I went today to get a battery for my Nikon Camera as we were leaving for Africa early the next day, and we live in Hawaii with no camera store. I met with Martin who went out of his way to help. They did not have any in stock but he went and found a used one. He gave it to me and said no charge. He was pretty confident it would. Ordered a camera with express shipping that they advertised as in stock. One week passes and I enquire about my order, they told me that I needed to prove that my transaction was legitimate as a security check - a "security check" on George's side mind you; not the bank (they did not contact me about this, I had to go to them to discover the status). Once that was done, another week passes so I inquire again, and they inform me that the camera is out of stock and is awaiting notice from their supplier. So at this point they've falsely advertised that the camera was in stock, which was the whole reason I decided to buy from them. They also do not honour you purchasing express shipping. I'm in the process of obtaining a refund from them. Be **extremely** careful before considering these guys. They falsely advertise that cameras are in stock, and don't update you about anything like security checks. read more

Do not be fooled by the cheap prices on the Georges Cameras website. You are charged a "handling fee" on top of shipping for online orders, which is not disclosed until payment, often cancelling out the savings you think you have made on your purchase. Items are falsely shown as in stock on the website, the items are not in stock and it will take George's several weeks to order them from the supplier before they can be shipped to you, if not longer. Items that are actually in stock still take a week to even be dispatched by Georges, they claim shipping times take 3-7 days but in reality it will be at least two full weeks before you receive your order (if you are lucky). Customer service is extremely slow to respond to support inquiries, if you then reply to their response you will not get another response and you will have to submit a new inquiry to continue the conversation about what is happening with your order. Customer service staff will also blatantly lie to you about the status of your order and when it will be shipped. In response to my first inquiry, I was told my items were in stock and would be shipped the next day, they weren't in stock, they weren't shipped, it took another three days and another inquiry before I was told the truth. To make things worse, if you inquire about the delay in the dispatch and shipping of your order, and customer service finally admit they do not have the items that you ordered in stock, customer service staff will then try to make you switch from the "in stock" item you have ordered that is not actually in stock, to a different, more expensive item and have you pay the difference. If you challenge staff on why an item that was shown as in stock on their website, then later confirmed in writing as in stock by customer service, is not actually in stock, they will just brush it off and say it was a "stock error" and deny any responsibility. By the time you place your order, inquire with customer service about its delay, wait for them to respond, go back and forth with them on the issue until they finally admit the truth, obtain a refund, then order the items you needed from another business, you are going to be waiting weeks if not months before you actually receive the items that you set out to purchase. If like me, you bought the items because you needed them for an upcoming trip, you are completely screwed. Essentially, Georges undertakes deceptive and unethical business practices in order to obtain a financial advantage over their competitors, (much the same as Digidirect) and they should be avoided at all costs. I'll never purchase another item from Georges Cameras and I recommend you spend your money elsewhere, at a reputable retailer. read more

Ordered a camera around 3-4 weeks ago (was so excited at the time), turns out it wasn't actually in stock and when I used the live chat option today (30 min wait) I was informed that the wait time could extend up to another 4-6 weeks due to the stockists being closed, but this was only an approximate. The one positive was that when I requested a refund in the chat this was handled very quickly by the representative (Conor). * NEGATIVES: 1. The live chat (which I used twice since my order was placed) can be up to 30 mins wait for someone to jump on. 2. The phone number for Georges' doesn't even connect when you call it (I tried about 10x on different days with no success). 3. Lack of transparency on the website about approx. wait times for shipping of the order or when it will next be in stock. * POSITIVES: Refund process was easy. read more

Did my due deligence to call, spoke w Adam since online help couldn't check stock at the time, to confirm if a particular lens was ready to ship from an Australia Day special advertisement. Adam did confirm, yes, and that I'd have it in my hands by the following week since free express shipping was included in the deal. The day that was supposed to have the lens in my hands came and no lens. I demanded online help to assist me in my enquiry and asked them to not ask me, the customer, to call elsewhere to find answers. Yeah comes to find out it was all a lie. Wish I had read the reviews before placing an order at this place. I needed a replacement DJI RC which I could have ordered directly from DJI itself, however it said the shipping would take 5 - 7 days via DHL from the US. Georges had it listed in Australia, so ordered through them instead. It has now been over 15 days and still hasn't shipped ! They won't respond to the current status of the order. Seems like their business model is to advertise products on their website without actually having the stock, take peoples money, then buy from the wholesaler and ship it to you weeks later. I was then offered a cheaper, less capable camera instead (with no mention of reimbursement) and was told "the specs are virtually identical" which was absolutely not the case. A week later after asking twice through email with no help and then having to call and demand it, I finally received a refund in full. Since I am an amateur photographer, he was really patient with all my questions and gave me different options/ suggestions, which i really appreciate. Went in the other day to buy a camera bag. Had the worst sales guy with an attitude which was remarkable. He must have read in business school instead of "how to wow customers", "games of thrones". He gave me one bag, and said thats all they have. When i pointed at the wall with all the other camera bags, he rolled his eyes and reluctantly showed me one more. When i told him my special requirements for my bag he mentally collapsed. Sure I could start a philosophical discussion now about why does he work in an environment where he has to deal with people and does his boss know he is ruining his business, but I just left after 2 minutes. Went to Ted's. The only advantage there was that you had access to the bags and did not need a sales person. Stopped by on vacation with a frozen, unresponsive go pro camera. The young man downstairs (I'm sorry we didn't get your name) was extremely helpful. He spent 1/2 an hour with us and figured out the problem and the solution (software update that was issued while we were on a plane). Item: BRX 500/500 Kit with strip box I needed more power, so the Elinchom for me has been the best value for money to upgrade, with some quirks. Customer Service: I am a Canberra Photographer who used to be based in Sydney so with clients in both cities I needed a portable set of strobes. I called up Georges on a Monday, organised a quote from them. Confirmed my order Tuesday and accepted the package. Gave them my Card details Wednesday, was shipped Thursday and arrived courier the very next day in 3 boxes. Everything was packaged neatly, and the service and communication was sound, fast, and very professional. I had only made 2 phone calls and they confirmed a few things with 2 of their own calls to me. In the end it was only 4-5 emails to get it completely sorted out as I was unable to visit in store. Value: First off, the value for money for the amount of power you buy is amazing. I still think that Elinchrom need to get their act together with their kit sets, as I still have mixed feelings about their Portalite softboxes they package with all their kits. I would still prefer an Umbrella set or the option to swap out the boxes for a "pro" set of umbrellas. Nothing to do with Georges as the kit is locked in, but almost all the other brands give options of umbrellas as most people buying kits are either new or starting out or upgrading from basic sets which means replacing old modifiers that have different mounts. Quality: The Lights themselves are top quality. You get the two lights, the protection caps, a single sync cord which is long enough, power cables for each, the skyport transmitter, manual, the two softboxes and a bag The Stands come in their own carry case. The Stands: The Stands that come with the lighting kit is a definite upgrade for me. They are Air cushioned and are ergonomic and it makes sense. They are large but not flimsy. The head of the stand that connects to the lights can be flipped and removed to accommodate on camera flash and small and thick threads. They offer no give or wobble when the BRX units are attached to the stands. The Portalite Softboxes: If there is only one thing I don't like, its the speedring of the portalite softboxes that comes with the kit. Its a plastic speedring and construction of the box is quite difficult at first. It is not an intuitive design and I believe Elinchrom intended its users to set up once and forget. The boxes do not fold up, in fact they have to be completely dismantled to pack away into the case. I intend to replace these with Rotalux octa boxes and and square boxes in the near future. In all honesty, the light you get from the boxes is beautiful and The only reason I want to replace them is so I can fold up the box for transport. Despite all this, Elinchrom has made a quality product that makes quality results. The Skyport: Cons first: The Skyport feels really flimsy and way too plastic. The Battery is a button battery CR2430 - I have now written that code everywhere in case I need a new battery for a shoot. I do not like button batteries and I think Elinchrom needs to address this. That being said, the pros: Its small and unassuming. The battery choice makes sense to make it small. The BRX units have skyports built in and so I don't have to connect anything to the sync ports. My skyport has group and channel choices. Which will requite a bit of set up with each light individually but once its set up, you can have an entire studio set up that is customised to your needs and you never have to visit each light. The skyport has the ability to increase and decrease the power settings of your lights too - but you have to check the power settings to ensure they are all correct. Verdicct:  While I may have reservations about the Portalite boxes, it still does not detract from the light quality this kit delivers. The end result is consistent, beautiful and strong. The overall power of the kit are: Lights: Fast recycle time, very short flash duration at full power. Stands: Strong and ergonomic Softboxes: High quality of light, very soft. read more

Amazing customer service! I walked in to ask a question about my drone hoping someone might be able to help me and everyone was willing to! The store was very busy but still ever employee was more than happy to answer every question I had and go through the steps I needed to figure out a technical problem that took about an hour and still these people had so much patience!
