaw. Their lobster roll has three different kinds and can be served chill or warm. My boyfriend got the Maine lobster mayo roll. The crab cake was very good and flavorful. It has a lot of crab meat inside. They give you a lot of lobster meat for the lobster roll. Everything is delicious. The staff were friendly and nice. They came back to check on us if we needed anything and asked how's the food. When we left, the staff even gave us a lollipop. Coming from the Chicagoland area, our seafood is okay. Lobster rolls are either expensive with a shortage of meat or meat is on the drier side. I was pleased to find that seafood is popular in DC but you have to get away from the main touristy area to find it. This was located in Georgetown. Remember you can't take the subway here. You have to either drive, take an Uber, or take a bus. We took an Uber but I don't recommend driving there. Georgetown seafood is not a large place. You got some seating on the first floor, a couple places on the second, and al fresco. Just a note, on the second floor there is a small table and a large table for groups. Restrooms are also located on the second floor (2). We ordered a single jumbo lump crab cake (comes with French fries and coleslaw) and a Maine lobster mayo roll combo (ordered potato salad). The crab cake was perfectly cooked and moist. The crab meat was very prominent in the taste. French fries were well seasoned. Not too salty. The lobster roll you can choose either warm or chill. Size was adequate. I was shocked to see how much lobster meat was in there. Meat was fresh, moist, and warm. It's a gratifying treat for your taste buds. Prices were fair. Didn't love this place - First let me say it's tiny like 2-3 tables on bottom and when you walk in they like hound you with menu, Do you wanted? What do you want to order? Now normally so much service isn't a bad thing but it just felt little overwhelming. We got the seafood platter and maybe the fish was fresh but I just have had better fish. The shrimp was also over breaded didn't really taste like fresh shrimp. I did love the hush puppies. Cole slaw was just ok. This review is a year+ overdue. We were visiting DC this time last year and were making a stop in Georgetown for lunch and shopping. Great reviews brought us here and I am so glad they did. It's a bit of a tight squeeze inside with limited seating, but tbh it added to the experience. Nyiesha took our order and was so helpful with menu recommendations and just checking up on us while we ate. Super welcoming and attentive, it was the best service we'd experienced our whole trip. There's an upstairs with additional seating as well. My partner got the fried shrimp with fries. The shrimp was meaty and flavorful, with crispy breading that wasn't too heavy. I got the lobster roll and Nyiesha suggested the hush puppies with it. Lobster rolls are a favorite of mine and did not disappoint - warm, buttery and very filling - but the hush puppies were the highlight! Both our eyes went wide when we first tried them!
