My main complaint, the sales person promised the crews would be clean and put tarps down to catch 100% of the debris, and we wouldn't even be able to tell they'd been here. Now we're four months past the install and we are still picking up bits of shingle, tar paper, plastic, and most egregiously, ROOFING NAILS in the yard nearly every SINGLE time we do yard work. In the first two weeks we picked up over a hundred nails from the yard and DRIVEWAY (come on, now!). We seriously found two more yesterday and two more today. It's NEVER ENDING. With the sales guy's suggestion we had them put in wide mouth gutter drains to help with the constant gutter clogging problems -- so what do they do? First they installed them wrong (oversized drains with standard drain holes does no good), so I printed out and handed the project manager installation instructions from the manufacturer. They came back out to redo it, but contrary to those instructions they used a ton of caulk, and also put caulk on every joint. Guess what gutter debris does when it hits a caulk. We also had them do some siding repair and had to be extremely specific about what we wanted them to do vs asking "replace anything that's rotting" which I would expect to be a reasonable request. I expected SO much more from a family company this old and established. Sadly, NOT recommended.

They built a fence for a neighbor's house that blocks the view of oncoming traffic. I called him and explained the issue, and he was completely dismissive, saying that he only works for the customer and it's too bad if the rest of us (over 100 cars per day) can't see around the corner. I had to follow up with the city, who determined that the fence was not built according to the permit. American Heritage still hasn't addressed the issue, but when they do, I'm curious whether they will do so at their own expense or whether they'll charge the neighbors extra to move the fence. Either way, I would never hire this company to build a fence for me.

Their personalities made it actually nice to have them around and working on my home. If you have a question, they stop what their doing, follow you, and listen intently with a true response. They even took extra care to help me and be certain my wood blinds would fit the new windows. Extra trim required, Not a problem. I have however, called, had an estimate appointment with Mr. Wrenn himself. He was very kind, informative and efficient, having spent over 1 hour at our home. He told us that he would have an estimate for us ready on Tuesday, which was 6 days after his visit. Those 6 days passed, and we received an email stating that they had some complications with their business and would be a bit longer than expected. We were okay with that. 4 days later, (now 10 from the date of estimate appointment) another email stating delay. Fine, now it's frustrating. Now, 16 days later...we received an email saying they cannot deliver an estimate for our job in a timely manner and are passing on giving an estimate. I guess they don't want our business, this is very disappointing.
