I got my car towed by Gene's Towing to their facility my car was towed from Glenview all the way to Wheeling and I noticed they use a flatbed tow truck I was glad to see that. However when I went to pick up my car the next day there was a girl that tended to me with a very :-) and great personality. She actually knighted our service and we were in and out in no time so all I can say is my experience with Gene's Towing was a great experience and from that I would recommend and return for their future Services Thank you, Bruce Belisle. read more

Stuff is extremely rude and I witnessed a guy who works there tried to overcharge 2 man just because they don't speak English well and then they also refuse to service to another man because it's 5:03 pm he was there and waiting since 4pm so they ended up charging another day for this gentleman too and didn't give him his car (same story another guy with broken English). Racists, rude, ignorant people shame to do business with. It's so sad to see police department working with these people. read more

The rating is one star due to the horrible customer service provided by a young lady whom I dealt with when I came to Gene's Village Towing to pick up my license plates and sign the release form. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. Because of her, I would never consider taking my car for repair to Wheel-Inn Body & Motor Works the body shop associated with Gene's Village Towing. read more

I agree with the other negative reviews. The owner has no integrity. The police called Gene's to tow our car when it was smashed in a chain reaction pile up in a parking lot. Fortunately, we were shopping. It was impossible to reach Gene's to transfer permission to State Farm to pick up the car. It took me two days to get the necessary paperwork emailed to me so that the State Farm representative could pick up the car. It was so bad that I had to call Northbrook police and ask them to call the owner and tell him to release the car and give us the paperwork. When I protested about the four-day storage charge the owner Joey told me that I shouldn't get so worked up about being over-charged because State Farm would pay without complaint. I am also reporting this company to the STATE FARM FRAUD hotline. To report suspected insurance fraud, call State Farm® or the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB®) hotline: 800-TEL-NICB / 800-835-6422 read more

Fast professional service, always answers the phone, very reasonable price to relocate my car, the place to call in wheeling if you need a tow. Rick really knows how to operate his rig. Thanks read more

Wreckless driving with a vehicle on the flatbed. No sense of safety or concern to public.

Back again with an update on this horrible business. When I first spoke to Gene's, closer to the date of my accident, they casually informed me that I had to come in person to sign off on the car, no ifs, and or buts. However, their hours are completely incompatible with my work schedule, which has become even more of a hassle without my own vehicle. Literally, the gjuy on the phone made me feel bad for not having a rental car, though the main reason I didn't was because HIS business was stalling the insurance claim process. Just today, two weeks since the accident, I called and asked about the status of my car, as I'd left a note in their mailbox in a last ditch effort to get them my signature. They said that wasn't good enough, and I was like, "Okay, well you have to work with me here." And the reply? "No, you have to work with ME." Are you joking? Why didn't he offer an emailed form weeks ago when we first started this up? I had to act like a total jerk to get anything done. Long story short, if you are in an accident in Wheeling and Gene's shows up, ask for a different tow. read more

Thank you to Rick for coming to help me unlock my car last night, my cockatiel is safe and very happy!

Joey from Genes towing is amazing and will go above and beyond to help his customers. The tow truck drivers are also great and are a pleasure to work with. read more

Guy is a total jerk. Called him on The phone to get Info about picking up our car and this guy barely let me talk, kept talking over me and I'm pretty sure didn't hear a word I said because he didn't seem like he wanted to be on the phone. Very difficult to deal with once they have your car. Expensive. Do NOT recommend!!! I would give zero stars if I could. read more

Great experience. The police towed my car there (f*ck Wheeling Police). When I went there the lady behind the desk (Jackie I think) was very nice and helpful. The staff there was very involved and willing to help. There was a mistake later on the end of the police (once again, f*ck Wheeling Police) and my car ended up spending another night there, but the people were really nice and didn't charge me an extra day of storage knowing it wasn't my fault. Highly reccomend the place if you need a tow. Also, when you arrive, ask to speak to Arthur. He's a really good guy, very professional, with lots of expertise in this field. Overall amazing experience and I cant stress this enough, f*ck Wheeling Police. read more

Their drivers drive the cars like they are drunk. Seeing them swerve on the road with other peoples cars, I feel bad for anybody that hires this company. Horrible driving read more

My wife was involved in a vehicle accident close to an intersection one morning and Gene's towing came out with 1 tow truck when 2 vehicles were out of commission. They refused to take my vehicle to the body shop of my preference because they had come out with 1 flatbed tow truck, and were located in Wheeling. I wanted them to take my vehicle to the body shop I chose which was on the opposite side of town from them. Rick the tow truck driver left my wife, and child who was also in the vehicle to sit in the middle of that intersection for over an hour and put them in harm's way because I argued that they're supposed to take it where I want and he refused over $140, I'll explain. I asked Rick if they have another tow truck m He said no, I asked to get my vehicle out of the intersection so that my wife and child can be safe while they gather all their belongings. He refused and said it would cost $140 just to move it, put it down, and lift it again?! After arguing for so long I had no choice but to give in, I mean what would anyone else do in that situation? The next day I visited Gene's towing and that's when I saw 3 tow trucks just sitting there. I knew Rick was lying through his teeth at the scene. The unprofessional and rude female at the front desk immediately knew who I was and started giving me a hard time, asking for my Driver's license, purchase agreement for the vehicle, Registration, what may be in the vehicle, and some other nonsense to prove that was my vehicle? The audacity these pos people and company did to my family. Two days later I signed the release form to get my vehicle out of that pos place. The tow my insurance company assigned said they called Gene's Towing and Larry the manager told them it was never released after having to take off from work and drive out of my way to complete? The assigned towing service closed the order and my car stayed there for 1 week before anyone knew what had happened. I contacted my insurance company and informed them how deceptive and devious they're treating the situation and to be careful of Gene's tactics. A newly assigned towing service order was placed (2nd attempt). The tow truck driver contacted Gene's and let them know he was coming to pick up the vehicle and again Larry told them that their fees have not been paid because the car sat there holding space for some time. Yes, they were at it again with lies, confusion and greediness! That was all in 1 week. Here goes another week and my body shop calls me asking if the car was towed? I was speechless, I told my body shop that I would contact my insurance company and did. My insurance company immediately knew what was happening and were alert to their deceptive practices. The insurance company put in a 3rd order to have the car towed. Here's the kicker; that same unprofessional and rude female from Gene's towing called the next day asking me what do I what them to do with the vehicle because they've had it for 2 weeks and need to make a decision...what?! To anyone thinking of retaining their services, please for your families health and safety please stay away from Gene's Towing at all costs. read more

I recently was involved in a car accident in Glenview and the Glenview policed called this towing company. The driver arrived with a flat bed tow truck much to my relief as my car is brand new and I wanted to have the best possible towing for it. The driver was very friendly and polite. He answered the questions I had and took great care with my car. When I called Gene's the next day to authorize them to release my car to the insurance company so it could be towed to a body shop for repairs, I spoke to Joey. Joey told me that if I didn't know where I wanted to get my car repaired, that Gene's has a body shop - Wheel Inn Body & Motor Work - at this same address. I ended up having my car repaired there - see my review on Yelp - and had a wonderful experience. I can't thank Joey enough for his recommendation. It was a pleasure doing business with him. read more

Quick Service and Knowledgeable Driver on getting my car door open. I recently left my key in my car in the Accessory position. If I had to wait a long time, the battery would have drained and my battery is rather old. Tony quickly arrived in Northbrook. Though he had to wait because my company has tight security for the parking area and building, he was patient. Once at my car he had me in within 2 - 3 minutes. I could not have asked for better. I noticed a few mentions, from 2 years ago, about the receptionist. It was early morning so could have been a service. I would rate that interaction as acceptable. Nothing unpleasant. Nothing warm. No problem. read more

I can't say enough about how helpful Genes's Village Towing was. A huge thank you to Larry he really did an amazing job on repairing my Subaru 2013 Brz after I got in to an accident. Very generous staff members! I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I was in an accident and had my car towed to them. I'm sure the lady on the phone gets yelled at a lot, but boy what a bitch. when i went to sign over the car to a charity they said i needed to pay storage fees as well. the car was there for less than 24 hours and they wanted to charge me 2 days of storage. the charity could not pick up until the following morning so they wanted 3 days storage. $190 for the tow (5 miles) + $35 a day from the time it gets there. if you get into an accident in Northbrook, tell the police you will call your own towing company. read more

Drivers very rude. My husband called for after hours towing and was told the tow was too far and it would take 3 hours before he could get there. I called back and was told no problem. Do your drivers only drive for women? I have heard this before around town. There is one in particular making a name for himself. read more

I have dealt with Gene's for a long time now for work on my car and find them to be very fair and honest people who do fantastic work. Their prices are much less than what the dealers charge for auto service...I won't trust my car to many people but Gene's I trust 100%. Very professional company. read more

They charged much more then the price they suggested over the phone. It was a robbery of a kind. Over $170 for less then 5 miles of towing. Scammers! read more
