Called for a basic maintenance service on my vehicle, not only was there no attempt made to quote me, but i also got hung up on before even finishing a sentence. I called them in hopes for a rear brake pad repair and first thing I got in return was this ignorant man saying we need an entire inspection (which we don't) and then interrupted us saying "we don't do break pad repair" and quickly hung up. I had to get my front wheel bearings and drivers side spindle replaced after braking down on the way to school. They told me they would take a look at the spindle and see if it needed to be replaced or if they could fix it and i asked them to give me a call if it needed to be replaced and i could go pick up a used one from the parts yard and have it to them that day. by the end of the day they finally gave me a call back saying they already had a spindle on the way and it should be fixed by the next day and i was charged $70 dollars more than what i would've paid for it. i also told them i had the wheel bearings to do the job but they insisted in using their own parts rather than what i had. this costed me an extra $90 dollars. when they called me and told me that the spindle was on the way i was also told that the total was going to be $259 and some change before tax. when i got there they then told me that it would be $359 and change and then tax. turns out the paper the person who was on the phone with me the day before had a paper saying $259 and when the person at the desk showed it to me you could clearly see that the 2 was changed to a 3 by adding a loop to the top of the 2. I was charged $370 when it could've been done for $150 or less. read more

OLD SCHOOL HONESTLY: We were visiting Waco, and I took my Jeep in for what I thought could be a starter issue. Mike, at the front desk, was friendly and assured me that they would look at it carefully. By the end of the day, Mike called and told me they tested everything and couldn't get the starter to fail. He said that he couldn't justify selling me on something I might not need at the moment and left the decision up to me. They kept the Jeep overnight and again, no problems in the morning. When I picked it up, Mike told me there was no charge even for the time involved for looking at it. Being from out-of-town, I was very pleased with the honesty. As a result, I gave them some cash to buy the whole shop lunch that day...sorta of a pay it forward thing! read more

After going to pep boys and getting a quote of $750 for new brake pads and new rotors (due to a shaky wheel when braking), I decided to come here to get a second opinion. As a young women I wanted to make sure I wasn't being taken advantage of, and I sure was! I was told here that my brake pads were basically brand new and didn't need replacement at all and that my rotors could just be turned for $83!!! The man I spoke to (believe his name was chris) seemed to really care about the best option, not the option that got them the most money. My car now runs better then it ever has! The his has been an enjoyable transaction. I had a incident in Feb 2023 that caused $5000 damage to the right undercarriage when I went over a curb that wasn't marked by the construction company that was doing the new median that separated the right side of the road from the left. there was no dirt or concrete pour in it nor did it have any barrel warning of it being unfinished. Apple Sport Body Shop was doing the repairs and after calling her this last week....she said they did a frontend alignment which could be no where near the truth as much as it was out. Dunn was really busy Thursday and I could see I was going to have to take it to them before they closed if I had any hope of getting them to do it. I did my due diligence when I was looking for someone to do this for me. I got a call at 9:30 in the morning and he explained how badly the car was out of alignment and what it would take to fix it. after I approved of the repairs....wow.....I got a call back at 12:30 it was ready. talk about informative and speedy, I couldnt ask for much more. I had two new tire two weeks prior put on because the two front tires....the new one Apple Sport put on and the other was newly put on in October last year....needless to say, wire came through just on the edge and that's when I had to buy two more new tires in July this year. This is a total rip off garage. I went there for an alignment and I was told my lower ball joints were bad. He also said it was a very labor intensive job and quoted me $650 to do it. His mistake was that I am a mechanic with 20 years experience and over 20 certifications to list on my resume. My ball joints are perfect. Furthermore, ball joints are not that labor intensive. They aren't fun but lower ball joints take under an hour a side to do. I have replaced countless ball joints in my career. This shop has been caught red handed by a real expert! I posted an HONEST review of my experience with Dunn's Auto Repair, and I want people to know that the response that I received back from them is NOT accurate! FACT #1) While it is true that the body of my Hummer has over 220,000 miles on it, as she noted (to imply that my vehicle is old and so this is to be expected), the motor and transmission were BOTH replaced with BRAND NEW ONES (NOT rebuilt ones) and only have about 38,000 miles on them, NOT 220,000.00. The dishonest folks over at Dunn's ARE aware of this FACT, and this is just another example of their DELIBERATE DISHONESTY! FACT #2) I spent THOUSANDS of DOLLARS on the SAME ISSUES, repeatedly over the course of 7-8 months and they would've continued charging me over and over again if I hadn't stood up for myself!! I had to ARGUE with them repeatedly for a very long time just to FINALLY get them to agree to at least fix part of it again without charging me, and when I went in this last time, they ARGUED with me AGAIN, and he actually told me that if I didn't like it I could take my vehicle somewhere else....so that's exactly what I DID! I took my vehicle to a mechanic that someone referred to me on the Old Dallas Highway and he fixed part of the problem for me for $95.00, and he was HONEST with me about the other issue as well. He said that the sensors are coming on periodically and going off because the front end is a little out of sinc (from a wreck I had) and that's why the sensor lights come on periodically and go back off, and replacing the front hub was just a waste of my money (Dunn's replaced it TWICE btw),since the only way to solve the problem long term would be to replace the frame or disconnect the sensors. Dunn's can try to SPIN this however they want, but these are the facts.... read more

I've been using Dunn's for about a year now for taking care of general repairs on several of my cars. Everytime they have been fairly priced and got the job done promptly. They've done a cluthch change on a Honda for me, AC overhaul on a Chevy truck, a few oil changes and a front end alignment on a camaro and a brake job. On my most recent visit, I was having problems with my turn signals and expected to replace the switch on the column for around $200. Much to my relief, I got a call and Dunn's informed me that the mechanic cleaned some contacts on a connector and everything was working fine. I ended up spending $30 for this repair and it reinforced my trust that they were not out to rip me off with false diagnoses or just change parts to cost me more money. You can always call in advance and get a good quote as well. I've never bought tires from them so I can't comment on that but they have a competent staff of mechanics and have always been polite and happy to answer other questions related to my car's maintenance. read more

Really could use some paint, but I didn't really care because they treated me well and their prices seemed fair. I've been twice. Once for a flat which was $12 to fix and another for a sensor issue in a tire. I don't remember the cost exactly but they quoted me around $130 and it ended up being closer to $100. Too disgusted with the whole situation for words. I've been coming to this shop since 2002 for car repairs and I will no longer be a customer. Word to the wise if you must get your vehicle repaired here, stay up there with your car. Even if it's 3 days. If not you might end up like me and end up leaving with other things broken and 3 1/4 inch wood wedges holding up a window that was naturally up on its on when you brought it to them. One great example of their honesty & integrity was when I thought we needed a repair to an A/C on one of our vehicles. They called to tell me that it did in fact need a repair BUT they would be taking care of it! They had looked up in their paperwork and found we had already had the repair done previously and it was under their warranty. I did NOT ask for them to do this. I did not even remember having that repair done! They also ended up not using that same brand of part because they said it was not as reliable as they thought it should be. Wow! My family has been using Dunn's Brake and Tire for years time after time they get the job done thoroughly, competitively priced, and most cases same day. I travel for work and put over 60,000 miles on my car last year. Dunn's replaced my brakes at the beginning of the year and I didn't have any problems the whole year. I was recently in there because I ran over a tire on I-35. After thoroughly inspecting the car. They found that I had bent the control arm. This accident also cause my alignment to go out of alignment and a need for a tire due to the belt showing through. Dunn's was able to do this all in one day with a very reasonable price. Our car's brakes were making some subtle new sounds. It's our first car and we don't know anything about brakes, so that made us nervous. Dunn's inspected the brakes, cleaned them up, reassured me that there was nothing wrong with them beyond some dirt, and charged me nothing. They don't advertise free brake inspections (maybe so that they wouldn't get confused with some flaky places?), and I went to them expecting to pay, and was pleasantly surprised. And they were courteous and professional throughout. Plus they're conveniently situated by Barnes and Noble and Home Depot, so there is something to do while waiting (they also have a waiting room and a shuttle service). They have a discount coupon on their website, but since the inspection was free, I didn't need to use it. read more
