John made a good, positive lasting impression. He painted our interior. When he visited to assess what was needed, he made some valid recommendations to needed work such as caulking to improve the quality of the job. He provided useful feedback when we asked about color suggestions. He went quietly about his work while painting. His quote was very reasonable. Highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to use his services again. read more

I picked Native Design based on all the people who mentioned their attention to detail and I was not disappointed! The owner, John, addressed issues I had identified as well as things I hadn't noticed. He noticed the vents on my roof were rusted and needed rustoleum, caulked the heck out of my eaves and fixed a bent up grate at my roofline. He warned me off a bad screen door choice and handled my side quest requests with grace. My house looks stunning. He and Louis were easy to have at my home, spoiled the dogs rotten and told great stories while they worked. Really nice guys, really great work. read more

I used Yelp's project feature to find a housepainter and got 5 responses, several of which were just "call for estimate." John, by contract, sent a thoughtful and detailed reply with a range of options and some intelligent questions he had based on the photos I had sent. We hired him to repaint two sides of our 1915 Craftsman as well as our deck and front steps. He also coordinated the work of a handyman to do some minor repairs prior to repainting. His crew spent a whole day scraping and another day priming, and John himself completed the actual painting over the next few days. He is very skilled, great to work with, courteous and considerate, and he and our dog fell in love the moment they met, in part because of the steady stream of treats John brought for him. I highly recommend Native Design Painting. read more

Highly recommend John. He is through and has good insight on painting projects. He communicates well and was a pleasure to work with. Also when I went to Sherwin Williams on Foothill and told them John was our contractor they strongly endorsed him read more

Of the three painters we met with to get quotes on painting the interior walls, doors, windows, and ceilings of our home, John stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of his professionalism, friendliness, and straightforward explanation of his reasonable costs. Turns out we were not wrong - John's work was fantastic and we couldn't be happier with how our home looks. Also, right in the middle of John's scheduled 5-day painting job, we had a plumbing leak which resulted in a number of contractors coming and going and disrupting John's scheduled work. During this time, John's flexibility, patience, and kindness were on full-display. He gladly put his job on hold until the water damage repairs were done, then finished without any extra costs (or bitterness :) Thanks, John! We're glad to have you as our painter. John did a great job painting the entire interior of our house. What I appreciate about working with him is that he is reliable. That is a quality that can be hard to find these days. His rates are reasonable, too. I would work with him again if the opportunity came up. read more

John did a great job painting our high ceiling walls by our stairs. Love the color! It was quick, no mess and price was reasonable.

We absolutely love John and his crew at Native Design! If you need a detailed painter who does a thorough job of prep work, is communicative, honest, hardworking and just an all around good guy, look no further! We hired John to paint the exterior of our 1940s home based on a recommendation on Nextdoor, and we couldn't have been more pleased. He was able to come out and give us a quote quickly and let us know during that visit when he'd be able to schedule our painting. His quote was right on par with the other quotes I received, but I hired him because I wanted to support a local small business, and I felt like he was the person I'd most want around my house for a week! During the job, John and his crew always showed up on time, kept the job site clean, and communicated their progress, questions, and any unexpected challenges. Our old house needed a lot of detailed prep work due to many years of sun beating down on it. Now it looks amazing in its new colors, and we couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience of working with John. We will be having him come back to paint our in-law unit and in the meantime will recommend him to everyone we know. :) read more

I can't recommend John and his crew more highly. We had a house that seriously needed a paint job and a TON of prep work. Here's what you need to know: - John was a great communicator from beginning to end. Attention to the details and willingness to go at length to help us understand what the issues were, our choices, and his recommendations. - Shows up and reliable. - Very reasonable pricing - The house looks great! - Went the extra mile. Example: we needed serious repair on a post and while we said we would take care of it ourselves after the paint job because we couldn't get our act together, he called up his contractor friend and he was able to get it done in a day so we don't have to deal with it (and the job was also reasonable). - Local small business (some of his crew live on Alameda). - Very considerate about our neighbors. These are all the reasons you should seriously consider them. But if you're still on the fence, John is a really, really nice guy. They were at our place for 2 weeks (yes, our house need a ton of prep and repair) and had some really nice conversations with him. read more

NEED A GOOD PAINTER? I just wanted to share a job I just had done by John Menor of Native Design Painting. I found him on Nextdoor, he was actually being recommended by another neighbor so I decided to try him. I had him bring my front door back to its original beauty. (see before and after pictures) He does great work, cleans up after himself every day, communicates any changes to his schedule and is reasonably priced. Works well with you to make sure you know what he is doing. I would recommend him if you need a well done paint project. 510-723-4450 +1 read more

Look no further - book John for your next painting job! John is the best painter in the East Bay. Here's just a few reasons why: - Attention to detail - He is super meticulous with his work. We have a lot of wood trim in our home, and he did the edges by hand directly up to the trim to avoid damaging any of the trim. It looks incredible & we know that is no easy feat. - Professionalism - He is prompt, courteous, unintrusive, clean, responsive, etc. He truly surpassed our expectations in our interactions. He would always inform us of what he was doing along the way. - Quality - He doesn't sacrifice quality and recommended certain brands of paint to ensure a lasting finish for our home. His pricing is also fair - we quoted another top paint company in the region and received the same quote as we did from John. Thank you John! We will definitely be looking to you for future paint services in other parts of our home. read more

Highly recommend Native Design Painting for any and all painting work. Their work and service are unmatched! I needed my home painted prior to moving in but I was on a tight timetable. Quotes were all over the place and I was not getting clear answers ... until I found John. John responded to my Yelp inquiry immediately and walked me through everything I needed to know. He was reasonable, fair, experienced and responsive. He quoted a fair price, 3 - 4 days for the whole house, went with our choice of paint colors, brand and sheen. John and his team took great care of my home, keeping in contact throughout the job and clarifying anything needed to get the job done right. They made sure everything was on track and going as expected. I was able to trust this crew completely with my home without any hesitation. Did I mention they were also friendly? read more

The exterior of my family's home was neglected for some years. The stucco had cracks and the wood trim was peeling. We needed some TLC! I like recommendations from friends and noticed a home nearby that had some painting done. That's when I found Native Design Painting. John was very helpful in giving us the best product availability and prepping everything. He repaired what he could and provided spot filling to ensure a clean job. With 3 coats of paint and efficiency, the price was definitely worth it! This house never looked so good. And it's safe to say the neighbors appreciate it, too. We're quite thankful for John and his crew. Would not hesitate to use him again. read more

John and Danny did excellent work on our 1930s home. We needed to have some bare stucco repair spots painted and decided to change the color of the trim at the same time. We had several quotes before John was able to contact us, but every interaction with John was ideal. He was friendly, professional, punctual, courteous, and thoughtful. His pricing was very reasonable, and he didn't try to upsell us like every other painter. Every step of the way, John let us know the plan for the day, texted us at at the start of each work day, and made sure we were happy with all his and Danny's work. Danny did most of the painting while John was at other jobs, and he was also excellent. They both paid great attention to detail, cleaned up after themselves each day, and even brought treats for the dogs! Once or house is ready for a full repaint, we will be calling John again for sure! read more

John recently painted my elderly Mom's house in the Hayward Hills. He came out and was on-time to give me an estimate, which was very competitive. He gave us two options to fit my Mom's budget. We scheduled the job. The house is old and needed a lot of prep work. I just asked him to paint it the same colors, as my Mom did not have any paint left from the earlier paint job. John picked the paint for me, which was really helpful. He communicated with my Mom and kept me in the loop via text. He finished in 4 days taped off and cleaned everything up. My Mom is thrilled with the new paint job. I would recommend Native Design Painting 100%. read more

To simply state that we are happy with the service that was provided, would be an injustice to the level of detail and workmanship which John and Danny provided via Native Design Painting. Our house, which was built in 1960, needed a lot of work before the paint could be applied. John explained what needed to be done and provided a fair estimate. The finished product was fantastic...we literally feel like we are in a new home. We cannot recommend Native Design Painting enough. The process was pain free, professional, and left us completely satisfied. Thank you! read more

We received several estimates to have our old wood kitchen cabinets painted. This is a project we've contemplated for several years and I am so happy we finally got it done. Native Design Painting was by far the best estimate we could have received. It was reasonable and the presentation, experience and references sold me! I love the cabinets! Waking up this morning and seeing the white cabinets gave me such a good feeling. They look brand new! John the owner was very responsive to my initial call and gave me an estimate right away. When the job was started he was on time and completed the job in less time then quoted! John was professional, kind, communicates well and very detailed in his work!I If I could give Native Design Painting 10 stars I would, honestly!!! My husband is a handyman and very detailed in his work as well. If he is pleased with the outcome, it says a lot! . I hired John and his team to mud and paint our garage. He gave me the best quote among the 15 or so other businesses I reached out to via Yelp. I wanted the work done ASAP, but he was booked for the next 3 weeks! Luckily, he finished his prior commitments a little early and was able to schedule work on my garage within a couple of days. The results matched the quality I was hoping for and the entire job was done in 2 days! This was a huge convenience because all the garage items were stored in the house while the work took place. John is very responsive via text and his team has a great sense of humor. I would recommend his work and will surely reach out to him for my next project. read more
