As a firm believer that just as most film makers don't set out to make a bad movie, most business owners don't plan to have their organization be less than the best it can be. Unfortunately, after two previous good experiences with Athletic PT, this most recent time isn't going well, and I'm going to be making a change. After Covid, this particular location gave up about half of its previous space, making what remains feel small; even claustrophobic. I don't care for all the patients being almost on top of each other in the back treatment room. Going through physical therapy feels like it should be a private experience, or at least semi-private. At this stage of my life, I don't enjoy being cheek and jowl with other patients. They have also cut the amount of time spent with each patient, which surprised me, and not in a good way. There's also a lot of noise happening - the music is loud, and the therapists and their assistants are making chit-chat talk with each other. It wasn't relaxing to be in that environment. This makes me sound like a crotchety old lady, but I think that a Zen-like environment might be more healing than a Gold's Gym (not to pick on them, per se) kind of work-out shop. When I walked out of the first hands-on appointment I told Dear Hubby that it didn't go very well, and in fact was causing pain in my lower back that I hadn't had when I went in to work on my knee. I spoke with several friends who've been through PT to rehab from surgeries and they urged me to move on if I'm not feeling comfortable. I expect that Athletic PT does good things for many others, but in it's current incarnation, and my current physical state, it's not a good fit for me. read more

This place is a joke. My first appointment with dr Sean was as I expected. No complaints. My 2nd appointment was with a male assistant who told me what exercise to do and then walked away but then checked on me a couple times. My last visit was completely unprofessional. I worked with a female assistant. She looked at a piece of paper, told me how many of an exercise to do and then attempted to walk away with no oversight. I had to ask for an explanation of the exercise and once I started she walked away and was having a great time talking and laughing with the other staff without ever coming back until I told her I was done. Isn't the purpose of paying for PT so that there is supervised recovery? I have cancelled the rest of my appointments and will not be going back. read more

Totally false They are the worst. Pt therapist were more concerned about their internet. Experience was weak. No heat. Not ice. No muscle stimulation. Just 20 minutes of soft massage and then 20 minutes of unsupervised stretching Will never return. read more

I just wanted to share my experience. Jackie K. has been my physical therapist for the last few weeks. I'm seeing her for lower back pain and arm pain as well. I'm 65 years of age and I have seen physical therapist since I was 7 years old for various reasons. These physical therapist were from Children's Hospital in Los Angeles and UCLA. All of them were top notch excellent therapist. But Jackie, of APT, is the very best I have ever worked with. I say that because after every session, I feel so much better that all my pain is gone. My doctor recommended this place for treatment to help me with some nerve pain. I was new to this facility and was highly disappointed. The first session was a waste of time: having me do excessive strength tests that caused me pain. The 2nd appointment they had me jump straight into exercises with no electric stim pads, no heat, no ice. The "massage" felt like they barely touched me and I felt like they were lightly tapping me. I left feeling more miserable and in more pain than I did when I arrived. It was a terrible experience. I've never been to a PT location where they literally do not care to help patients recover and treat one as if they are a strict and overbearing personal trainer at a gym. I immediately left and will not be returning again. Don't waste your time and money. If you are looking for empathy when it comes to being eased into exercises and recovery, you will not find it here! read more

Great experience as a first timer in 2022. Dr. Sean Wronka is the best! I especially loved how Dr. Wronka took his time to explain the therapy treatment plan and recovery prognosis for my left knee replacement. It was easy to make the consultation appointment and they send you the forms so you can complete ahead of time, if you want, and subsequent appointments were also easily booked. You're seen on-time, every time. Dr Wronka's demeanor put me at ease, very professional and kind hearted. It's 2024 and back for physical therapy with Dr. Wronka for my right knee replacement. I was happy to know that he's still here and that he'd be the physical therapist assigned to me. He's a wealth of knowledge and builds rapport with you. Succumbing to physical therapy was hard for me, it meant I had to change my workouts and quit some all together, but it has been the best choice I made, to work towards overcoming my injury. Dr. Sean Wronka is amazing, aside from the deep tissue massages, he has given me exercises to help strengthen the areas around my injury as well as the injured area itself. He has also helped me understand which exercises I should refrain from as well as modify when needed. I usually go to the office in Westlake but they are short staffed. This office is quite a distance but worth the drive. I had severe sciatic pain. Dr Sean is far and above the best therapist I have ever seen. He is caring and compassionate with tremendous skill. He balances massage with exercise and every appointment is different. The results are amazing and I'm just about pain free. What's so special is he really wants to challenge me to get stronger and fit. The receptionist is so friendly and helpful. Athletic physical therapy is a great place to go for therapy I've been to two locations, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley. Everyone is friendly and do there jobs well. I'm evaluated each time I've gone and continue to improve. My wife and I have been to other physical therapy places in Simi before they were a big waste of time. They were more like go in and do your own thing after the initial evaluation but nothing like that at athletic physical therapy. read more

After some research I went to Athletic PT ahead of my knee replacement surgery to better understand the recovery process and get a sense of the establishment. After over a month of continuous rehab sessions I wanted to share my experiences. Physical therapy businesses are really only as good as their therapists, and Athletic has some of the best I've experienced -- at all levels. One in particular is worth a shout out, a therapist named Fredy. Fredy has an innate ability to understand body mechanics. He "sees" things other PT's don't. He has a sincere desire to see people improve and that spirit has been a determining factor in my recovery. Knee replacement recovery is tough but I look forward to time with Fredy because it means that my spirit and body will improve. read more

I had 2 referrals to this office in Simi from Regal Medical Group. . One in June. One in August of 2023. I've yet to be called back and have a scheduled appointment. The interesting part of the message is that they are trying to get you back on the field ASAP!! Not sure how that happens when u don't call anybody back after leaving multiple messages , text chats and emails. I had such a good experience with Dr. Sean Wronka. I went into Athletic Physical Therapy with a torn ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus, trying to recover after the surgery and some failed experiences at other physical therapies. Sean gave me challenging work outs every session and helped me get back to full strength over the span of 6 months. He worked on my knee every time I saw him, massaging it and using the scraper, which was very painful but he insisted it would be helpful- and it was. He was very attentive and personable and we always had conversations that made me laugh which I will miss! I liked everybody at Athletic but I'm very grateful that I got to work with Sean as my physical therapist. I hope I won't have to be back in PT again.. but if I happen to need to return it'll definitely be back at this facility to work with Sean read more

Athletic Physical Therapy came highly recommended by my surgeon for post operation therapy and they did not disappoint. Dr. Sean Wronka and assisting staff helped facilitate excellent range of motion and are the reason I'm walking well just a few short weeks after being cleared for weight bearing activities. Aside from the quality staff, the facility is clean and has all imaginable equipment to aid in any recovery process. Additionally, Aubrey was exceptionally flexible with the scheduling and always did her best to accommodate my needs. I would give Athletic Physical Therapy a 10/5 if I could. Keep in mind my situation was based on a lot of factors and my recovery time may not be identical to another based on severity of injury or other factors. I had shoulder surgery back in January for a partial rotator cuff tear and frozen shoulder. Needless to say, I had very little movement. Over the last six months (66 sessions), I am please to say, I am about 95%. That is all to the great folks at Athletic PT. Dr. Andrew is the best, he's very thorough, compassionate and really pushes you. Leanne was amazing as well. The aids do a great job too. Shout out to Andre & Kasey. Aubrey has a wonderful sense of humor, and gets everything scheduled, and is really on top of everything. All in all... I sustained a recent injury to my shoulder and was told by my orthopedic doctor to have a course of physical therapy. Never having had PT before I did not know what to expect. However I was very pleasantly surprised to find Dr. Sean Wronka at Athletic Physical Therapy in Simi Valley. He is extremely professional and courteous and has helped me gain mobility and strength in just about 6 weeks of rehabilitation. I am not a young person so it takes longer for me to heal but he (as well as Anrae who also worked on my rehab) were very patient and put me right at ease. A big thank you to everyone on staff. Marc and Sarah do a great job of rehabilitating your injuries and getting you back to living life. I've been a frequent patient from lower back issues (herniated discs) to breaking my ankle and learning how to walk again. Each time I've always been taken well care of with Marc doing a great job of diagnosing the issue and figuring out a plan to get me going again. I've always believed that with certain issues you have to work to get better and no one can just fix you in quick second, so that's where PT comes into play. They help you develop a way to be able to sustain your lifestyle. I was told by one doctor that I could no longer do any more physical sports, but I could not take that. This review will point out the (OWNER / DIRECTOR) DR .STEPHEN C. & (appointment setter)AUBREY and (TRAINER) BRAIN bad service ...Be careful when you using this place all they care about is there Time and schedule there is no compassion in to what is going in there patient lives. I had 2 family emergencies come up last week one One including a surprise family law court appearance . So i was forced to miss my appts last week that's my fault no one else I get that. But the fact that AUBREY called me and confirmed my 2 appt for next Tuesday and Thursday 8am after I already missed this days. I said we are good to go I was exited to get back to PT had the day marked in calendar and was ready to till AUBREY called back back Monday the day before my appointment and told me we decided to take you off our calendar because that is a popular spot time I told her no I am looking forward this I will not be missing this appt plus you already confirmed it with me she said they already took me off and gave Someone else my spots for the week I was at a loss of words but kept my respect I asked to have the owner Steve call me she said I only can email him. I emailed him to tell him what happen. I feel like he gave me a very lazy response. (Steve) never once said sorry For the inconvenience and just basically blamed me for this happening and supported what they did I told him I will not be returning to there facility and will be voicing my opinion to yelp he didn't seemed not to care as he urged me to review saying good luck! as for (BRAIN) the only reason I scheduled with him is because he has morning slots but I didn't feel like he was much help at all even in the beginning he has very gentle soft baby hands just really never pushed me... the only one who got anything done for me is Mellisa and Meghan.... oh yeah mentioning Meghan reminds me of another time I was clearly was on schedule to be seen by Melissa but some reason I spent ALL time that day with Meghan ... Meghan did do a good job that day so I didn't have a problem with it but now realizing someone did not do their job properly and double booked Mellisa so I had to pay for it .... anyways this is my experience with athletic physical therapy good luck for anyone who chooses to use them read more
