Why do bring your car to a transmission repair shop? Because obviously you know something is wrong with your car's transmission! I was recommended to go to an honest shop at Ed's Transmission (http://www.edstransmissionnorthgate.com/) on Northgate Way N. Seattle but he was booked out 3 weeks so I thought I'd try the next closest place... George's. If you want to pay someone $121.11 to tell you that your car has a transmission issue, then go to George's! I was lied to from the beginning, George said he was going to run a detailed diagnostic test specifically for transmissions and that would give him a detailed report of the problem... by way of the Diagnostic Codes. I thought that was fair enough so I dropped my truck off. When I returned to pick the truck up George tried to explain to me in foreign mechanic talk about the issues. This made ZERO scene to me because I'm not a transmission specialist, so I asked him to write it down on my (blank) receipt so I have a writing record of what he was trying to explain, HE REFUSED! He said I would have to come back tomorrow to speak with he co-worker Bill, and George tried to blame it on his broke English... no it's more like he was running out of lies... So, I left my truck there and came back the next day to pay for my test and retrieve my truck. When I arrived the next morning, George was in the office and said Bill could speak with me if I could wait 10-15 minutes; I said I can wait for Bill unless you want to write down the issues from the test and give me the Test Codes I paid for... George said, "I've already explained it to you, and I'm not writing it down"!! DENIED AGAIN, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE GEORGE!! So, Bill finally came into the office and basically would only verbally explain what he thought the issues might be but said he would have to take the entire transmission apart to find out the exact problem... That would only cost $3,000 - $3,500. George told me $3,800 the previous evening, so another LIE! Bill would not write down the codes on the receipt either but at least when I asked him multiple times he wrote down 4 words (PROBABLE BLOWN GEAR SET), oh and of course the cost to fix the transmission... which is not at all what George or Bill said the problem was at 1st. Once I denied to have George's fix my transmission, Bill was still pushing for my business and retrieved the Test Document (that cost $121.11 if you're wondering) and Bill said "actually the Test Results only show 1 code for the transmission and other codes for Sensors, so it could be an easy fix, but we won't know for sure unless I work on the truck". I smell BS! I posted a picture of the receipt showing NO EXPLANATION of the Test or codes I paid for. GEORGE & BILL post a picture of my receipt with the TEST CODES I PAID FOR! Chances are you won't because you're shady! read more

Jorge has worked on two of my Vehicles. He steered me away from solutions that would have cost me more money than would wise in the circumstance. Very pleased with the work. He does charge for a diagnostic. He then delivers an estimate that will effect a long-term solution. I assume that this is to weed out the cheap skate bargain hunters who will go for the cheapest price and get a very short-term solution. Why should he waste his time on diagnosing a problem for someone who will go with a cheapy fly by night. He's knowledgeable, and his recommendations are based on what he thinks makes sense, he doesn't upsell or add on anything if it won't benefit your overall goal for your vehicle. I have never written a bad review of a business, but I unfortunately feel compelled to do so for George's Transmission. Here are the facts: I suspected a transmission issue with my car and brought it in. George said he'd run a diagnostic and figure out the issue. After running the diagnostic, he said there was no issue he could find and he suggested changing the transmission fluid and seeing if that fixed it. In total, I paid $700 for the diagnostic, a transmission fluid change, and an oil change. The issue did not go away, so I brought it to a different car repair shop. That other shop diagnosed the issue as an electrical problem with the transmission and even gave me the diagnostic codes that came up, and told me that a transmission specialist was needed to fix it. Understandably, I was frustrated that George's, supposedly a transmission specialist, didn't catch this issue. I called George's and asked that they refund the $160 charge for transmission diagnostic. I was calm and firm, I'm not the kind of person to harass a business but $700 is too large of a bill to pay for an oil change, transmission fluid change, and useless diagnostic. His only suggestion was that I bring it back to him to get the transmission fixed and he could work out a deal, however at this point I don't trust this business to work on my car or charge a fair price. Again I asked for the $160 charge to be refunded and he refused. The worst part was that he tried to argue that the car had no issue when I brought it in and it only had an issue later. I don't appreciate being gaslit - I know when my car has an issue, why else would I bring it in to the shop? This whole incident demonstrates that George's doesn't care about treating customers right. There are many other transmission shops in Seattle, I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

These guys are fast and very very honest. First tranny they rebuilt was 900 dollars cheaper than the guys down the street. The tune ups are fast and done correctly the first time. The 2nd time on my other car I thought trany and coil packs were toast. How ever they found out the problem with the car was not the trany but was a bad length of coil wiring. These guys have saved so many People lots of MONEY by being so honest. And they only use quality replacement parts. Once again these Guys are the Greatest. Brought the car in for a check engine light and noise in the rear end. Got the call to come pick it up and the report that my rear diff was going out and all 4 cylinders were misfiring. Curious about the cause and wondering if they serviced differentials, I started asking questions. The response was come get your car followed by a swift hang up. I went in to get the car and again asked for some explanation as to what I might expect from the results of the test. I was handed a bill and shown the door. I've been going to george for about two years now. Even before management changed and he took over. George himself has always been my mechanic. The reason is simple, once you find a trusted mechanic who doesn't take advantage of you, you keep him. I always recommend him to anyone that needs even just an oil change. Had my transmission rebuilt by George, had an issue immediately after delivery of the rebuilt transmission, took it back, they claimed they couldn't feel it, took it back again, they claimed the cleaned out some valves and fixed the problem, took it back again to let them know it still was shifting hard, left it with them for a week two more times, until finally the transmission blew, took it back to George, for him to tell me the place was under new management and I would need to pay for a whole nother tranny rebuild. Then the conversation got heated enough to where he chased me out of his shop with a crow bar. Take your chances, but I now have to go to small claims to recover my loses!!! read more

My transmission had failed and they did a full replacement at a very reasonable cost- clearly communicated my options through the entire process and the end result has served me very well.
