In my experience a few weeks ago, there was a stall in which the toilet paper container with 2 empty rolls left inside it and this bloodied roll on the top of the toilet. Seems to be that management leaves the roll on top of the toilet to encourage users to clean their needles rather than locking it up in the containers. Truly unfortunate that management seems to enable this problem. Blood everywhere on the walls and doors, this is one picture but could have taken many more. AVOID at all costs.

If you are staying anywhere in or around Empire - make the Colorado Country General Store your…read moreplace to shop! The General Store, once the backbone and livelihood for western towns, might be ignored in today's modern society- especially if it is nestled within a small mountain town. ...and all too often, the costs of running such a small store appear in the pricing to customers. It wouldn't be unexpected, would it? Not so, the Colorado Country General Store! Their prices on food are shockingly inexpensive! Bread, Milk, Eggs... depending on where you are from these are at the prices or below what you are used to paying! True also for the surprisingly complete shelves of groceries. At first glance it didn't look like much, but we were surprised to find everything on our list! This store has more than groceries and household items - like the true general stores you will find various sundry items from batteries to decor pillows to snow sleds - all at reasonable or surprisingly inexpensive prices! Need a helmet for skiing or snowboarding? I was wishing I hadn't bought my helmet (which I purchased on sale) before arriving in Colorado - here at the Colorado Country General Store, a K2 brand helmet was normally priced at $20 LESS than the sale price I paid!! Other ski and boarding gear is also available at great prices. No mountain store would be complete without Colorado souvenirs, and yes you will find these here as well. Friendly proprietors and an awesome store - you wouldn't be wrong if you stopped here in Empire instead of Idaho Springs or Georgetown!

But I'm afraid that after what happened today this household is done with this Wal-Mart. I am a disabled 74 year old woman and my son does much of the shopping because of my health conditions. I live on SSI and I adhere to a strict budget so when my son checked out he ask the cashier to split the ticket between both debit cards. He told how much to put on the first card but she failed to put in the amount he ask for and the ENTIRE ticket went on my card! Which just destroyed my September budget. She apparently was very cavalier about it. THIS IS NOT FUNNY TO ANYONE WHO'S ON A TIGHT BUDGET. BUT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME! ITS AT LEAST THE THIRD OR FOURTH TIME ITS HAPPENED IN THIS STORE. There are no signs or other notification of this insane charge at the register or anywhere in the store. Had I known about this, I never would have purchased the earrings and fudge at this store. I see other Yelpers got scammed with this charge as well and I am going to look at disputing this charge with my credit card company as it is definitely a deceptive business practice.
