After touring several skilled nursing rehabilitation centers, I chose Simi Valley Care Center. I was very apprehensive at first, not being through this sort of situation before. He has now been there for three weeks and I (we) are so pleased with the care and facility, I wanted to write this review to help others. Our experience here has been wonderful. The CNAs, nurses, all the therapists, housekeeping, etc. are caring, passionate about what they do and definitely knowledgeable. It was imperative, in our situation, that therapies (physical, speech and occupational) start immediately - and they did!! The therapists are fantastic, showed up every day - even on Sundays - and were always pushing for improvement! There is a beauty salon at the facility, open once a week, a patio to sit in the sunshine, activities, and games and, I was able to bring my lab to visit! Once a month there is a dinner with live entertainment for the patients and their family and friends, put together by the staff with love and attention to every patient's dietary needs. It takes a special person to work at a facility like this, caring for others with compassion and respect. There are always going to be complaints, as our loved ones are very special to us and leaving them under the care of strangers is scary. In my (our) experience, Simi Valley Care Center is peace of mind. Of course, nothing substitutes daily visits by family members :) I hope my review will help others when and if it ever becomes necessary to make such an important decision.

My loved one had 3 items stolen from them while they were staying there. The food is worse than prison food too. Their budget a day per person for food is $7. So you can think of what they serve each person for $7. The place is always hot and they have floor fans blowing on the elderly here when it's 100 degrees outside and VERY LOUD. No one can ever get any rest around there and all the 'care takers' are constantly talking in another language and standing around gossiping. We had no choice but to send our loved one here because it's all their insurance could cover. I'm honestly surprised they didn't die there. But we did end up moving them to go elsewhere which was like pulling teeth to do so. This place shouldn't even be in business and be prepared to NEVER find parking because everyone who works there parks in every spot that's available.

My son went unwillingly at first, but the group interactions with Jesse and John leading the sessions, were exactly what we needed. They use respect, tough love, talk in a way teens can relate, tell the truth, and make sure the parents are involved in the process. They taught us how to communicate (and really listen) as parents & son. After a few tough weeks, my son looked forward to group sessions. He trusted his counselors and so did I. Therapy is never easy & clean. It's hard work. What matters is the end result. Aspire counselors truly care about people. I can't say enough good things about our experience and the bond we made with the counselors. My son is absolutely thriving, out of his dark place and we're all hopeful and excited about the future. It's been 3 years since we went to Aspire and we all talk openly and fondly about that timeframe. My son is even considering a career in counseling because of Jesse and John and the other impactful counselors who helped us. If you need help, Aspire is a definite, viable solution. Don't hesitate to call them and find out more. It's a scary process, but not as scary as doing nothing. Hope this helps your decision. We'll always be grateful to Aspire!

What a complete waste of money and time going to these people!!!!!…read moreAll they cared about was charging my insurance company while the counseling that they offered was like paying for a babysitter to listen to your problems then they just tell you to listen to YouTube videos as help instead of actually helping you. I would warn everyone to stay away from this place what a waste of time and they overcharge on the insurance, $500 per group session And and make you pay an additional $10 for a co-pay when they're already getting a ton of money from the insurance company already.. absolutely ridiculous I wish I never got introduced to this place. They did nothing for me, but collect money from the insurance and left me struggling with my mental health on my own telling me to go watch a YouTube video. Never go to these people ever

From the…read moremoment I (nervously) walked in, I could tell that the staff genuinely cared about what I was going thru and wanted me to get well. They made me instantly feel welcomed and comfortable, and throughout my stay I grew even more appreciative for the compassion and skill level of the staff. Their approach is very holistic and expands far beyond just the 12 steps. We learned meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, acupuncture, among many other things. The therapists are the best I've ever spoken with. I had 2 assigned to me including a trauma therapist who helped me work through issues I had never really spoken about with anyone before, helping connect my childhood trauma with my substance abuse issues, and giving me the tools to deal with it. The house is very spacious and comfortable with a giant pool and hot tub, and we had time to relax and match movies and hang out. I laughed a lot with the other clients and had more fun than I ever would have imagined in rehab and made new friends that I've continued to stay friends with after leaving. Beyond just getting clean, the Villa gave me the breakthroughs and tools I needed to stay sober and taught me how to enjoy life, laugh, and have fun without needing alcohol and for that I'm forever grateful. I checked out of the Villa a completely different person, ready to take on the world. Don't think twice about going here if you're in need of help!

The Villa is THE place to go. I have people from all walks of life, from friends, family, friends of friends, come to me and ask where their loved one should go and The Villa is the ONLY place I can say with 100% confidence in recommending. The Villa's staff have all of the, and the best of the credentials and the owners couldn't be nicer, more involved, and were easy and available to talk to throughout the entire experience. Even after your stay is completed. They ACTUALLY CARE. Every other place that I know or have worked with has some sort of monetary incentive, but the Villa is only recovery center in the COUNTY that genuinely wants to help people get sober and have amazing futures. From the moment you pick up the phone, you are part of the family...even when you graduate. I would say 95% of the programs in LA and maybe even the entire state of California are at least somewhat corrupt and only looking to make money. It's shocking what happens in this industry, especially when it's supposed to be saving lives. I can HONESTLY and PROUDLY say that the Villa is in the other 5% and I couldn't be more honored that I went there and I am so happy, relieved, and reassured that I have a place I can recommend to my loved ones. I am excited for the future of this disease because the Villa exists and that I can recommend it in full confidence. They save lives and are family for life. Please feel free to leave me a message and I would be happy to call and answer any questions. Thank you, with everything that I have. The Villa, you are my family for life. Love, Kate

It felt like they were genuinely happy that I was there and wanted to help me. I really liked that it's a smaller facility, so you get plenty of individual attention and you always get a chance to feel heard. Aside from the staff and community, the facility was nice and comfortable. I had my own room for half my stay and had one roommate the other half. They lured me out to California, from Maryland. Told me they would cover my travel BOTH ways. Come to find out, about 24 hours into the program .. if you want to go home on their dime, you must complete the program. I was told I would have my own room. I did not. They ripped me off of a sleep med that I had been on for 15 years... never once abusing, and they threw me into a room with a stranger. Im AUDADHD, I have severe mental illness. Some linked to trauma over things that happened to me in my sleep. *speaking of, they took me off stimulates. They are a controlled substance, dont ya know. Doesn't matter that I have been on them since I was 6 years old. No taper. Hard withdrawal. I went to the emergency room bc of it. So there I am, stuck in California... no promise of a good night's rest. I have several chronic illnesses. They completely ignored the fact that getting enough sleep is the only way I can function and learn. You have to go to 6-8 hours of class 5 days a week . Again, chronically ill. I have not maintained a 35 hour work week in over 10 years. No accommodations were made for me. Despite going all the way to Debbie (manager of program). I suffered through the program, came home..... absolutely zero follow-up. Absolutely zero direction as to what comes next. Im sure this program works for some. But if you have mental illness or other chronic illness... Search elsewhere I ended up going to the psych ward to get my meds straightened back out. Oh and I still dont drink alcohol. Which is why I was there. But I do not give that credit to AIS. Thats all me.
