Had a deal and approved for a mini van was told to be there at a certain time to sign everything and make sure we had our insurance. We were driving down to Sacramento from Redding. Last min they said we weren't approved because the lender said it was too many miles and tried to get us to look at a different vehicle that was literally the same amount in cost and only a 500 mile difference which made no sense. My son bought a Kia Sorrento from this dealership in January we have had the kia for less than 6 months. Due to the Dealership not service the recalls this Kia was sold to my son by this dealership, in which the engine caught on fire in less than 6 months. I took it to the Kia dealership, and they told me it had 4 safety recalls and a engine replacement recall. My husband and I drove a long way to look at a car at this dealership. I called ahead to make sure the vehicle was still there before we left, and the gentleman on the phone said he would hold it for us even if someone came to look at it while we traveled. I appreciated that, though we still would have made the trip, since there were several similar vehicles we planned to look at while we were in the area. When we arrived, we were greeted kindly by Mohammad. We told him what car we were interested in and he immediately went to get the keys. He answered all of our questions and was honest with me when I asked about what inspections they did on the cars when they acquired them. He told us the vehicle would need an oil change if we bought it. He didn't "hover" while we examined the car, but was available. When we returned from the test drive, he gave us time to discuss things without pressuring us or acting impatient. We decided to crunch numbers. We had an exact figure that we did not want to exceed and Mohammad made it work. We happily purchased the car. The paperwork process was simple enough and did not take overlong. Conversation with both Mohammad and Jim was pleasant and, despite another woman's impression, there was absolutely no overt or subtle sexism. I think some folks are too eager to cry "ism's" when they don't like someone. We drove the new-to-us car home over 200 miles and it drove like a dream. So far we have been very pleased and would not hesitate to buy a car from General Auto Sales again. If we do have an issue, I will certainly update this review. Update 9-10-18 I didn't update when it happened, but there was a mix-up with our pink slip. We paid cash but received a registration that said a lien holder owned the pink slip. One call to Mohammad and the issue was fixed. We received the proper registration and the actual pink slip within a few weeks. The vehicle is still serving us well, with minimal repairs along the way, nothing unexpected in buying a used car. He held the car for us for 24 hours while we discussed the purchase. He was quick to respond to questions even via text. Melinda helped with the final paperwork and she was very thoughtful through the final process. He stayed flexible with his schedule. My husband traded in his old car and bought a new one here. The workers were very nice while we were looking/test driving. We found one we liked and started negotiating. We couldn't come to an agreement, so we left. A couple days later, my husband couldn't stop thinking about this car. So we went back and did a little more negotiating and we ended up buying. We are out of state residents (military), so we wanted to register the car in our home state. Muhammad told us we would have the title in 7-10 days. We waited a month and never got the title. We called multiple times and we never got a straight answer. Finally almost two months later, we are just now getting the title... and my husband's name is spelled wrong. Also, the title states that the fees were paid and the paperwork was filed over a month after we bought our car. So Muhammad lied when he said we would have it in 7 to 10 days, because he never even did the work. Now we have to pay extra fees in our home state because we weren't able to register it in the 45 day time frame. Thanks General Auto Sales, you really know how to keep a customer. RACIST WOMANIZING ESTABLISHMENT This review is not a reflection of the car itself. This is a review about my experience as a middle class working woman at this dealership. I was not financing a car and I am a white female. I want to go ahead and put all of this on the table so you understand the complete experience. The older man that showed us a 2005 Honda Civic was like any other sales person for the most part. Even though I introduced myself he never referred to me by my name or hardly talked to me directly. I was always referred to as "the wife". ( I am a person and I did give you my name) My husband and I make the same amount of money, I am educated and work at a law firm. We were purchasing this car together, but the sexism just kept coming. When we went on a test drive for some reason he decided it was appropriate to bring up his political views. he is a Trump supporter. Maybe he thought we would agree with his views because my husband and I are both white and middle class. Anyway not the case. I said I didn't want to talk about politics and was ignored but in the end I found out where my money would have gone if we would have purchased the car. It would have gone to a racist womanizing establishment. The kind of racism that thinks its okay to say " Trump is going to round them (minorities) up and ship'em out" I made it clear that those minorities he is referring to are my friends, my neighbors, my coworkers. Worst experience at a dealership I have ever had. My blood was boiling and I waited in the car while my husband went to talk to him before I had a chance to tell my husband there is no way I would be giving this guy our money no matter the price of the car. This was one of the best experiences I have had at a car dealership. I found about it online and called to follow up with the details and price of the keep I bought there. They weren't trying to push me into something I did not want. They really just wanted to make sure I was happy with my choice and worked with me on my down payment. They have really good financing for all types of credit. They have all types of cars and trucks, so you will be able to find a car of your choice. Beware! If you are knowledgeable about what you are looking for and talking about then stay away. They buy cars from the auction, check the breaks and oil and slap a sticker price on the windshield that is non negotiable while knowing nothing about the cars previous history or what certain functions of the car do! While test driving the vehicle i quizzed him on what things do and his answer was, "honestly, i really don't know much about the vehicle." He didn't want to move on the price and claims all his cars come with a three month warranty that is included with every vehicle, yet two weeks after buying the car it starts randomly shutting off. I take it to him and he dodges the "three month warranty" and say's, " sorry, as is". He harassed me the next day because he forgot to ask me to bring in a paper for the paper work and continuously started texting my personal phone number about it. I called and told him i'm at work i will bring it by when i am on lunch and he says he needs it now and continuously texts me. VERY inappropriate. I'm not writing this to slander or keep him from business, because according to him "if i don't like the price he will find someone else to buy it". BUYERS BEWARE!!! The owner Mohammed and his assistant Jim are your typical use salesmen people. I bought my 2011 Hyundai Elantra 3 months ago from their used dealership. Mohammed informed me that the car had an 3 month warranty and he would cover anything within that time frame that went wrong with the car. The first night as I'm driving home the tire pressure light came on. Not a big deal I will put air in the tires however once I did one week later the tire pressure light came back on meaning the car needs new tires on it! Which is a major expense! No I wasn't happy about that but that's something that I should have notice at the time of purchase and negotiated the price. I also got a flat a days later from those bad tires .Second, a month later my airbag light came on.That is a major safety hazard. 3rd, After taking the car to get a oil change the mechanic informed me that my brake lights has some malfunctions and that they did not come on. (Another safely hazard) May I also add the oil and the brakes on the car needs to be changed immediately. Something Jim and Mohamed should have done before selling me the car or at least let me know that the oil and the brakes on the car needed to be done. 4th, my car has navigation system in it. Which is a major reason why I bought the car. A little over a week ago the screen started blacking out. At this point I decided that I needed to go see Muhammad in person and let him know about the features on the car. Of course he was not in. Only Jim was there. He did not bother to even come outside and take a look at the features that I was explaining to him about. He immediately started to say "Well when did we sell you the car? & I don't think that's covered under warranty etc,etc,etc. He immediately trying to dodge the bullet of any responsibility on the car. His response was everything was working when it left here. He also stated that everything I was experiencing was electrical and no car dealership with warrant electrical problem. Now don't get me wrong I do understand that I bought a car from a used dealership but three months later after the fact I should not be experiencing electrical problems. I can no longer use my navigation in my car because my screen is black. My airbag light is still on and I was hoping to use my car to gain some extra money with Uber. However I cannot do such until I get the airbag light off. I managed to fix my own brake lights in the back which was an extra cost to me. And I'm now currently working on putting new brakes. I'm just very upset because I trusted them with my business and they just disregarded their 3 month warranty. They lied. Period Blank. I feel as if they could have taken a look at my car and see what they can do about it. Text instead of immediately disassociate their self with me and the car that they sold me. To me theses are red flags that they know they are selling bad cars. Byers also be aware that Muhammad will be there any given day of the week to sell you a car however when you go back he will be like a ghost in the night if you ever have an issue with your car and you will have to speak with Jim and he will acts stupid like he doesn't know anything. In addition I do have a tracker on my car .Muhammad had not informed me that if I chose to buy a car from his car dealership that I would have a Tracker placed in my car .
