The group's unique and colorful murals can be found around the city, but mostly in downtown, Edgewood, Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown, and East Atlanta. I've also seen Living Walls on the BeltLine in Midtown and in Decatur. The art comes courtesy of some of the world's most talented street artists. This review is based mostly upon the Living Walls 2014 Main Event held at the Goat Farm last Saturday, August 16, 2014. As I understood it, the event was a five-year anniversary celebration of Living Walls and the public art the group has put forth in the city. What better venue than the Goat Farm Arts Center to showcase some ambitious and extraordinary installations. On-site parking was limited. Charges were assessed based on how many people were in each vehicle. Solo drivers paid $6, two people in a car paid $4, and three or more people in a car paid only $2. Way to promote carpooling. We parked at Westside Provisions District and walked over. There was a security checkpoint and donations were accepted at the door. A $5 per person donation was suggested. There was live music scheduled throughout the night (on two stages), but we missed the bands because we left before the shows started. I'm an engineer, not an artist. I'm not an artsy person and it can often times be difficult for me to fully appreciate art. However, I thought pieces/installations at the event were very cool. The stereo installation actually worked and played music. Very creative and original. Artists whose work was on display represented the following countries: USA, Spain, Italy, Peru, Germany, and Lithuania. The first workshop I attended was an intro to Adobe Illustrator. We had people of many different professional backgrounds in attendance. Although the class was beginner, they also answered the questions of those with a little more experience. When the presenter did not know the answer, the group may have chimed in to help. (Did I ever mention I love Atlanta) The most recent workshop I attended was the Transferable Skills workshop led by Nita Penn. This session was amazing! It was interactive, relevant, high energy, and applicable to our everyday lives. Nita was well prepared, fun, energetic, and inspiring. A lot of times we take workshops that work on our hard skills and it was nice that General Assembly scheduled something to help us learn about soft skills and how they can be transferable and applicable in various situations. I hope to see Nita continue to lead workshops at this location. I can guarantee that as she starts doing more workshops on various topics I will for sure be there with my friends! I am looking forward to building my personal and professional portfolio and am thankful for the opportunities that General Assembly is providing at such a reasonable cost.

While trying to get clarification, I had multiple teachers yell at me and refuse to explain things differently; they felt repeating the same instruction louder was sufficient. This school is hard enough without a brain that sees the world differently. Also, there is no elevator and no accessibility for anyone who is disabled. Those of us who are disabled and have divergent thinking, deserve equal education, too. Especially when it's $5000+ a quarter.

When my daughter moved to Eastpoint around 2014, the building that houses The ArtsXchange was merely a shuttered old elementary school. About a year later the ArtsXchange opened up and we went to an event for Mothers Day that was a local singer, performing for mothers and daughters in the local community. The first two pictures are from that. At the time my friend, Todd Mack was conducting youth music and composition workshops and camps to bridge communication and philosophical divides between the Faiths: Jewish, Muslim & Christian. It was/is Music In Common. I talked to the managers about his program and they put up the flyers and distributed to the community. My daughter moved. Tyler Perry Studios moved in at Fort McPherson and the neighborhood that once had gunfire at night and drug houses down the street began to transform. I had the opportunity to return to ArtsXchange recently for Music In Common's 20th anniversary celebration. I was delighted to see there were many local residents in attendance. In talking to them it was clear that the ArtsxChange had become a vibrant part of the fabric of the community --- for regular scheduled meetups, unique creative performances, classes and workshops, lectures, and so much more. The exterior has been painted with lovely murals. It brings a heartbeat to a community in transition. The drug houses and gunfire are gone. Residents are creatives working at Tyler Perry Studio, active retirees, and young families seeking to live in diverse neighborhoods. The location is convenient to downtown Atlanta and the airport. The food scene is on the rise. The people that operate ArtsXchange are very committed to making sure every visitor feels appreciated. It is a great place to host an event too.

We picked our seats and began to drink of course. The class had the opportunity to pick by vote which painting we wanted to do (3 options), which I thought was different but cool. The one we wanted to do (a guitar) didn't win the democratic vote and the bridge was selected. She individually came around and asked if we wanted to change the colors and everything. Our classmates were all super cool and friendly and it was so fun to be lost with everyone else. Slade did a great job of walking around to talk to us and see if we needed help! Her assistant was also superb at getting us more paint, paper towels, and/or fresh water. We were having trouble with mixing colors and he even offered to mix them in the back for us and bring to us. The whole vibe was great and chill. The music being played was perfect. At the end, you get the opportunity to sign the wall which is unique and cool. We had a really great time and would absolutely positively recommend and come back with friends! They offer party packages and certain days they even have themed nights like karaoke and etc. I should also mention that there's not a limit on how many bottles you bring and you can also bring little snacks like cheese and crackers, chips, etc. My only suggestion is that they clean the bathroom.

Going to college alone is just not enough to build a good book, in my opinion. And The Creative Circus is the place to be if you wanna go to portfolio school. (And have people constantly asking you, 'wait whaaat? where do you go to school?') I didn't just build a book there, though. I met some amazingly talented, super smart (so smart they're intimidating at times but also awesome) people, and made connections. People say your college friends are 'for life,' but honestly, my Circus friends are the ones I'll never forget. Plus, the people are really nice. Very low asshole population. We connected with the kids, we left the place with a renewed sense of hope and life, which comes from the kids.
