When this auto shop first opened in Northbrook years ago, I was very excited because I thought "yay...I don't have to take my car to my dealership anymore" since I felt I was always overcharged for their parts and services". Heart was a little bit cheaper than my dealership so I was happy to give them my business. The front desk people were always friendly over the phone and in person and they were never pushy. My issue with them is regarding their honesty. I urgently needed a new car battery 3 years ago (2023). I called them on a Friday afternoon to check if they had a car battery for my particular make/model/year in stock. I was told they had it in stock and to bring in my car first thing Saturday morning. I was able to drive my car to their shop the next morning and the store manager at the time made sure that I got a new battery right then and there. He even called me the next day to make sure my battery was working fine. WOW! I was truly amazed by this high level of customer service. I've never had anyone from my dealership call me to check in. So over the next few years, I kept going to Heart for other services and was a very satisfied customer until today (Sept 2026). We needed to replace our car battery today since it was leaking and my husband decided to replace it himself. We went to Costco to purchase the new battery and bring in the old battery (for disposal) and what did we notice today? Heart installed the WRONG size car battery in my car 3 years ago!!!!!!! The Costco employee at the tire center was like "Is this the car battery that was in your car?" due to the obvious size difference between the battery we were going to buy at Costco and the one installed at Heart! Seriously? Not sure if the wrong size affected my car since it was jiggling under the hood all this time! Yes, my car drove fine with the wrong size battery all this time, but they installed the wrong size! The casing for the battery was TOO SMALL!!! They probably don't expect most customers to go under their hood and inspect or change the battery themselves so they probably didn't think we would notice the size difference! VERY DISAPPOINTED! They could have mentioned to me that the car battery they installed was a little bit smaller in size but not to worry since it wouldn't affect my car. A heads up about this would've been nice. But nope....no mention at all! They lost our business. We will never go to them again for any service!

I can't say enough great things about Moberg's Auto Repair. My partner brought his vehicle there…read morelast year after getting a quote from the dealership for over $7K in work. Moberg's was able to tell him exactly what needed to be done and performed the required work for $1200. So, I just recently brought my 2009 Honda Fit in to get the clutch replaced and diagnose a screech when I started in cold weather. Mike was able to diagnose that I did not need a new clutch and the screech was most likely from a worn serpentine belt. Total $150. They could have easily just replaced the clutch and made a lot more $ and I wouldn't have known the difference. Now that is remarkable (shouldn't be but in these times it is). I would tell anyone to go there for good, reliable, honest work.

As soon as my husband picked up the car and started driving it, smoke began coming out of the vehicle. Not only was the original problem not fixed, but the car came back in worse condition than when I brought it in. I was then told the vehicle actually needed over $5,000 in turbo repairs. Had I been told that from the beginning, I never would have agreed to the $850 repair. As a customer, I expected a proper diagnosis. As a mechanic, you would think the goal would be to correctly diagnose the issue and make the vehicle better--not return it in worse condition. One of the most concerning parts of this experience was learning during a phone call that the vehicle was never test-driven after the repair. I have a recording of that conversation, and Andy was very rude . Like you are going to be rude when you just stole money from me . The communication throughout this process was also frustrating. Whenever I asked questions or requested that we communicate through email so everything would be documented, I was repeatedly told to call instead. I felt my concerns were dismissed, and I was spoken to in a rude and unprofessional manner. The only resolution they offered was to refund the cost of the parts, not the full amount I paid. They also wanted the parts they had installed returned. I repeatedly asked how I was supposed to know that my original parts would actually be put back on my vehicle, but I never received a clear answer. I kept telling them that After trying to resolve the matter directly, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because I felt I had no other option. Definitely do not recommend.

Additionally, I found the oil change price really couldn't be beat even though Brian admitted he was recently forced to increase his oil change price! I added a tire rotation which they packaged together for more savings. Finally, as part of the oil change, they noticed my transmission cap had popped off and trans fluid had splashed out onto the engine. They recommended a Trans flush due to this which I thought worthwhile and went for it! All this happened as I waited, and they beat every time estimate they provided.
