My house was painted by Gene's painting a few years ago. Paint is still holding so all good....but, don't be fooled by Genes big truck. He hires a crew and doesn't do any of the painting himself. His crew requires constant reminders, they are very very unorganized, and they forget your directions constantly... I mean constantly. My house looks great paint wise because paint is paint and I had to babysit the crew, but I still stare at all the places they missed or covered up when they were not supposed to despite multiple reminders. If you need anything not painted, do it yourself and don't trust that Gene's "crew" will remember because they will mess up. If you want a company you can trust, I would look elsewhere. read more

I do not recommend doing business with Gene's Painting. I will admit that they did absolutely no work for me, however, I found the entire experience to get a quote highly unprofessional. After Gene sent someone to my home to inspect the job, it was like pulling teeth to get a written quote sent my way. And, when speaking to Gene after multiple requests for the quote, I found him to be unprofessional in his communications with me. I declined to do business with this company because in my experience, if someone starts off this way prior to the start of a job, it only gets worse from there. I ended up going with Master Koatings and saved $3,000 from the quote that I reluctantly received from Gene's Painting. By the way, I asked if the quote included sanding my fence, he said no which based on the condition of my fence, there is absolutely no way paint/stain should be applied in many areas of my fence without sanding. A pretty shoddy approach to how they would have completed the job. The job is now complete by JMaster Koating and looks amazing! read more

I can't say enough good things about Gene and his crew. They were on time, clean and courteous. The most important thing is Gene CARES about his name and the work that he represents. Case in point. We have the typical 1940's house with shingle siding that isn't made anymore. To preserve it, they sanded and painted it with the semi-gloss paint that we chose. Wrong choice since the semi-gloss highlighted all flaws in our decision in keeping our shingle sidings. When we mentioned it, he came over on the same day and came up with a solution that we were both happy with. The end result are extremely satisfied customers. We had a great experience with Gene and his crew. The cost was very reasonable, and Gene was patient with my changing my mind a couple of times about the scope of work. His team was professional and friendly. The job took 4 days. However, as they completed each area they cleared away plastic and tarps so it was easier each evening to move around, use the kitchen, etc. At the end of it all I have a beautifully painted bathroom, kitchen, lr, dr and hallway. Gene LaDoux was a very personable, knowledgeable individual. It was his web page that convinced me to go with him painting our lovely home in preparation for Selling in the New Year. We identified some wood rot in Arbor and deck seating; which he said his Carpenter could take care of before painting and would be no extra charge. Job was to take no more than 3 days. During removal of said wood rot, it was discovered more. We discussed with Gene this understanding and agreed to compensate him for the additional wood needed to replace. There was no painting involved on the Stucco portion on 3 sides of our home, only front and wood trim and deck Arbor with benches. It took over 1 week to complete job. We had Pest Inspection prior to listing and so much more "obvious wood root was shown to us by Inspector." When I called Gene, his comment was "you get someone to fix these areas, and I'll have my guys return and pain." These Carpenters should have identified these quite easily and fixed and painted. The reason they took over 1 week to complete was because they would take a break every 2 hours, sitting on the side of my house. At one point I asked them if Gene knew how often they took these breaks, they only laughed and said Nooooooo. Of course now, in the middle of selling our home these oversites have to be disclosed. They should have been repaired by his Carpenter in the first place. To have someone come in again to fix 3 small areas $4,000.00. read more

He and his crew have painted several rooms inside our home and they just completed painting the outside of our home. All for a reasonable price. As first time homeowners we were pretty nervous about picking out exterior paint colors for our new house. We didn't want our new neighbors to think we had awful taste! Gene was super helpful and patient with us while we picked colors. Once the painting began, all of his crew were really great. They got there promptly each day and were pleasant to interact with. They cleaned up after themselves each day (a big plus as we have a dog that likes to bury things!). The finished product looks awesome! We're really happy with the colors and the workmanship. I got Gene's name from the Better Business Bureau (old-school integrity department). Gene and his crew painted the exterior of our 90-year-old bungalow. The house needed a ton of prep work and was in pretty bad shape. Gene's work was absolutely first-rate, and I would recommend his company highly. The crew scraped, power sanded and power washed the bejeezus out of the house. They located and patched all the dry rot. They applied boiled linseed oil to all patches of bare wood, let it stand for a day, primed with oil-based primer, then painted with the paint of our choice. The cleanup was thorough and was done every day. Gene inspected the work regularly and told the crew what he wanted done, how he wanted it done, and planned the project timing from start to finish. The results are outstanding and the price was right. Why aren't more contractors like this? read more

Our house was overdue to be painted on the outside since it had been 22 years since it was last painted. Besides peeling paint, the knots in the eaves showed through since they were never sealed properly and they always looked terrible against the white paint. To make the house look worse, there was years of dirt and cobwebs on the house. I found Gene's Painting through Home Depot who sent me several contractors to talk to. Gene came over right away to discuss what we wanted, listened to our concerns, and offered great ideas, and before he left he handed me a fair price. I talked to one other painter and decided that Gene's service would fit our needs and budget best. We were very pleased with Gene's staff and service: the house was well washed, the knots were properly sealed, plant roots attached to the wood were removed and the house was professionally primed and painted by Gene's well trained staff. You might be happy at first until you dig 2 years later and found: 1 They are not lead certified , a requirement in California , do not hire a Painter which is not lead certified , they must have completed OSHA/ EPA / Renovation / Repair / Painting safety-classes and be current , do not hire any contractor without poof of insurance and liability for their workers , Should they not be Insured it is you the property owner which assume full liability even if you have hired them . 2 They did not hesitate to dump all the 100 year of lead paint on the raspberry and vegetable garden , that is a Federal offense . the debris they did not throw in the garden they left them in the window sill { State lead inspector saw them ...} 3 They did not wrap the house to avoid lead dust paint to contaminate neighbors , highly toxic to young children , pregnant women , anyone with allergy and the Elderly . 4 they left more trash behind the camellia they did not kill than the roofer . 5 they do not know went wood is dry rotten they will paint right over it . 6 they do not know the difference between red wood and poplar . 7 they forgot to paint the top front of the gutter. 8 they do not know how to sand wood , left deep grove in 110 years old redwood trim 9 They dumped all left over paint on the ground or behind the bushes , painting tree trunk . 10 I had to call to get their equipment removed 11 2 years later I still find pieces of plastic tarp attached to the house . 12 this did not prevent them from painting the shrubs and dropping pain all over 13 the paint is bubbling on the window sill , yet the sill had been prepared with penetrating epoxy to seal out the moisture to avoid bubbles . 14 they did not sand the execs epoxy on the window , nor told me they would not do it I would have an handyman prep the house . 15 I loaned them a power tool to remove old paint very fast , the type you can attach to vacuum cleaner for lead paint , they had never seen it , did not even know it existed . 16 crew had big fight , it was vulgar , very vulgar . However Gene love Lemon , if you have a Lemon tree ,, He came with a big shopping bag every day , left me zero . tell him you need them beside He can afford them . I WILL DEFINITLY RECOMMEND THEM TO SOMEONE I HATE ..... I hired Gene to paint our rental house inside and out. I live pretty far away so I just gave him control of the project more or less. I asked he paint the outside about the same color. I expected him to paint the inside white, but I clearly wasn't opinionated about it. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw he picked a couple nice warm yellows. It looked beautiful! I was shocked and when I asked him about the risk which I thought he took since he didn't check with me before hand. He said if I didn't like it, he would have just repainted it. I would have given 5 stars but I had them refinish the cabinets in the kitchen which I thought could have looked better (maybe my fault, they should have been painted not refinished) and there were some details with hardware that was overlooked. He came out and fixed part of it even after he was paid. In any event, I highly recommend this company, they are skilled and care about the work they provide --Very trustworthy. Most importantly, if I had another house, I would hire him again. PS. His bid was significantly cheaper than the other 2 I got. I waited two months to have my house painted by Gene's Painting, when they arrived, Gene never said good morning, or even hello. I thought they were going to paint the entire house, but found out the estimate was just for the trim, doors and under porch and iron rail. I expressed that my understanding was to paint the entire house, and wanted to discuss doing that. Gene took offense to something I said, because he left, and told his crew to leave. I said "wait...why are you going...we just have a misunderstanding" he said "no one talks to me like that", I said "how am I talking to you that you find offensive? I am not saying anything terrible...I think we are having a communication problem" He repeated "no one talks to me like that" and he left.
