We read the reviews on Yelp for this place and were a tad bit skeptical about going here. We still went ahead as they had outdoor seating and the day was fantastic. It really helped that there is a public parking lot just steps away from here, and we didn't have to worry about that. We walked out two hours later - happy with the beverages, food, and most importantly the service. We were puzzled at the negative reviews that we had read before we entered Generations. It's definitely worth visiting. We will go there again when we are back in the Lake Placid region. read more

If you are looking to get the worst bar side service of your entire trip this is the spot for you. The bartender completely ignored my friend and I upon arrival, forgot to bring our order until I reminded her twice and forgot to bring the check until I again, reminded her twice. I found the exterior of Generations to be very pretty with its holiday lights. Our waitress was the opposite of friendly and the appetizers/ main course took a while to be served. The taste was good, but I've experienced better. read more

My fiancé and I were staying at the Golden Arrow resort and had dinner at Generations on our first night there. Being people who don't really drink alcohol, our go to beverage when we are out is unsweetened iced tea. We've had good and we've had bad. Their iced tea was very good. Any place that serves bread while you are waiting for your meal gets a thumbs up from me. Especially when it's fresh, warm and soft. Their bread was delicious and the butter just melted right on. Next, our entrees. We both decided to order the surf n turf, I wanted a little bit of a variety. The meal consisted of a 4oz filet mignon, a crab cake and 2 grilled shrimp on a skewer, as well as mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The filet mignon was so tender and the generous sized crab cake was delicious and was full of crab meat. I could have done without the shrimp, they really didn't have much flavor. The mashed potatoes were really good and the vegetables were tender, buttery and very tasty. Overall we were definitely satisfied with our meals and would definitely eat there again. They also serve breakfast and lunch and would love to try something from those menus. read more

Had breakfast here one morning and loved the patio seating. They also have a great happy hour with $5/glass of wine and $3 beer. Sipping wine on their patio was a lovely way to spend a part of our afternoon. Very relaxed and casual. read more

We stayed at the golden arrow resport on our honeymoon. This was the restaurant attached to the resort. we tried it becausewe both wanted to drink and not drive. Itwas just ok. Food was good but atmosphere stunk. It was cold and very cafeteria like. With all the other choices there you think they would of made the place warm and rustic. Good place if you r staying there but not so good if you r just looking for a place to eat. We would not eat there again unless we stayed at the golden arrow. read more

For my taste I would consider this mostly a German restaurant. But! They are so accomodating. I had changes twice we went there. The chef did exactly what I asked for. Burger was very good. The porkchop I had I was very particular about what I wanted. Because of my order being different the chef put the sauce on the side so it would be my choice to use it or not. Wonderful! It was like au jus! Excellent! Casual atmosphere. Help friendly. More options for dessert would have been nice. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Had dinner here as part of an organized event. The menu was fixed, I had the trout. It was pretty good, though a fillet was a bit light on the stomach. I should have gone with the steak, which looked substantial. It's a nice-looking place, with windows on Mirror Lake. There's a lot of space inside. It's clean, service is fine, seems like your standard vacation-area fancy restaurant -- prices a little higher than normal, no great adventures on the menu, but a decent choice. read more

We went here twice. Notice I didn't say "ate" here twice. The first time, in 2012, we walked out after sitting unattended for 20 minutes (I looked at my watch - it wasn't "like" 20 minutes, it was twenty minutes). We ate here in August 2017 for dinner. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The hostesses told us the deck was closed because it had been raining. There were people sitting on the deck, and it wasn't raining. But whatever, sitting inside wouldn't kill us. We waited over five minutes before we saw a server, and our water glasses were filled by someone else after that. We ordered, and the second wait started. I did not look at my watch, but it was way too long. The young woman who brought the water forgot the pitcher on our table (for which I was thankful) and it was completely empty by the time our food came. The food wasn't bad, but it was not memorable in any way, and was overpriced (even by Lake Placid standards, which are generally high anyway). We were so bored, and had been there so long, by the time the check finally arrived we left cash so we wouldn't have to wait forever to get our card back. We gave them a second chance because there was no line to get in...in retrospect that should have been our warning. Next time we will wait in line somewhere else, the total wait time will still be shorter, and the food will be better. And cheaper. Don't waste ("Generations" of) your time with this one. read more

A single piece of corn tastes like an entire burrito. Amazing experience. I ordered the Cajun shrimp appetizer, which had grilled shrimp on a skewer with vegetables. One of the vegetables was corn. I was at first hesitant to eat the corn, because I really just wanted the shrimp. I took one singular kernel and popped it into my mouth. I was blown away. read more

I experienced the buffet which was apart of a group and I must say that the food was borderline inedible. A child even vomited in her plate after eating and the wait staff saw it and looked at each other they did not seem surprised at all. They did not offer to assist the mother with the vomiting child not a napkin and no one walked over to see if she was okay. The wait staff had to be asked to bus the vomit plate off the table. I witnessed a man who had a wine bottle and two Solo cups on the table that contained wine. A hostess ran to the table and spoke very sternly to the man "you need to get that out of here we could lose our liquor license! And those two cups I see they have wine I will dump them unless you get up right now " the man said okay and started to gather his things and she grabbed the cup. He said hold on I'm leaving. I understand it wasn't BYOB but that is no way to handle a situation like that. The man didn't give any sort of a hard time to be spoken to like that. It's really ashame. When I think of lake placid and the quaint town I think the staff would be warm and welcoming unfortunately this is not the case. They seem annoyed that we were there. As for the Buffet it was very difficult to eat because some of the food was way too over cooked and dry including the kids food like pizza and hamburgers. read more

Visited during Ironman week/weekend and they went out of their way to accommodate the athletes and their families while in town by having a great build your own, all you can eat, pasta bar. Full with proteins, veggies, different sauces, and noodle types. Great idea! I had the key west lemonade martini to accompany my soba noodle and tofu entree and they both were fantastic. Came in with low expectations but it turned out to be not that bad. After a weekend of roughing it in the Adirondacks, a burger and a beer is all I wanted and that's what I got during my visit to Generations. There was a good selection of beer, not terribly priced and our waitress was nice. They managed pretty well to accommodate us, a group of 7 guys coming in out of nowhere, on a fairly busy day. We came here for breakfast after a 5 mile run on a Saturday morning. The service was awesome and the food was amazing. The french toast was delicious especially with a hint of orange. The maple syrup, however, was very liquidy and lack the maple flavor, which I found absurd. read more

Delicious wings, great drink prices, and cool staff

This place treated my girlfriend and I much better than a lot of the other places in the area, but aside from attentive service and great attitudes, it left little to be desired. The place is so tired, like many of the establishments in the area, but the food was inedible. There was some brown sauce on my vegetables that was so sour I only ate the steak (which had no flavor at all). We ordered pecan pie for dessert assuming it would be frozen and hard to mess up, however, the chef thought it needed a thick intricate pattern of white chocolate and chocolate in the shape of a spiderweb covering the entire plate. Close to our motel, arrived at 720pm for dinner we were seated and waited on in a timely manner. The server was pleasant, however forgot to ask what we would like to drink, and didn't inform us of the specials. We ordered apple bisque as an appetizer it was lukewarm when arrived, and resembled a creamy apple pie in taste,salad was very good however. Started our order at 725pm and the appetizer and salads came at 745pm. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel and she ordered forever wild with shrimp. Our entrees arrived at 0800pm, our entrees we warm not hot, on the Jagerschnitzel the Brussel sprouts could have been cooked a little longer, potatoes and tomatoes we nicely cooked the pork was average in taste not much in seasoning. The forever wild was warm very little if any pesto , shrimp was plumb and tasty. Didn't order any dessert no room, atmosphere was nice, little on the chilly side. read more

Generations offers a wonderful view with a menu that doesn't live up to the portrayed atmosphere. The menu was mediocre and standard. The group we brought in had one plate that was forgotten altogether. No apologies were offered. Service was basic and slow to a medium pace. It took an hour for the fog often plate to arrive, so forget the medium pace mentioned earlier, it was downright slow. Lake Placid offers a lot of competition for your dining dollar. Do yourself a favor. Spend it elsewhere. read more

However a table next to us who had a different waiter had multiple specials. Oh had to get our own silverware from another table. Waiter came gave us water and one drink. ok so I will start by saying the food was pretty good. Got eggs over easy that were cooked to perfection. Yet, it took us 30 minutes to get seated because they didn't have tables set up. once we were seated it took about 10 minutes for the waitress to come and ask us about drinks. We finally put in our order after sitting for 15 minutes and it took us about 10 more minutes to get our drinks and then 35 minutes to get our food. mind you I was in a time crunch and this was not the best place to go. we walked in from the hotel where we stayed " Golden Arrow" we walked through the upper dining room with about 10 empty tables. when we asked to be seated "upstairs" we were told that there are currently no tables free..?? we waited 15 min and then were seated on one of the 10 empty tables. my dinner was ..ok trout with mashed potatoes and veggies. my friends dinner ..sirloin steak was good...my wife had the Schnitzel and it was pretty nasty.. not so much the schnitzel but the demi glaze tasted like someone mixed it up with a 5 year old chemisty set... very fake taste.. like fresh out of the tube... but when you scraped off that nasty sauce you could eat it.... the place has a nice touch to it, the staff ( except the head waiter ) is pretty friendly and are trying to make your stay pleasant... Great food and great service. They go out of their way to take care of you. They had a farm tour specials that were wonderful. The little extra price is worth it for fresh ingredients and wonderful atmosphere. I have made this place a regular stop for breakfast or dinner. read more

Can't beat the happy hour special 10 wings and any draft for 10 bucks and the happy hour is 3-7 even on Saturdays that's awesome wings weren't bad but not the best I've ever had bit we had two. We had breakfast here on a Wednesday. The food was excellent, my wife and I had omelets and my son had French toast. The portions are large, the atmosphere is nice; if you sit upstairs you can see mirror lake. If we had any complaints it would be that the service was a tad slow and unresponsive.
