In Robert Paul Contracting, I've found a contractor who is both incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with before, during and after projects. I am incredibly thankful for Bob and his team and cannot recommend them high enough.

Bobby, the owner, failed to complete the project, walking away after months of delays and only about two thirds of the work done, having paid him over 85% of the quoted amount. He has refused to pay us back for the incomplete work. We were forced to hire another contractor to repair low quality work and to complete the work that Bobby failed to finish. Our experience started off well. Bobby was very responsive and seemed confident in what he was doing. However, after multiple incidents and mistakes, both small and large, it was clear that Bobby was more concerned about covering himself than making things right. He was dishonest with us about the costs of our countertops, he completely mismeasured our kitchen which caused a huge error and delay in our cabinets and he refused to meet with us to discuss these issues. His paint job was of such low quality that we had to pay to have the entire house repainted. Overall, his conduct was beyond unprofessional and borderline illegal. It all culminated when he quit on our job, mid-project, walking off with money for poor quality work and for services not yet rendered. When hiring a contractor, it is important you get someone you can trust. Unfortunately, Bobby failed that test.

On July 16 2025 I noticed a small discolored area on the drywall above the door entering my…read moredownstairs study. As I had a contractor at the house working on a project, I asked him to look at it, and when he felt the area he said it appeared to be damp. He suggested cutting the ceiling sheetrock to investigate, and when he did we found the area between the lower and upper levels of the house to be wet, with excessive moisture and the presence of a "suspicious growth". I called my State Farm agent immediately, and he called Spangler Restoration and asked them to come for an inspection. They arrived within hours, and quickly assessed the situation as excessive condensation from the metal HVAC ductwork. As Jason Gomez of Spangler explained it, the combination of the excessive heat and humidity following Tropical Storm Chantal nine days earlier, and the higher efficiency of our recently installed heat pump, resulted in the ducts "sweating" excessively. This had caused much of the insulation to literally fall off of the ductwork, exposing it completely to the hot and damp air and thus causing the condensation we discovered. Jason immediately detailed a program to stop the condensation, dry the area completely, replace any damaged drywall, and treat for any microbial growth. He estimated the cost and time necessary to complete the project on the spot, and explained every part of my predicament in clear terms and with a genuinely compassionate demeanor. Now unfortunately State Farm has denied my claim, saying that the issue had been going on "for some time" (even though Spangler and 2 other contractors assured me that the issue followed Chantal). Though I'm contesting State Farm's decision, I just assumed that Spangler Restoration was out of the picture and that I was on my own. But the day our claim was denied Jason Gomez called to check on our situation, of his own volition. He was genuinely sorry about the claim decision, and immediately started brainstorming as to how he might help us navigate through the cleanup using contractors we already knew and had worked with before. He said Spangler would take care of any mold remediation and would supply equipment to thoroughly dry and dehumidify the area as well. Essentially, he volunteered to be project manager of our plight, and did so for what I consider to be an exceptionally reasonable fee. And he was quick about it: his mold people start today: 4 days after State Farm denied our claim. God forbid we have another mess like this on our hands, but if we do I won't hesitate to call Spangler Restoration immediately. They're not only experts at what they do, they're efficient, timely, honest, and most important compassionate with folks who are faced with an unexpected plight they can't fix on their own. I'd give Spangler 10 stars if I could!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHYSTER!! Once a sale and installation…read moreis completed; expect NO technical support, service, or assistance from Turners Underseal. We purchased our Santa Fe compact70 dehumidifier system in December 2020 which included the complete system installation w/ductwork, a new white barrier on the crawlspace floor, and sealing the crawlspace vents. in December of 2020 for $8600.00 During his sales visit, Chris Turner showed off a colorful pamphlet demonstrating the benefits of having a crawlspace dehumidifier. Chris showed that the floor and walls of our home DIDN'T NEED TO BE COMPLETELY SEALED claiming this allows for the "vapor pressure and water" to be expelled via a drain hose from the dehumidifier. Along with the installation, there would be yearly maintenance to the unit for about $250 plus a $150.00 filter replacement. In April of 2024, we noticed the humidity level of our crawlspace was more than 68% we initiated a yearly maintenance and service call. The technician arrived and began his service, the technician notified me that the coil of the dehumidifier was "frozen" and he had no idea what was causing the issue. After contacting his supervisor and requesting warranty support and contacting Chris Turner it took 2 months for Chris to tell me that my only recourse was to contact the dehumidifier's manufacturer. Since the actual Turners Underseal technician knew absolutely NOTHING about how a dehumidifier or HVAC system operated he was completely useless in servicing my unit and left everything to me. I contacted the company that services our 2 AC systems, my HVAC technician said the system couldn't be repaired due to how it was built. (No coolant service ports to recharge the dehumidifiers. I contacted Therma-Stor and was informed our unit has just come off the complete replacement warranty in December 2023. I ended up paying $455.00 + tax and a new unit installation cost ($200.00). Speaking with the Therma-Stor technical support person I was informed that Therma-Stor RECOMMENDS the crawlspace be completely sealed. In addition to this revelation is the fact that the system filter that Turners Underseal replaces each year and charges $150.00 is available on Amazon for $35.00 each. My HVAC technician informed me they also installed Santa Fe brand dehumidifiers and the original installation cost with a complete crawlspace sealed would have been less than one-half the cost I incurred with Turners Underseal. In my opinion, Turners Underseal is not a reputable distributor of Santa Fe dehumidifier systems, has untrained maintenance technicians, and the moment you require actual repair service they will leave you to your own devices. Before choosing Turners Underseal check with your local HVAC sales, service, and install teams and save yourself time and aggravation.

Yesterday an inspector found new microbial growth and lots of moisture, and he said the dehumidifier is undersized and not ducted properly. Now we have to fork out thousands again.
