Ama saved my wedding dress. I purchased a dress online. Everything short notice ( I didn't even get measured until August and married in sept). She helped me and fit me in her schedule and made a bag wedding dress hug and give me a waist like I envisioned. She did the fitting for my husband who rented Michael Kors tux from her he looked and said he felt amazing ! The only thing I wish I had spoken up about is measurements when written down they equated to 2 sizes bigger than I wear if I would of spoken up then maybe I might have spent less in tailoring pricing? But all in all worth every penny for her hard work !

Ms. Ama helped to alter a big ol' princess ballgown into the wedding dress of my wildest dreams! Dialogue was open and Ms. Ama was receptive to the descriptions and the details I provided about the dress design. As a master seamstress, Ama was able to offer ideas and suggestions that would enhance the dress; she was also able to figure out ways to engineer undergarments and layers that would make my dress comfortable and visually appealing. Ms. Ama took time to remove & replace (by hand!) some crystals and gems to make the top half of the dress more appealing. In the end, I was ecstatic with the results and our wedding guests were in awe of the fun wedding gown created by Ms. Ama! AND she made sure all purchases and alterations stayed within my budget! If you would like Ms. Ama's services, here are some suggestions: -PLAN AHEAD and START EARLY. -Have a clear idea of what you want (including material, colors, style/design with picture examples, like from Pintrest, Google, magazines, etc.) AND your budget before your first appointment. This will make the best use of your time and her time. -Note that there is probably a fee for your first appointment. When you schedule the initial appointment, ask what the expected fee will be for that appointment. And be prepared to pay said fee before you leave on the day of your appointment. (Remember, time is money to all businesses.) -Note that Ms. Ama is busy, especially in the months leading up to & including prom and wedding season. (We began designing my dress in November, and it was ready by May for my June wedding.) -Speak up if you don't like or want to change something during the process. (I did, and Ms. Ama was able to fix the design to my liking!)

Wow! I can't begin to tell you how wonderful and kind Ms. Ama the owner of this bridal shop is! I love her so much... She made my experience so pleasant and special! Even though she is very busy her work and attention to detail is remarkable. She beautifully altered my very detailed fancy wedding gown, my very detailed reception dress and my rehearsal dinner dress...and they fit so perfectly! You will be so happy if you work with Ms. Ama... I will only trust her with anything else I need in the future. Make sure you make an appointment because she is busy lady and now I can see why... She's the best!

It's a small store but with excellent choices of wedding dresses. I described my dream dress to Ama and she precisely found one for me. It didn't take me long to decide that it was TheOne! She measured me and ordered a new one. It took three month for the dress to be made and shipped from oversea. I was a little worried the fitting might take too long to be ready for my big day. But the first fitting was already nearly perfect! She only needed to alter the length a bit. I also ordered Ama's hand-made veil on that day. One week later, my dress and veil were both ready in perfect shape. Thank you Ama!

Just had my last wedding dress fitting; and I'm beyond happy with my gown. It is jaw dropping gorgeous. We designed it together

Another one of my…read morefriends was in search for a wedding dress and because of my other friend's experience, I suggested this spot! Happy to report that my friend found her dress! We were helped by Allie who was so patient with us from beginning to end. They have a cute dressing room for the bride to try on dresses. Allie helped my friend try on 5-6 dresses that we initially picked out, and she then brought 2-3 more to try based on the feedback we were providing throughout the fitting. After my friend picked her dress, we also asked about veils to which Allie picked a few out. She even went as far as bringing one from the back that had just been brought in. That newer veil ended up being the one my friend went home with. We were given complimentary champagne to toast to finding my friend's dress & veil. Overall, Allie and Cherie's Bridal made the process of finding a dress seamless. My friend (and I) had such a great experience overall. Local tailors were also provided to help with any alterations. Cherie's is accessible right off the parking lot (there's a direct entrance), and can also be reached through the inside of the Savage Mill building if you come in from the Big Lot.

And I felt like they thought of everything, including having a fan in the changing room because it gets really hot trying on dresses! I loved the design of having my friend on a couch just outside the curtains so I didn't have to keep walking out of a room. They also had a great selection of dresses, at good prices (the ones I tried were between 1-3k). I also love the idea of buying secondhand bridal. If you are looking for a dress this is absolutely worth a stop!

Before undertaking the work, Seleh ran through some of the considerations, including the fact that the mesh provided structural support that he would need to compensate for around the straps. He finished the dress on time and the removed mesh looked flawless. He completed a second round of alterations after my first fitting. Then, a week or two after I took the dress home (and nine days before my wedding), I panicked about the fit of the bodice and the straps and left a slightly frantic voicemail for Seleh. To his immense credit, he called me back in ten minutes to calmly and gently ask me what was wrong and how he could fix it. He didn't make me feel crazy or unreasonable and made a quick appointment for me a couple of days later. He turned around this last round of alterations in a couple days -- a complex addition of fabric under the dress straps to reduce itchiness and some alterations to the bodice -- and the dress was perfect after that. His work on the straps was particularly impressive because the added fabric was completely invisible despite the fact that the straps were irregularly shaped, ornate, and lace. All in all, Seleh gets top marks for skill, timeliness, and emotional sensitivity (all a must when altering wedding dresses). Thank you again, Seleh!

I am saying this to protect other brides, do not come here if you value your dress or your vintage…read moredress! Susan is one of the most unprofessional and unkind people I have ever met, and I like previous reviewers try to support small businesses ( please see my other reviews.) Susan and her team managed to give my dress back to me with blood stains (yes blood, see photos) and dirt after claiming it would be sent to their professional cleaners. (A verbal contract in the state of Maryland is a legally binding contract as well as paper.) She also claimed quote "it is not unusual to get a blood stains" "they are easiest to remove" "we leave it on until the end" unquote. Would you want your dress left with blood stains and dirt and given back to you like that a month before your wedding? Also, as we all know blood stains are some of the hardest to remove especially from white and delicate fabrics even with good hydrogen peroxide. My dress was a sample dress and only came in with a few water stains, which of course I knew because the store I bought it from informed me and sent photos . She kept claiming it came like that when I have clear before photos that it did not, from myself and the bridal store. Her team also made my drop waist an empire waist, which is exactly what I said I wanted to avoid since I have a short torso. I only wanted to raise the waist a little bit. So, I asked them to lower the waist again. They did not. She claimed my dress was just sitting in the done pile. They did not even sew the buttons back on. I looked at this dress since 2021 and it was my dream dress, but I couldn't afford it retail and was so happy when I got it at a sample sale. My heart has been broken. All it needed was a slight clean for small water stains in the back, some hemming and letting out the waist a little bit. Instead they ruined my dress. When I brought it to my personal dry cleaners the same day as that last fitting it was so filthy they were shocked and thought I had already worn the dress on my wedding day. Between them and another alterations team they stated it would not be ready due to the extensive dirt and damage on time (my wedding was in a month at that point and is still being extensively dry cleaned.) It was not even in sellable condition. So I clearly asked for a refund, but it took so long I disputed the charge with the bank. The bank refunded me of course, but by then the refund finally came in. The bank fixed the double refund, however Susan repeatedly harassed me about it and didn't believe me even when I showed her my bank statements that the second refund was cancelled. She also claimed she just gave me the refund without me asking (I asked in an email) and claimed my dress came that way even though I have photo proof before I brought it to her and the first day there. She also claimed I was harassing and bullying her when she started the emails and wouldn't let it go that the second refund had been cancelled and denying that having blood on a dress in your workplace is an environmental hazard. I only asked her to pay $280 in addition to the refund for the cleaning fee since her staff dirtied it which seemed reasonable considering the circumstances but she decided to gaslight me and did not take accountability. I would not wish the pain I have felt the last few weeks before my wedding instead of happiness on anyone. Again, it is customer's choice, but I would not recommend coming here. And in case you think this is just a disgruntled customer's review, please review the photos and keep in mind I was very kind to Susan and her team up to this point and even gave them gifts. I nor any other bride deserve this treatment especially after kindness. She now owes me $1500+ $280 =$1780 ( the value of the dress and my cleaning fee.) She and her team have caused property damage, non rendering of services, emotional distress, harassment, and slander and she will not even take accountability or admit it even with the proof. I also found her to be demeaning and rude to her employees whenever they tried to say anything in front of customers and observed that she constantly orders them around at all my appointments. So, buyer beware.

I was going to wait to write this review until after my 9/21/24 wedding, but felt it was imperative…read morethat I post sooner rather than later for the benefit of other brides. I will add photos of my dresses (if Yelp allows me to edit) after our wedding. I deeply love and respect small business owners, and understand the weight reviews have, so it pains me to leave this. I brought my dress to Susan and her team at their Baltimore location in mid-July 2024. My dress needed to be hemmed, taken in at the bodice, and straps shortened. I was quoted ~$1400. While expensive, I believe in Susan's mission of paying her employees a living wage and believed that this price reflected the high quality of their alterations. I also brought Susan a gown to be shortened to tea length, let out, and sleeves removed for my rehearsal dinner. I was quoted ~$1000. I picked up my wedding gown on Saturday, 9/14 after the prior 3 fittings in which I was expressing concerns with extra fabric in the side bust. In previous fittings Susan and her team attempted to add a dart to correct this problem, which caused the bust line to come to a point. I am grateful for their work to then remove the dart and try another approach to correct the issue extra side bust fabric issue. When I picked up my wedding gown, the problem of the extra fabric at the side bust was not corrected. Furthermore the cups were added to the dress without appropriately stretching the fabric around the cup, causing a bunching effect of the fabric. I picked up my dress, having paid an extra $100 for an extra fitting (per Susan's contract), and promptly brought my dress to another seamstress who, luckily, was kind enough to fit me in for a rush appointment less than a week before my wedding day. The bodice fit was easily corrected by this seamstress in one fitting. My rehearsal dinner dress was provided to me for pickup with a lining layer left raw, which I will now finish at home on my own machine. The horse hair hem of my wedding dress is not snug to the bottom of my hem, as it originally was, and in some locations, the hem doesn't appear straight. In one of my last fittings, Susan pointed out that the straps of my dress started to turn grey, which she claimed was from handling the dress a lot through alterations. She said I could get the dress cleaned if I wanted, but I declined. I understand how this was possible, but it seems that some measures should be taken to avoid discoloring wedding dresses while working on them. Susan repeatedly commented on the difficulty of working with designer dresses, and misidentified my dress fabric as crepe (it is silk mikado). I found it troubling that someone with her level of experience made these comments. I believe Susan was well-intentioned in her efforts to ease my anxiety throughout the process, and truly do appreciate the intention. Multiple times, she insinuated that I was experiencing "bridal psychosis", meaning that I was picking apart my dress given the pressures of being a bride. I agree - being a bride is stressful, and can lead us to second-guess ourselves. However, this phrase is inappropriate and gaslighting. My dress had serious problems, which another seamstress agreed with and promptly acted on. Furthermore, making light of mental illness in this manner is insulting. This experience left me more stressed than I have ever been in my life. I hardly slept or ate these last few weeks because in the two weeks before my wedding, I wasn't sure if my dress could be saved. I had nearby bridal shops holding samples for me, as until finding a new seamstress, I thought I would have to buy a whole new dress again. Susan stated her mission was to "take the stress out of dressing for your wedding." This is an admirable goal, which unfortunately was far from met in my case. Multiple times through my months of working with Susan and her team, I was asked to write a review. I'm deeply sorry it has to be this one. I appreciate the opportunity to work with Susan, Joan, and Joy, and genuinely wish them well and success with future brides' dresses. Perhaps I was just unlucky.

If I could give less than one star, I would…read more... I am not a bride, but a bridesmaid of a nearing wedding. Were I the bride, I would have performed some preliminary research on this business before sending my bridesmaids (and their hard earned money) to this hell-hole of a shop. Formally known as "Carmen's Bridal" (which also has horrible reviews) - this shop reeks of yellowing lace and inferior service. I was immediately turned off upon stepping foot in this "couture" bridal boutique, simply because it was an eyesore (and smelled like dirty diapers). The small shop is filled to the brim with old wedding gowns stuffed in plastic bags and prom dresses in all shades of hideousness.Unless I'm forgetting what the word "couture" means, this small dive was the opposite of class, sophistication, high-quality fashion, or precise sewing. I could go into details about the whole fiasco, but all events can be categorized as follows: Failure to respond to phone calls or written requests for assistance or support: Prior to picking up my dress on the agreed upon date, I called on four separate occasions, requesting that someone from the store please call me to confirm that my dress was ready for pick up. I never received a call back from the store owner/manager informing me of the status of my dress or what time I would be able to pick it up. I later learned through a fellow bridesmaid (who physically had to show up to the store due to her phone calls being avoided as well) that I did not receive a phone call from V&C was because the alterations of my dress (as well as hers) had not been completed. Late delivery of products and services: When I inquired why the alterations were taking so long they said, "The person who does alterations for us had a family emergency, the alterations should be completed next week"... I followed up with them next week to schedule a time for pick up and I was then told "Sorry for the delay, but your dress is still not ready. The person who does our alterations was sick. Your dress should be ready for pick up next week." Alterations that should have taken no more than 2 weeks, took a full month to complete. In other instances with different bridesmaids of the same wedding party, V&C failed to provide itemized billing as requested charging, failed to substantiate charges, delayed shipping of dresses to out-of-state residents by 6 weeks (and overcharged them for shipping), and in one case the alterations of the bridesmaid dress resulted in additional damage of the dress, which then had to be fixed by another seamstress. On the day I picked up my dress, the owner of the store was no where to be found, though she previously told me that she would be there to settle payment/reimbursement issues. Instead, her elderly mother, who speaks limited English, met me at the counter and gave me my dress... (good move on part of the owner. She must have known that I had a few choice words to share with her.) I paid for my dress and left the store without being a huge headache to the store owner's mother. (I'm not heartless... hopefully it's not her fault her daughter is a swindling, lying, cheat.) The alterations were awful... the hemline was gathered/bunched, frayed, and coming apart in different places. Once at the wedding venue, I found a pair of scissors and took a moment to cut away all of the loose strings dragging on the floor and getting caught in my sandals. I guess for an $80 alteration, I expected a cleaner hemline. Oh well.... In conclusion, if you are looking for an adventure, poor service, untrustworthy billing practices, shotty alterations, and a standard 1990s-styled Quinceañera dress, or perhaps dream of walking down the aisle in a dress reminiscent of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"... this might be the place for you. If not, save yourself the money, time, and frustration of dealing with this business and find ANYPLACE else to find your formal wear. DressBarn is probably better than this place on all fronts. About 6 weeks before my wedding, I had 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts about the dress I'd purchased. I went in wondering if I could find something I liked a bit more since I didn't want to settle on my wedding day. I was shown a few things and found something I liked. It was in my price range and arrived about 2 weeks later. I got it altered there also and it was completed a week or so later and my dress had the wrinkles pressed out too. All in all, I was a satisfied bride and sorry to hear about the bad experiences other folks had.
