I ordered a rifle-scope on the Easter weekend, went through their ordering system and paid by paypal. Their system accepted the order, paypal took the money and I exited the system with the final message being to expect an email with no issues raised. No email arrived but as it was the long weekend I assumed it was as the office was unattended.
On the Wednesday after Easter I had still not received an email so I called the store, gave them details of the order and was advised that mine must have been the NA NA NA order as they had an order for that particular item that came up with NA in all fields. I gave the gent my details and followed it up with an email just to be sure.
A week and a half later still no scope and no communications from DCC. I called the store and got Ray, the owner. "what is your order number?", "I don't have one". "You must have one, it is on your email", I didn't get an email" and told him what had occurred.
Basically I am a liar and I must have received one. I explained I had sent in my details as I had not received an email. I asked why it had taken a week and a half and still no scope or communications. He eventually found my email and then we had a lively conversation about how it is my fault it has not arrived as I had not provided details, even though it had been a week and a half since they had received my email and it was their system that had taken the order and not requested details or stopped the order for lack of details.
Rather than put down the entire conversation I will simply say he was rude, aggressive and condescending and had no desire to listen. His best offer was if I don't want it he can cancel the order - I would say this was an offer I should have taken. End result was a promise it would be with me by the end of next week.
End of next week still not here so I call again and once again got Ray. Although he didn't say it was already posted by saying it should be here today (Friday) or Monday the implication was it had already been posted. I asked for the tracking number and was advised he would call me back.
When he called back it had not been posted, but was being sent now. (Coincidentally I later received an SMS from AustPost advising of dispatch.) At this time I told him not to bother. It had now been two and a half weeks, two promises and I wasn't willing to wait any longer. OK, that will be a 25% restocking fee. Why says I, it hasn't been posted yet, you still have it and you have failed to meet all your promises. Once again it is my fault - Even though they had had the delivery address for a week and a half they had not realised it was to an AustPost Parcel Locker and their courier didn't deliver to them so they had to delay and post it (but apparently not until I found it necessary to call).
Around in circles regarding my failure to provide details (he had had them for a week and a half) and my inability to work their ordering system (I provided all requested details) and my unwillingless to co-operate (it was me who had initiated all communications).
End result is it arrived on the Monday, three weeks after ordering with no tax invoice. A month later still no tax invoice.
After advising them I was going to post detailed reviews on the web I was offered a $30.00 discount on my next order. I told Ray he could keep it as there was no way I would shop there again. I referred to my intention of doing reviews of DCC and the conversation degenerated to his willingness to post my order forms online to show my stupidity and threats of legal action from him.
Basically it's all my fault....................
The website is very good and allows good comparisons between models and features and is probably the best around. I would recommend using it to work out which product you want and then using the price as DCC are cheap to haggle with another supplier. There is no way that I would ever deal with them or recommend them. read more
