Ive had many experiences with mechanics in my life and to be honest most I have felt comfortable with, not all. However, I have had none I felt were more fair and transparent and communicated better than the guys at McDonough's. In comparison to my previous experiences, I feel I have been often undercharged here for the amount of knowledge required and the time it takes to troubleshoot problems. I have an older model truck, and the horn went out right before inspection. I called McDonough and talked to the owner Bryan, and he assured me that they would make sure it would pass inspection. An hour later, I had a working horn, an inspected (and passed) truck, and I was only out a few bucks. This is a great place to take your car for auto service in the Waco area. They got my car in for a relatively minor repair - wheel bearings - takes about an hour at the dealer. However, they kept the car for TWO WEEKS. Said they had trouble getting parts. Okay. But when I got the car back, every radio station on my fancy Satellite radio had been reset to AM Talk Radio, Fox News and Christian Rock, which is not my thing. And I had almost a full tank of gas when I took it in and it was almost empty when they gave me my car back. Why would anyone reset the buttons on your radio unless they were driving it? And being obvious jerks about it? I had to rent a car so they could joy ride in mine? Oh heck no. Not going back. read more

I've gotten great service and fair prices at this shop. While not a large business it is locally owned and doesn't charge overinflated service plus parts plus labor plus garage time plus plus. Quotes are fair and reasonable charges. Repairs done in a timely manners and have never had anything unsatisfactory occur down the road after repair either. read more

These guys were so patient , and ready to help . I'm usually taken advantage of as a woman going to car dealerships and auto shops etc but these guys were so honest and fairly priced too. The employees were professional and polite. Three things matter to me: 1. Integrity -- McDonough knew what they were talking about and knew the costs and results to expect from different options - no sugar coating or hard sell. Very honest!!! 2. Competence -- They performed a very complex repair on my All Wheel Drive Volvo (finding and swapping out a blown motor)... I've been driving this vehicle 8 months and it is running extremely well... Very, very pleased with their work!!! 3. Cost -- I got more than I paid for -- the advice, peace of mind in being able to trust them, and the great result were worth more than I paid.
