Came here on Veterans Day. I have not been to Genghis Grill since I left the Carolina's in '06. I will have to say my experience before was much greater. The food overall was good, our waitress was lousy and the lobby is rather filthy. I generally do not like leaving bad reviews, but in this case the manager here really needs to pick things up. My spouses meal arrived after my son and I were half way done with our meal. This is odd cause our food was being prepared before my sons. I was offered soy sauce which arrived minutes after I was done eating. My son ordered a coke and received water. The waitress apologized and stated they were understaffed. Maybe so. But all the errors were hers. It's not like the restaurant was jampacked with guests. The floor in the restaurant is sticky from one end to the other. The glass next to my table has kids hands prints from who knows how long ago. And the men's room was very dirty. Boy... kind of disappointing. But like I said, the food tasted fine. Hard to get service in here. Folks and manager don't seem to care much about customer service. I understand if your short staffed and worker shortages might be an issue, but customer service doesn't have to be a chore. A friendly acknowledgment and smile can go along way today. Or maybe the theme of this establishment is supposed to be rude, unwelcoming and dirty.. ‍ It's my second time here and the first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a bad day and came back. We were brought here by family, but didn't stay and didn't actually get to order anything. Walked in and place smelled like something between an ER room and a city meat market. Just gross. The servers were pleasant, but we just got a weird vibe all around. They lost their liquor license, so you couldn't even order a beer and the server was kind of dodgy when I asked about it. I've only been here twice but I've had nothing but good experiences both times! I love that you have complete control over every meat, fruit, veggie, spice, and sauce that goes into your bowl. This was our first time going to Genghis Grill and it was horrible. The place was deserted, which was the first red flag. The waiter showed us to our table and handed us menus. We tried to start a conversation with him and told him this was our first visit. We thought he would offer some insights on food, ordering process, No, we had to drag information out and could barely understand him because he looked down most of the time and mumbled. Second red flag. After being misinformed on how to order or select our food from the bar we finally received our food. My granddaughters picked food from the bar and received mostly noodles - barely any toppings in sight. The food my daughter and I ordered was so burnt the rice was inedible in my teriyaki chicken bowl and the chicken was dry and tasteless. My daughter ordered the Drunken noodle bowl and it was also burnt, with only about 5 or 6 noodles! The small bowls we received were only about 1/4 full, not like the pictures posted with rice and noodles with great looking toppings. Not worth the price! We told the waiter that our food was inedible and the "manager" said he would take 20% off our $86 ticket! I advised the "manager" I would not be paying for the inedible food we received, that I would pay for the remainder of the meals, 2 small bowls for my granddaughters - which was mainly over cooked noodles, which they did not finish, egg rolls, pot stickers and drinks. The manager finally took the 2 meals off and was not personable at ALL! Did not apologize! While we were there someone's to go order sat on the counter uncovered for a good while. We asked what size that was and the girl behind the counter replied that it was a small - which was 4 times the food we had received for our meal. I hope the person that ordered that pick up had a much better experience with their food that had been sitting on the counter uncovered. This was our first and last trip to Genghis Grill. We had heard good things and wanted to try it out since we were in Murfreesboro. Sadly we left and ate elsewhere! read more

Tonight we simultaneously showed up while several other people showed up and we were all standing in the front for the hostess to even show up, mean while several of the other employees/servers walked past without saying a word. Ok so here's the story. Didn't even bother going down the line to build my bowl. I'm not sure whoever runs this restaurant has ever been to a. Mongolian grill. You choose between s/m/L bowl sizes. You choose your "base" (rice, noodles, etc...) and then they bring your bowl. I ordered "medium", the menu recommended it if you were hungry. When the bowl came to my table I laughed. It would literally have been the same as my two hands cupped together! That's it! And the small my girlfriend ordered? Lol, wow. Take the cap off a spray paint can and that's your small. $15 for the medium. We politely told the waiter we would go elsewhere. Would have been the most unfulfilling $40 dinner of my life. Maybe it tastes great? They just need to visit a Mongolian grill to see how they work. read more

My husband recently ate at the Genghis in Franklin and loved it!! We came to the Murfreesboro location tonight, and I cannot recommend. They had signs on the table marketing $5 summer margaritas, but was told when I tried to order one that "they aren't able to serve alcohol at the moment because their ABC license had expired". Then, I ordered a hummus plate appetizer, and they were out of hummus. Finally, as I was making my bowl, I was informed they were out of fried rice too! I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this restaurant. It's a mongolian grill, where you put together a completely customized meal by choosing from an assortment of meats/seasonings, veggies, sauce and type of starch. There are vegan offerings, veggies in combos, and even recommendations for various popular combos if you are a first timer or unsure of what you might like. There is a full bar that makes hip drinks, including sake mixed drinks that I might try on a future visit. Genghis is located next to Which Wich, but two stores over, the major store that you can see from the road is Barnes and Nobles. I'm glad that the new hospital development and gateway area is built. My hostess is so sweet, she even remembered me coming in from a while ago. I don't come to Genghis often, but it was nice to be remembered. Typically when I come in, it's always busy, so it was nice coming in on a rainy day when there weren't too many people out. Wow. Over an hour wait for our bowls. We haven't been here in several years and went back to satisfy a craving. Man, we picked the wrong day. It was slammed. While we were seated rather quickly, our server didn't greet us for about 15-20 minutes... that should've been a sign. I work retail and understand the difficulties of an unexpected rush but it would've been nice to know they were THAT far behind. We didn't have any big plans so we stuck around and finally made it up to the line to build our bowls. Several ingredients they've had in the past were ether out of stock or no longer available... what a shame. There wasn't much of a line so we got our builds and n to the cook quick but there must've been 20-30 bowls in front of us waiting to be cooked... so we waited... and waited... and waited. After about 45 minutes the bowls made it to our table. They were good but not worth an hour wait. It was Friday of tax-free weekend before school started so maybe they didn't anticipate such a large crowd. The manager said as much when he visited our table so I hope they prepare better next year. I'll probably give them the benefit of the doubt and return even though previous visits have also involved pretty lengthy waits with much smaller crowds... maybe a second cook table would help. I try to be understanding but too many things added up on this visit to force me to give a poor review. Poor service, extremely long wait, lack of ingredients... can't give a positive rating with that perfect storm. read more
