Oldest bar in Nevada!!!! Pretty cool little place. Old and dusty, if dive bars are your thing you have got to add this to your list. Friendly bartenders, pool table and lots of outdoor seating. They also have a food truck outside. There's a pellet stove inside and gas fire outs outside to help take the chill off while you sip a libation or two. The Bloody Marys are excellent. The beer is cold too!!

Older bar in the state?? It's a great stop. Genoa is a small little quaint town a bit out there f Carson city. I only discovered this place due to friends. Great bar. Lots of regulars and visitors alike. Went there twice both times had a hamburger type food truck outside. If you're in the area and are thirsty definitely give this place a go.

This is the oldest bar in the state of Nevada and a scenic and historic place to bring friends. Located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the small town of Genoa, this is a popular place to come on the weekends. Close by are Walley's Hot Springs and a cute little downtown area to explore. The drinks are poured heavy and there's bartenders hustle to sling drinks to all the thirsty patrons. They probably are tired of doing this over and over, but if you ask the bartender nicely, they will shine a flashlight into their historic diamond dust mirror which evidently came over by ship from Italy to the east coast in the 1800's and came across the country to Genoa by wagon train...! There were two mirrors originally, but one was sold to help fund the repairs to the bar after a fire. Great stop to make! You won't be disappointed!

Here for the candy dance and it was packed. Slightly unorganized inside we just patiently waited for. Drink was ok. Ambience was the best with a lot of history, the reason for visiting.

It is such a quaint place and has been around since the 1800's. It definitely adds to the charm of the whole town of Genoa. The staff were friendly enough. We only had drinks here as the food truck was closed the day we were there. Their drinks though are pretty good and unique.

The historic significance of Genoa Bar is quite interesting. It states it is the oldest thirst parlor in Nevada in the oldest settlement in Nevada! The ambiance is old western style with lots of cowboy paraphernalia and pictures all around. The service is fun and friendly. The drinks are interesting and fun. The Lavendar Lemon Fizz was new and refreshing on a hot summer day. The draft beer was reasonably priced and ice cold. There was a wedding at a venue nearby and many of the fancy dressed folks mosied on down to the Saloon on their dresses and fancy clothes and boots to experience the Genoa Bar, including a game of billiards. What a fun time!

Such a fun place to check out and grab a drink while in Genoa. It's got a historic feel to it for a local biker type bar that welcomes everyone from locals, tourists, bikers, celebrities, etc. they have a food truck out front but I think it's just open on weekends. Our bartender was great and friendly. She was putting out drinks quickly as things began to pick up. The bar has some cute trifolds that has history on the bar which includes Raquel Welch's bra that still hangs from the wall. The drink menu was delicious. I tried two of the cocktails and both were good. But I loved the Six Shooter. Make sure you stop in and grab a drink or two when you're in town.

What a sweet little bar! Drinks were great and well priced, staff were super friendly and the atmosphere is amazing! Fun decorations and such a cool old saloon feel. We came multiple times when visiting the area! They have a pool table too! Can't wait to come back

Big tourist stop. Some locals too. All friendly. Lots of history here. Easy motorcycle parking. I saw about 30 bikes and 4 cars. Full bar, Jameson to Patron they got it.(and so did I !!! ) I stopped in Sunday afternoon on Labor Day weekend on my way to Reno from South Lake Tahoe. I had a good time. The pool table was open so I had a few beers, a couple shots, beat a few people in pool, and headed on. Worth a stop. You could spend all day here just talking to the interesting types stopping in like me, just on our way. They don't sell cigars, helllloooo I crossed the border for a reason ! I'll give ya 5 stars anyway. read more

I have been here 3 or 4 times. It is a true dive bar with layers of dust on antiques everywhere. It has CHARM. Great jukebox, great bartenders, fun old photos, a very fun and comfortable place to have a beer. And you will be seeing history too! read more

We have been loyal customers for the past 8 years. The Genoa Bar is a true piece of local history. Its the oldest bar in the state of Nevada. It's definitely the favorite place for locals to hang out, relax and have a drink. The Genoa Bar is always the first choice for my family and friends whenever they are in town to visit. Being a locally owned family business you too will agree the entire staff is extremely friendly and courteous with a true passion for the business and their patrons. There is always something fun going on. The Genoa Bar often has a vast variety of live music events and or other fun events going on in Genoa like Sweet Sipping Sunday's, Candy Dance, Craft Fairs etc... It's a great place to ride your Harley too and relax with friends and meet new friends while having a drink inside or outside. Stop in and enjoy the surroundings of beautiful Genoa. From bikers to golfers and everyone in between the Genoa Bar is the place to go. The Genoa Bar is not just a bar, it's a piece of history and a destination must see for tourist to the area. A MUST STOP! - if you're around the area. I don't drink bloody mary, but Genoa Bar's bloody mary is AWESOMELY FLAVORFUL - not that V8 / overly tomatoefied where did the vodka go drink crap most restaurants/bars serve. Bartender's friendly! Flashed light on the 170y.o mirror to show us it has diamond dust in it! She even opened and let us walk down the storage basement to quench our curiosity! Great atmosphere! read more

What a great place! Just too many positives to write about this place here. The bar has this old charm that just can not be recreated. They even have a little informational paper you can take with you to read about all of the history. Plus...the prices can not be beat! We ordered a chivas, vodka, miller lite & shirley temple and the tab was $13! Unbelievable! You just have to visit! read more

The oldest bar in Nevada and the ambiance fits that description. The whole town deserves a drive through and the bar requires a drink. I tried the cinnamon whisky hot apple cider on a cool afternoon and can't wait to try and make it at home. Lots of movies made here and the walls make fascinating reading and history. My husband had the local tap Amber Ale and was pleased with it. Will find a way to travel back this way again (1/2 hour from South Lake Tahoe over a beautiful pass). read more

A must - stop in and enjoy the nostalgia of this historic landmark. Music and fun friendly people. The Town of Genoa is the first settlement in Nevada. Golfing, bike and walking trails, shopping, hot springs, nature and great Food. Perfect place for a romantic get-away. What a treasure. read more

Super cool place to see, horrible service. The bartender barely got off her phone to acknowledge us. We went because we thought it would be a cool place to visit, however we got Dana as a bartender. DANA IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! She only serves who she wants, and is very greedy. If you don't tip her for every drink, don't expect to get another drink! Completely down grades the place. Our group and at least one other group left very unsatisfied. Won't be coming back...sadly. read more

Loved this great lil peace of history! The bartender Lindsey was funny, personable, and a great bartender! Loved how the had pamphlets with the history of the building. It was such a cool time warp. Definitely our kind of place. Wish we lived closer to come back again. This is a great lil peace of history to visit! read more

The oldest thirst parlor in the state. This is a fun saloon with a lot of authentic old Nevada atmosphere. Service is extremely friendly and accommodating. A real part of the "Old West". The patrons are from everywhere looking for a good old fashion western good time. read more

It is always nice to visit this history-rich bar. The owners and staff are awesome. The live music is fun. The drinks....all delicious! There are wonderful other types of "spirits" in this establishment as well. I love it here and visit frequently. Those who feel it is a dive bar...well...it isn't to us who love history....and to be visiting a down-home comfortable bar. And, to be in a fun place. read more

It was ok. We went there for the history and a couple of drinks. There is no food service but that is understandable as it is a fairly small building. The band quit playing at 4:00pm which I thought was odd. Some of the people there were very snotty, but those were patrons, nothing to do with the saloon its self. Took quite a while to get a drink, but I think that was because they were really busy. All in all, it was a nice experience but an experience I think will not be repeated. I would highly recommend going there at least once to check it out. read more

Angela L. of Reno, Nevada, are you certain you were in The Genoa Bar? No one smokes inside there. As for how customers are dressed, when I was there last week a woman in a full mink coat came in. I hope that is classy enough for you. The only bra we saw belonged to and was donated by Rachel Welch. If you like history and find new cookie-cutter bars a turn off, have a picon and beer at The Genoa. read more

The oldest bar in Nevada! Great atmosphere and bartender was very friendly. My father in-law took us for a beer and let us check the place out. So much history and a great vibe. If you are even close to this place check it out. Not many can say you had a drink at the oldest saloon in Nevada. read more

We came to see the oldest thirst parlor in Nevada and were not disappointed! I've been asking my Man to bring me here for a couple of years, and we had the chance with my two best friends and sister in tow, a complete anomaly!! We accidentally crashed a wedding and when we offered to boot and scoot, we were welcomed like family by wedding party and staff alike. I've read a bad review about the owner, but I can't see it as true? He was a pretty classy dude in my limited meeting with him?? Great Band, Trippin' KingSnakes?? I think I'm in love. Can't wait until Feb when we can come back to see everything in the daylight, my favorite time in a old bar. read more

One of the coolest historical bars I've been to!! I absolutely love this place!! The waitress, Ginger, is super nice, and makes great drinks! The ambiance is super cool, even the years of layered dust add to it's character!! All the pictures and artifacts on the walls are awesome, if you're into history and coolness! The huge mirror behind the bar is older than the bar itself, man, the stories that mirror could tell... My fiancé and I will be back again next time we're in town! read more

We planned our stay around being near to the Genoa Bar. We happened to be here during the Nevada Days and the celebration at the bar was very special. We stopped by this dive bar on our recent trip to Tahoe to check out a local spot. The bartender (I didn't catch her name, but I wish I did) was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly and kind. We showed up dressed as Pitbull and his security so we definitely stood out, but she loved it and celebrated us and my sister. She made us feel welcomed and made it as fun of an experience as possible by trying to play a Pitbull song for us, but someone else skipped it. She gave us the last of the Jell-O shots which we greatly appreciated. She also invited us to return the next day to play Bingo at 3pm, but we couldn't make it. There's a music system (like a jukebox) where you can pay for songs you'd like to listen to. We paid for some songs that were more upbeat than the music that was playing when we arrived and it didn't seem to be well received by some of the other patrons. Others have the option to skip your songs (even though you pay for them). I personally had a blast and had great interactions with others in the bar, but others in my group had experiences that made them feel unwelcome by people in the bar so I deducted a couple stars from my review since it didn't seem to be inclusive. My sister was in the bathroom and overheard others saying negative things about our group so we called it a night shortly after that happened. I wish this place was a little more inclusive, but I would return just to visit with our bartender who was so welcoming to our group.

Now, if you want to give me a slice for free, I won't say "no", but we were charged $15. Why not just give me one slice and charge me $7.50? That is what I ordered, after all. We questioned the 2 slices and were told the owner had requested it be served this way. Serving 2 slices to charge double? Who does that? Ugh, I'll go for it once, but not twice. Just beware!

It is called so…read morebecause the original building that stood in its place was an actual ice house made for storing ice in the days before refrigeration. Years ago, this building was a gift shop adjacent to the previous La Ferme. The owners of Daniel's did a fabulous job rebuilding this structure, including repurposed stones from the original ice house building. I think a separate review is warranted as it stands on its own as a place to gather after a Genoa Town event, for drinks and light bites. We were recently here after Bingo night and following this year's lighting of the Hope's Tree across the street. The Ice House also has a nice patio for casual outdoor (weather permitting) get togethers. Gayle and I were also here during Candy Dance, for sausages and beer, and far away from the maddening crowd. The Ice House also hosts fairly regular wine tastings. And all this without a restaurant reservation next door. The inside is cozy with maybe room for a dozen folks. The bar is cool, the barkeeps know the community favorite adult beverages, and its just a sweet, casual, and relatively quiet spot to hang out. If you want a fine dining meal, make sure you have reservations at Daniel's. If you want loud, fun, and sometimes crowded, the Genoa Bar is just across the street. And 8 times out of 10, we'd rather be here at the Ice House.

I have to say that I have been to the Genoa Bar more than one time.. I find it to be the real McCoy.. Hello, it's 156 years old.. Lots of History, Good People, Great Drink Specials (Bloody Marys). And yes there is smoking aloud, and that's okay. I'm a nonsmoker but I still go.. No I don't care for the smell of smoke on my clothes, but I do have a washer & dryer. I can dress to the best or in my Biker Leathers and feel no different in either clothes when I go in there. I am treated as a Customer when I arrive and a Friend when I leave... The Bartenders there always tell me to have a nice day or evening and to Please Come Back.... There's No Other Place Like It..:) If John Wayne and Clint Eastwood are good enough to drink in there , then it's good enough for me.. :) read more

Came here after golfing with friends, a group of 6 men. The pussy whipped owner came over and told us to watch our language (full disclosure, we said fuck in a bar...out loud to our group at the end of the bar). This bar hasn't been cleaned in 78 years and has old school porn, bra's and panties on the walls for "decoration". We will never come back and I will make sure anyone who I can find an ear in the area will never visit this place again...there is a way to approach grown men and the way we were approached was not the way. If I/we were in a worse mood this could have gone way worse but since we are not assholes we prefer to punish financially vs physically...thank god this wasn't 5 years ago!!! read more

Had a great time here drinking and listening to the live band with some friends. Cool saloon with a lot of history and wonderful decors. It's the oldest thirst parlor in Nevada, I heard someone said. They served us very cold beers and very delicious BBQ and sauce. The atmosphere and service was great. The staff knows a lot about the place and I find the history of the place quite interesting. Waited a bit long for the food, but it's understandable since it was a little busy when we were there. I will make sure to visit when I'm in Tahoe again. read more

BEWARE! A bunch of my friends got roofied there last Friday night. We cannot prove who did it, but it happened at the bar. If I could prove it, there would be hell to pay. I will never step foot in that place again, and plan to file a report with the Douglas Co. Sheriff. STAY AWAY!!! read more
