Our main course was a Combinagi platter of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Five types of fish were on this combo platter. Everything was tasty and terrific. You don't really order off a menu, they just start you off by asking about any dietary restrictions and then they just serve whatever they're serving. After that, the food comes out *quick*. Except for a couple of pauses in the action, the courses are brought out almost on top of each other. I wouldn't say that this place is a Japanese place. It's more Japanese fusion. They start you off with plates of sushi and sashimi, but it eventually started to include dishes like fried boar, a collection of ceviches, and (post-meal) they offer a Brazilian favorite - fried shrimp skewers. My personal favorites were the boar, smoked squid sashimi, the octopus ceviche, and the banana brulee desert; but all of the food they brought out was top notch. As of this writing, our meal came out to R$ 100/person, which is like $28. Hachiko is a tremendous bargain. It's located in downtown Rio and away from the tourist area, so I'd advise having someone there that is at least somewhat comfortable communicating in Portuguese.
