I came here because of the other positive Yelp reviews. The atmosphere is great here. Great decor, and very clean. The staff was so helpful. I brought my 5 year old and they were very accommodating. I got a regular mani pedi and they did a fantastic job. My 5 year old was also cry pleased! Very large selection of Opi and Essie colors. This is a great local business and will be my new nail salon. I really love this nail shop. I went in for a pedi and gel manicure. The employees are professional and kind. They did a really good job. I really appreciated the fact that the nails techs wore name tags. That really helps because I like to call people by their names when addressing them. Gem nails is a wonderful, quality place to get your nails done. They are all wonderful, professional, and do a meticulous job with both manicures and pedicures. The staff are pleasant, some incredibly kind and nice. My last person, however, was a bit rude. I had a hang nail and she kept asking if I bite my nails. I do not, but even if I did I didn't need her insisting that I did! She went on and on about how she could tell that I bite my nails, when I kept saying I did not- they were just a bit dry. People, this was one hang nail. I'm sorry my nails were not perfect- but isn't that why I visit a salon? To get them a bit nicer? Sheesh! Oh, and another time I had a staff member tell me my arms were hairy (eye roll). Aside from these two experiences, I love the salon because they do an amazing job! The best part of this nail salon is that tell all speak and understand english. I hate when I go to a nail salon and no one understands me. They have a very clean and relaxing enviroment. The owners and staffs are very friendly and super nice. The prices are very reasonable as well. Easy parking access is another plus. I came here for a mani pedi due to all the favorable Yelp reviews. I did enjoy it but the woman doing my mani cut me deep enough that I bleed twice. The woman doing my pedi was great. I enjoyed that they didn't try to make small talk with me as I like to try to relax while getting my nails done. The place is clean and the owner was very nice. Price was average. I was in Gem nails today for mani and pedi.It wasn't my first time there. Last time I was happy with my pedi but today it wasn't good at all. The lady who was manicure for me put a very thick layer of nail lacquer so after 30 minutes of drying it it still didn't dry completely ((( so when I came home nail lacquer came off from the top of two nails and the manicure which I get wasn't look good at all. I have never written a review on Yelp but Gem Nails deserves one! So many things about this place put it about the rest! I was greeted very kindly upon entering the door and had my coat hung up for me. Very cute and clean inside. The pedicure consisted of a 5 minute leg massage and hot towel, which is more than I expected! Navy did a fantastic job. I was even given free pedicure socks to stay warm on this freezing day and a back massage! This is the best experience at a nail salon I have ever had. read more

I've been with this salon since last year. I usually like to do my pedicure with the the same girl and steady schedule every 2 weeks. I really like the girls I was with, but unfortunately since the beginning of this year something weird started happening. For last five times as soon as I entered the salon Mrs. Liz would inform me that the girl I'm scheduled with is not here and that maybe I should reschedule my appointment. I've been told I was called about it , I had no calls from the salon at all! Finally lately she called me in the evening the day before my appointment and informed me that girl I'm scheduled with is not going to be working and she's coming back next month! She asked Do you want to come?I said Yes of course this is my steady appointment. Well unfortunately she wasn't willing to schedule me not answering my questions . Finally she asked for how long I will talk to her??? Whaaat??????? I've never been treated by any salon this way!!!! In the end she accused me that I complain!!! I was tipping the girl $10 for regular pedicure and was told I had a special one!!! We had my daughter's 9th bday party here back in the fall and when I booked her party I was told it would be $25 per girl for a mani/pedi. During the party I was told one of the girls looked too old and it would be an extra $15 for her! How ridiculous and dishonest on their part. I typically would give this place 5 stars because every time I go, everything about the experience is beyond wonderful. However, this past week I stopped in to get a no chip manicure. Sue was the nail technician that did my nails. All was going well until she got out the cuticle clippers. She took a chunk of skin from one of cuticles out. The cut was so deep it took bit to get the bleeding to stop. She didn't even apologize. She was also very rough with the nail file - filing parts of my skin without even noticing. After my manicure was finished, I informed the man at the counter, I think his name is Young, about what happened. He walked me outside and told me he appreciated my feedback and walked back inside. I realize that mistakes happen and no one is perfect, but I think a discount of some sort should have been given to me. read more

Updated from a 5 star review to a 1 star review in less than a year. I have been scheduling manicures at Gem every 3 to 4 weeks for almost a year. My most recent visits were each worse than the previous one. Lesson learned. The manager/owner has done my nails multiple times, she is quick and efficient but also abrasive and rude. There is nothing relaxing about her manicures. On my most recent visit, which will also be my last, I had a reservation for myself and a friend. My friend waited 45 minutes for her manicure to begin and others in the salon were seated and waiting in pedicure chairs so long the water their feet were soaking in got cold and had to be refilled. After my first walk in appointment in December, 2016 I have always made a reservation, for the convenience of the salon staff and to make sure I don't wait. Little good it does you when they accept walk-ins and don't have enough staff to accommodate those with reservations. My friend's manicure was done by the manager and I was so embarrassed by the rude and rushed treatment she received that I will not be returning and would not recommend. read more

I went to get a no chip manicure on a Sunday and by Friday all my nails were peeling. When I came in the lady grace said that no chip lasts two weeks. When I showed her my nails she said these aren't chipped they are peeling.... I didn't know there was a difference. She then proceeded to rip off the nail polish off my finger nails and I multiple times told her it hurt and she should do it a different way. She was extremely rude and did not treat me the same way I was treated when I originally came to get my manicure. She didn't wash my hands and applied new nail polish with nail dust still on my fingers. I felt like I was totally wrong for coming to get my nails fixed. When I pointed out that another nail was also peeling that she didn't fixed she started talking in another language and made me feel like I'm lower than dirt. My nails did get fixed and they look pretty I just wish I wasn't treated like a criminal UPDATE: nails are peeling again. This time it was Friday to Tuesday. Changing my review to one star. This salon was formerly under different ownership and, while I did go there, I was never happy with the attitude of the owner and some of the nail techs there. Now, the atmosphere is much more friendly and the man, who appears to be the owner, is very accommodating and friendly. My nails turned out great, thanks to Zora, and my daughters enjoyed their manicures and a pedicure too. Their pedicure chairs are as comfy as ever and their prices are competitive with all of the other strip mall nail salons in the area. I will def go back! read more

Well, I used to love this place, but after today I will not be back. I made an appointment at 9 a.m. for a 3 p.m. mani/pedi with the stipulation my pedi be done first - I said it three times in the phone conversation. I arrived at 2:55 and was told my mani was first. When I insisted the pedicure be done first as requested, Liz the owner, did the pedicure, then manicure (no polish on my hands). She was rude, demeaning, and insulting throughout the entire procedure. I left with wet toe nails because she felt 10 minutes (the time for the no polish manicure) was long enough for them to be dry - no oil on the toes either. $40 plus tip - my money will be spent elsewhere!!!!!! My biggest complaint with the place is the staff constantly speaking to each in another language. I hate to give this place even one star!! I have been getting manicures and pedicures from different nail salons for years and this one definitely has the worst service! I am surprised to read the reviews that say this place has nice customer service. I have given this place 3 or 4 tries and every time, Liz seems rude and annoyed. The male owner is super nice, though. Each time I have gone, I feel like my manicures are rushed because they are busy and need to get to the next customer. I recently got a manicure from Liz and I think it seriously took her 10 minutes. She rushed and whipped my hands around just to finish quickly. She acted so annoyed the whole time. Well my world was rocked as I got my first nail fungus after a no chip manicure done at Gem Nails a few weeks ago with one follow up today to remove and have a regular manicure and pedicure to find out that I got a fungus under one nail after their no chip manicure polish was removed. Elizabeth at the salon, I beleive is the managers wife, was inconsistent with her information but assured me it is a fungus and not caused by them and not taking any responsibility for it, gee that may be why you have germ issues there!#! Liz actually talked out of 2 sides of her mouth and funny they gave me the remedy right away when I stated after years of treating my own nails and manicures here and there at the same places that I never had a single fungus until I met Gem Nails. I have managed 49 years without a fungus until my first visit to Gem Nails a few weeks ago and Elizabeth not taking any responsibility made a bad situation worse. I only hope they do not keep spreading the fungus and priding themselves on the remedy they sell right at their store, which she just gave me as I bypassed the nail polish and asked to get treatment and go. Also, I noticed their pedicure chairs of 20 months or so, as long as they have been open, are falling apart at the arm rests are discolored from Blue to brown, frayed and harboring more germs and with no way to clean and sanitize them totally. Not only will only I not be back to Gem Nails I will make sure people I know and care about won't go unless they want to deal with a possibility of getting nail fungus, have them blame others and have the manager and staff not take responsibility, maybe that is why they are spreading nail fungus to begin with. read more

Very clean, nice place, everyone is friendly. They accepted people right before they closed for the day so definitely accommodating. I give 3 stars because my gel nails started chipping less than a week after paying $35 for them and now (8 days later) 4 have chipped or peeled so much that I took them off. Definitely need to go get them re-done before this weekend which is an unexpected bother. My regular pedi ($25) is still going strong though and I'm happy with that! Still looking for a place that will last 2-3 weeks for gels. read more
