This place was quaint and charming. Set up like a traditional Japanese sushi bar where people sit…read moreall around one main area where the servers walk and the chefs work at one end. Service was wonderful, our server was kind and understanding that our portuguese was little. Missing for the photos is our mini chirashi bowls which were beautifully set and tasted incredible. Our meal also featured two miso soups in heavy stone bowls. The miso was one of the best I have ever had. The level of umami was perfect, there were scallions and asked if we preferred tofu or with tofu - I prefer without so I loved that they did this. We also ordered the fatty salmon belly that was topped with lemon zest. It elevated the level of fresh ness and gave the fish a wonderful citrus aroma. They gave us a yuzu dipping sauce with candied ginger, fried shallots and I forget what else but it was THE BEST. I have NEVER had a sauce presented to me like that before. It paired phenomenally with the fish. Next up the Shikoku oysters 6 on the half...wow amazing it had been months since I indulged myself into some oyster these were magnificent. Overall incredible meal, pricy to match the area but quality was above and beyond; I would come here again 1000% my only down fall was that they didn't have omakase and they didn't have many of the item on the menu- to which I was utterly surprised & disappointed hence 4 stars. Wish sushi spots in Rio had more variety of fish instead of the classic salmon, tuna and, tilapia. Definitely would recommend!

The decor is fairly chic (though the center tables are pretty boring). The place looks really cool…read moreand appears to have an authentic dry aging fridge for the fish (which first made me think this place would offer high quality and authentic food). They were sold out of absolutely everything (that you'd want to order anyway) when we came. None of the good cuts of fatty tuna, no toro, no churro, no sea urchin, etc. All of our first choices from the menu were unavailable, which they only let us know while we were ordering. They didn't even have wasabi (which they charge you for anyway), how on Earth does a Sushi restaurant run out of wasabi???How can they properly make any sushi without a key ingredient? From what they did have: the salmon belly, tamago, and scallop were just OK. The Kobe dumplings were not good at all, tasted like cheap meat. No way they're actually made with Kobe beef. Cocktails were decent though, and a bit boozy. Prices were OK for the neighborhood. Might've been 2/5 but I'm guessing I caught them on a bad day, and I'm inclined towards generosity.
