It has been a while and things have changed from when we left 14yrs ago. I remember having the sushi rotate continuously and now only when you place your order. The food was fine, just the soup we had was bad and the meat seemed spoiled. Service was good. Ambiance ok.

Tried the take-out chicken karaage bento. The chicken karaage was good and the sushi rolls were good as well. The salad looked better in the picture. I enjoyed the asian-style dressing. Overall, not a bad deal for the price.

We have been anxiously awaiting the re-opening of this location and are so happy the doors are back open here in Kaneohe! Genki is always a go to spot for a quick lunch, and with the reopening and some specials, I was so very pleasantly surprised. There was a seasonal special which included an uni shiso temaki and uni nigiri which I was so surprised to see at a genki! The staff was all very attentive and the manager also came around to check on us throughout our meal. We even got to take home a set of 30th anniversary genki sushi chopsticks. The places was lively and filled with many families just like it has always been in the past.

Only half the restaurant seating was open and there was a wait for seating most likely due to staffing shortage. Everyone at the table can scan the QR code to order items for the table that are delivered on the conveyor belt. Bathrooms are located outside and the code is listed on the wall. Sushi and hot foods were fresh.

Natto nigiri. Like a strip of toothpaste.

The service was okay. Very young kids that were trying their best. No ice in the water, forgetting things...but I don't expect much from teenagers. They seemed to just be green, but pleasant. The problem is their very food quality and extremely undersized portions. Things sure have changed...shucks.

    Missing my corn??

No way to get ahold of the restaurant as ringer on the phone isn't working. The order of chicken karaage was ridiculous - one pc of chicken and smaller pcs that looks like they could probably make another pc of chicken. Then to to add salt to injury they failed to give me the corn Sushi I paid for ‍

Nice, looking corner restaurant, poor non existent customer service!

Having lived in Utah, upon visiting we would visit Genki, when the belt was working & the restaurant was busy, grandkids loved this place as picking out your food was easy, as the belt rotated. After a few years , decided to try Genki for lunch and was disappointed at the poor service. The one person on duty Kwena had no customer service & handed us a QR code & menu's with no explanation as we waited for some kind of response.Another person came on duty& was of no help either. Waited approximately 10 mins total & walked out and went to a eatery couple doors down. Never to go back again, Kaneohe has to many good restaurants to patronize! Never bothered to look @ their reviews, to my 96 year old mother a QR code is useless!

First I'm the restaurant. Bad idea. Seems like staff is still asleep... at noon...

I don't know why we keep coming here. Ebi fry came out cold. Teriyaki chicken was burnt beyond recognition and chicken wings were questionable. The Sunday crew needs to be retrained or fired. This will be the last time we come to the Kaneohe location. I'm tired of wasting my money.

The lunch specials are a good way to get nigiri at a reasonable price. We got the tuna special and the premium plate. It comes with miso soup and chawanmushi which were both delicious. The fish on each nigiri were super fresh and cut very thick. The sake selection was also very nice and we were able to enjoy a couple bottles :). You will spend money here, but it's 100% worth it. Sushi is my favorite so if I'm hungry, I could finish two salmon party plates. My husband splurged and got the premium nigiri set. He was nice enough to give me his uni nigiri and I inhaled that in .2 two seconds. We also got the kumbo tempura. We love that the place has a belt. You can also have minimal person free experience with it. Everything is done on the touchpad so you don't really have to talk to anyone if you don't have special requests. I assume this is how some places do it in Japan, which is very efficient. You do only get one wasabi container until you have to pay for More I believe. But you can tell the wasabi is good quality as well. For their traffic and wait-time, I believe the service is good. This place will get really busy during dinner, but it's not too bad when you get to walk around donki as you wait. You put your name on the list through the iPad and it will text you when they are ready for you. My overall experience is that it's simple and delicious, just the way I like my sushi

About a 20% increase in price. They have large portions and the service is pretty quick once you're inside. It is nice that this time they refilled our water. I got the hamachi, ahi, salmon, and unagi nigiri. Everything was pretty good, but the hamachi had some issues. Hamachi is my go to order in Hawaii, the mainland, Japan, and around the world. I've got to try expensive and cheap and everything in between. This hamachi was tangy and had the hard white membrane in it. Maybe just this specific cut/ batch just wasn't the best. Everything else was pretty good though. To their credit everyone in there is hustling, but it's when people are going fast that things like quality and service fall through the cracks. Like what happened to me last time, happened to an older gentleman next to me this time. He was waiting super long for an order that he put in a couple rounds earlier. Two servers came by and asked if he needed anything and he said just waiting on my order both times. After the second server went to the sushi chefs to put an on the fly order in he finally got his food, but by that time they had already finished eating their meal. We were also seated near the entrance so we got to see the towers of to-go orders that stack up on the counter. They have enough demand. I would highly recommend a second location so that quality and service doesn't decline.

Looking for sushi and comfort food? I still can't believe I hadn't tried Sushi Spot in Aiea sooner…read more This place was recommended to me by a co-worker and wow! It absolutely did not disappoint. Safe to say I'll be wondering why I waited so long! We ordered quite a variety and every dish brought something delicious to the table. The Red Spider (soft shell crab, crab meat, romaine lettuce, cucumber, avocado, and tobiko) was incredible. Every single bite was packed with flavor and texture. That crispy soft shell crab added the perfect crunch that made this roll hard to stop eating. The Black Spider (soft shell crab, crab meat, cream cheese, romaine lettuce, cucumber, and avocado) was an interesting twist from the Red Spider. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was equally delicious. The cream cheese gave it a richer, creamier bite that worked surprisingly well. Next up was the Chicken Katsu Curry. Japanese-style curry with veggies and crispy chicken katsu over rice. The chicken was beautifully crispy, exactly how katsu should be. Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired perfectly with the rich curry. The veggies were cooked just right too. Overall, a really satisfying dish. The Spicy Ahi Handroll was another winner. You really can't go wrong with this one. It was fresh, flavorful, and honestly disappeared within two bites. Yum! Then came the Pork Katsu Donburi with scrambled eggs, veggies over rice, drizzled with their amazing house sauce. Just like the chicken, the pork katsu was delicious. But can we talk about that sauce? Perfecto. I'm not sure what's in it, but it tied the entire dish together beautifully. And of course, dessert! The Fried Oreo with Ice Cream. It came with vanilla ice cream surrounded by deep-fried Oreo and drizzled with chocolate syrup. It was yuuuuummy! Hands down, I would order this again. Do not pass up this dessert. From sushi rolls to katsu dishes and ending on a sweet note, Sushi Spot completely exceeded expectations. Great flavors, satisfying portions, and multiple dishes I'd happily order again. Okay, I can live with that. It wasn't too crowded this time so it was just a short wait but my gf and the kids all split and went to the restroom and I kept seeing notifications that all parties must be present to be seated. I started to stress that we would lose our place but I guess there's a few minutes leeway and they came back from the restroom right when I got the table ready notification. Anyway, who designed their damn seats? They should be forced to sit in them for a few hours and see how the back of their thighs feel with that big lip on the front edge of the seat, unless you have natural extra padding on your backside which I do not, these seats are very uncomfortable! This had to be the worst part of the visit. Probably on purpose so customers don't stay too long. Well, we sit down and there's only one menu to look at and the three girls are sitting across from us are looking at it and taking forever to decide what they want. In the meantime, I have to use my phone to scan another QR code to connect to the website where you order your food. I give my phone to my gf since she's sitting closer to the scan code and she has trouble getting into the site. I take my phone back and have to stretch across her and I get the ordering form up & give my phone back to her as she's asking the kids what they want. Then she starts asking me what I want before I even have a chance to look at the menu the kids are hogging. Screw it, I can see the pictures upside down and I'm not that hungry to begin with so I say I want natto and get the usual eww, gross from my gf. I'll have an unagi too. More eww! Yeah, I'm enjoying this outing so much! They should put at least two menus at eat table. The kids are still picking what they want so she places an initial order. Gotta admit the food comes fast on their little train delivery system. Some portions are very small, the maguro and other sushi have shrunk over the years as is the case with many dishes in most restaurants anymore. Some are a decent size such as the tempura and edamame. The food appears well prepared and tastes fine. Service was okay, but it is a self serve kind of place for the most part anyway. The wait help did make sure our drinks were good and they were quick to bring the tab when we were done. Fast food sushi so there was no dilly dallying there. All in all, I was not thrilled and would not pick Genki as my first choice of eating places in Pearl Ridge, not because of the food itself but just because of the hassle and uncomfortable seats.
