This place was super cool. I went here for a digital marketing class. It's located in Ponce City Market on the West side of the building near West Elm. Parking is via the ParkMobile app and is $2 per hour. There is a massive amount of classrooms and what appears to be co-working spaces. WiFi is free and plentiful. I have been to General Assembly Atlanta two times now for different workshops and cannot be more impressed with the business, location, accessibility, setup, and overall operations. The first workshop I attended was an intro to Adobe Illustrator. We had people of many different professional backgrounds in attendance. Although the class was beginner, they also answered the questions of those with a little more experience. When the presenter did not know the answer, the group may have chimed in to help. (Did I ever mention I love Atlanta) The most recent workshop I attended was the Transferable Skills workshop led by Nita Penn. This session was amazing! It was interactive, relevant, high energy, and applicable to our everyday lives. Nita was well prepared, fun, energetic, and inspiring. A lot of times we take workshops that work on our hard skills and it was nice that General Assembly scheduled something to help us learn about soft skills and how they can be transferable and applicable in various situations. I hope to see Nita continue to lead workshops at this location. I can guarantee that as she starts doing more workshops on various topics I will for sure be there with my friends! I am looking forward to building my personal and professional portfolio and am thankful for the opportunities that General Assembly is providing at such a reasonable cost. read more

I have been a fan of General Assembly Atlanta since they made their home at Ponce City Market. General Assembly Atlanta is the place to come if you are starting a business or want to learn about coding, design and digital marketing. The people who work there were very nice and pleasant. This is a good workspace to study and work in. They offer a variety of classes daily and weekly. I am creating a blog and came here for the Getting to Know Wordpress course. The course was taught by Judi Knight of New Tricks and it was a very informative course, even though I wish there was some type of handout or guide to follow along with her. If you are interested in starting a business, this is the place to come to. There are many opportunities for growth and development here. General Assembly is the school you've always wanted to go to. I graduated college 2 years ago and have been yearning to learn again. I found general assembly by way of a Facebook Ad, and this is the first time i'm not upset about seeing an ad in my face. GA is located on the second floor of Ponce City Market. PCM is a super cool, brand new, hipster shopping mall in Old Fourth Ward and General Assembly adds to PCM's list of great offerings. They offered a free 2hr intro to Digital Marketing class. It was taught by a young, but still very knowledgable, professor who made the class very relatable. GA seems to be a great place for continuing your education in multiple different subjects. Things to note: PCM does not have free parking. GA is located in the corner of the second floor and is kind of hard to find; look behind Citizens Supply. Try to arrive early as the classes to fill up. Come ready to learn because the professors are clearly ready to teach! read more

I took the Web Development Immersive course at General Assembly and was (and still am) incredibly happy with my decision. Having no prior web development experience (I was a middle school math and science teacher), I was worried about whether I could really complete a 12 week course and actually come out of it employable. I'm here to say that YES it is possible - I got a software engineering job that I love within a month of finishing the course. I had three intelligent, expert instructors who were absolutely committed to my success. Don't get me wrong, it takes a lot of persistence and determination, but if you're the type of person who loves to solve problems and are energized by being creative and analytical, this would probably be a good fit. Besides being a great place to learn, I also really appreciate the network and connections that I was exposed to at GA. Throughout the course we had weekly "Lunch and Learns" where various industry professionals came in to share their expertise, we had a "field trip" to Atlanta Tech Village, attended local meetups, and got to know many people in the Atlanta tech community. Bottom line, General Assembly is awesome and you should check them out. read more

Solid instructors. Nice staff. Fun atmosphere. My instructors had a strong command of their craft and genuinely enjoyed teaching and mentoring students. They were always willing to help and guide us, and they regularly stayed late (especially during project weeks) because they cared about us and were invested in our success. I learned useful skills, met cool people, and made a lot of friends. I believe all 9 of the students in my class got web development jobs within two months of graduating. Being the first cohort in Atlanta, there were a few growing pains as you might expect for any business, which is the reason my rating 1 short of 5 stars. Overall, General Assembly is a very solid company, which I would recommend if you are looking to pursue a career in web development. read more

I began my career working in political communications. Over the past five years I managed and taught public figures to navigate new and old media. As someone who loves to learn I had toyed with taking some courses to level up my design skills. After a lot of research and conversations with friends in the industry, I decided to check out General Assembly. I had been interested in formalizing my user experience skill set and their ten week UXDi program was an ideal fit. The course is considered an "immersive," and that is an understatement. I pulled a number of all-nighters to get work accomplished, but that's what is necessary. I feel I packed in ten weeks what would have taken four years to learn on my own. Beyond the course, the space, management and events are great. Almost every Friday there is a happy hour open to the public. Many of Atlanta's great meetups take place throughout the week, and there is always an interesting course being taught. General Assembly is a great spot to learn and meet like minded tech people. I first got hooked on General Assembly when I took the "Brand In a Day" workshop in January. The workshop was very engaging and I gained the knowledge to build the foundation of a strong brand. The workshop was full of people from diverse backgrounds and careers, which led to some really great brainstorming and idea sharing. Later this year, I took the part-time Digital Marketing course with Uloopi Fales. Not only is Uloopi totally awesome, she is incredibly knowledgeable and kept class engaging. At the end of my course, I had built a full-scale Digital Marketing plan for the NPO I worked for, that was rooted on the principles and strategies we learned in class. The GA staff and TA's are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and really make being a part of the GA community awesome. From the workshops and courses to the happy hours and special events, GA is strong community that I am so grateful to be a part of. read more

I went through their Part-Time Digital Marketing Course this year at GA and on top of the invaluable knowledge that I received, the biggest gain has been the community. Being a part of the community at GA has led to a number of opportunities that have allowed me to quit my job and run my business in digital marketing full-time. I also love the fact that I'm able to reach out to a network of reliable UX Designers, Developers, Data Scientists, etc. whenever I need without the usual sifting through sites like Thumbtack and Upwork. Great for conference and Education and start up education for tech.

I only do online reviews when I've had an abysmal or excellent experience with a business. I'm happy to say that the latter is true in this case. I recently completed the WDI course. Prior to GA, I was an electronics and IT technician. I'm very happy about my decision to enroll. The instructors care about their students' learning and are always willing to provide one-on-one help. The course producers are always open to feedback and they are always willing to go the extra mile for students. Within a day of graduation, I had a job offer. Some of my classmates got jobs before the course was over, and some have done paid freelance work. While it's true that anyone with the interest and drive can successfully complete the course, I will say that I'm glad that I had some prior experience before I started the course. For the sake of full disclosure, that experience involved a year of self-teaching via online tutorials, personal projects, some coding at a prior employer, and a community college course on XHTML and CSS 5 years ago. Without that background, I think the course would have been a lot harder for me. The only negative I encountered was that sometimes things seemed a little disorganized and it can be hard to work on campus when events are going on. read more

I've attended an event that rented this space and a class here. The event was quite nice, though I wish the speakers had worked a little more on the sound levels as some were too quiet. Didn't get to try the catering. The classroom was a good space, and it was fun to get lunch at Ponce City Market with the other students. The management is also very helpful. That particular class didn't work out for me, but I would take another class here. read more

GA is located on the second floor of Ponce City Market above the Food Hall. It was super easy to check in for the workshops that I have attended here. I have taken two so far and really enjoyed both. The first workshop I took was right up my alley with a fun but informative lecturer who had some great slides that he sent us a link to after the class. The second workshop I took was a little bit above my scope of knowledge but the lecturer was super chill and sent us a link to his slides as well. He even offered to schedule time after the workshop if we needed a little bit more help. I would definitely attend more workshops here and bring a friend or coworker. read more

So disappointed in GA Atlanta! I came in from out of town to attend my first GA Atlanta class. I called and emailed for help & directions before my class & wasn't able to reach anyone in the office. Also left an unreturned voicemail. I ended up missing the class due to traffic, and of course, wasn't able to reach anyone to give the message then, either. I looked at several code schools when I decided to take a career pivot and was impressed with General Assembly GA (even before they moved into their beautiful new offices) because they looked at the local market needs and developed the curriculum, instructors were very smart with great experience and the support team -- from coffee and snacks to help interview advice and everything in between was great. As an alumni I still sometimes meet at the GA offices and attend meetups and other events. GA has become such a part of the community - from hosting many different meetups to speakers and workshops on a wide range of topics. read more
