Needed a car for my son and the owner found us exactly what I was looking for. I was able to get the right car for a VERY good price. They also got me a heck of a deal on a set of 20" tires for my other son. This is where I will be taking my cars to get fixed. Had no idea these guys were near my house. Awesome! P.S. I purchased a motor for $1600 from Genesis that was advertised as "in working order". I had a mechanic do an engine swap. Immediately after the swap, the most obvious issue was low oil pressure. I sent Genesis a video of the issue, asking for help with what they thought may be the issue. I paid a shop to replace the oil pressure sensor, that didnt fix the issue. Genesis sent me an oil pump and DOD lifters, I replaced with no change. Throughout I kept in touch with Genesis as to the results. I asked Genesis if i pulled the motor and shipped it back to them (on my dime, again) if they would give me a refund, as the motor had a 6 month warranty period. They received the motor at 6 months and 2 days. I was told at that time, that their finance dept would not be refunding me. And I would need to pay again to have the motor shipped back to me in MN. Another $200. So at that point I've paid over $600 in extra shipping and service. I received the motor back and took it to an LS specialist shop that comes highly regarded. I asked that they look into the oil pressure issue. After lengthy inspection, the likely cause is failure of cam, crankshaft, or rod bearings. So that another $250, so now I'm over $800 invested beyond the cost, if the motor was healthy. That does not include any of my time or investments. I pulled the motor out in an unheated garage in MN in the winter. I recently spoke with Genesis, over a year after my original purchase. We conferenced in a friend of Genesis that also said that the issue was mostly likely consistent with internal issues that would require a rebuild. After the conversation, I asked what do we do from here. Genesis again said that they werent interested in refunding any money, due to the warranty period. After pleading with them to offer a solution I told Genesis that I didn't trust them and was told that if that is how I felt, then the conversation is over. And they hung up on me. Due to Genesis implimenting an "ignore and it will go away" strategy, I am left no choice but to air my grievance here. read more

If someone tells you to pull your incomplete engine and return it for exchange, that should be the end of it right? After you get it out, of course. It's not with these people. In fact, by the time it's done it will be your fault and they won't even let you eat the restocking fee to be done with it. Nope you're stuck, but hey, here's your parts. Sorry about all the time wasted. Oh wait, we're not really sorry at all, and you are just being difficult and can't comprehend that your engine is perfect except for the missing parts. (It's not.) Do yourself a favor and throw a bunch of money out the window, and then buy your engine/transmission from the shadiest junkyard you can find instead. You will still be better off, and that's probably what they do anyway. read more

Do not trust Genesis custom works for any type of work to do on your vehicle. he will give you a bed and then will not answer any type of messages after you drop off the vehicle. I asked him how long it would be to put a transmission in a Suburban for my sister-in-law who has a three-year-old daughter and she needs the truck for her daughter. He told me it would be 4 days to get it repaired and gave me a repair estimate. I dropped the vehicle off this past Monday after trying to contact him all day long desperate to have someplace to fix the vehicle. After trying to contact the owner, charles, all week, I did not get any type of response. he did send me a note telling me that he needed me to sign an authorization to work on the vehicle but when I offered to drive to his place of work to sign it, his reply was I am not there. I never was able to sign the note and try checking in with him all week long in order to get it signed and get the work done. Finally, on Friday, I got in contact with Charles and told him I needed the vehicle so I could take it to somebody who would actually fix it. Charles got offended and thought that I was talking to him in a bad way and refused to give me the keys. His response was that he was now going on vacation and will not be back in town until July 9th, nearly two and a half weeks after I dropped it off for a 4-day repair. I told him I would be at his place of work at 4: 30 to pick up the keys so I could come get the truck. I was there at 4: 30 p. M. On Friday July 29th 2018 and waited for half an hour and ringing the bell and finally was able to get ahold of Charles on the phone at 4: 55 p. M. He said that his schedule does not revolve around me and that he is now going on vacation and he did not like the way I was talking to him. He also told me that he would take his vacation and send me the keys in the mail as soon as he returned from his vacation on July 9th. This is absolutely ridiculous and unconscionable that a business owner, a small business owner in a small place like Waco, would treat customers like this. I was able to get Charles on the phone twice to ask him for the bottom line, which was that I needed the key so I could pick up the Suburban and take it to a transmission shop for my 3 year old niece. even though it was still during his stated business hours, he said he was not going to get off his butt and come back into work to give me the keys because he didn't like the tone of my voice when I texted him. Now he says that my sister-in-law and three year old niece must wait until after July 9th when he returns from vacation for him to mail me the keys via snail mail and then, and only then, can I come pick up the vehicle, nearly a full months after I dropped it off at his place of business for a 4-day repair. Do not trust this person at all. I am putting in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will be reviewing him everywhere in order to save. Charles is a dishonest and usually offended person I have been a loyal customer of his since he opened his original shop and to have him treat me like this, even any type of customer, is absolutely astounding and ridiculous. Do not trust Charles Lara or Genesis custom Works! Do not trust them. Find a reputable person to take your stuff too and to buy your parts from. You will be doing yourself a favor. He is a dishonest and immature man. read more

I had some car issues and needed an auto repair shop that would shoot me straight and not take advantage of me like some places have before... I was referred to Genesis Custom Works by a friend and I am certainly thankful for that! Charles helped me out by giving me an honest quote and even helped explain the mechanical problems I had so that I would be more educated going forward... When it was all said and done I got 4 new tires, 4 new rotors & brake pads, and replaced some stuff on the front in as well... The work was exceptional and even though I spent a good deal of money it was nowhere near the amount I was quoted at other repair shops. If you want some one to shoot you straight and still do exceptional work I would STRONGLY recommend that you check out Genesis Custom... I will take all of my vehicles there from now on. read more
