This is my new go to nail place!!! Where do I even begin? The service is excellent. Made an appointment ahead of time. Was seated as soon as I arrived. The interior is modern, chic, and spacious. Great for accomodating large parties, just be sure to book ahead of time rather than drop in. The nail polish selection is fantastic and so are the pedicure options. I thought the services offered were reasonably priced. Additionally, the drink I ordered during my appointment was made with liquor. I couldn't believe they offered top shelf alcohol as part of the appointment. Usually at these types of establishments they serve water or wine. My drink did not disappoint. It was fruity and delicious! The woman who did my pedicure did an excellent job. Her attention to detail was fantastic. The charcoal scrub was something I had never experienced before in a pedicure and I truly enjoyed it. I have become a lifelong customer for sure. I highly recommend this place! read more

Cat was really nice and pleasant and seemed to take pride in her work. However, this was only my second time going here and each time I was given a price when I walked in, but was charged something different when it was time to checkout. OMG, I have never in my life been charged for filing/shortening my nails during a fill. This has always been a part of the regular process at every nail salon I have ever gone to; So, they say they will give you a 20 percent discount, however with all of the up charges you are not really getting a discount. I like Cat, but I don't like the guy (I think he is the manager) who seemingly over charges for whatever and whenever he decides... after reading the menu/fees chart and him telling and giving me an amount before I sat down...what a rip off. Just needed a nail removal, but was charged 5 dollars extra because I didn't get my nails done at their salon? When I initially went inside she was asking me why my nail tech doesn't remove nails, I explained that it was because my nail tech charges $20 for a removal (which is why initially went to Gem Nail in the first place as their price lists removal at $10). So I think this is why she thought she could get away with charging me extra. There's a reason I go to independent nail techs now. They don't scam their customers like this. And when I called about what the extra $5 was for the receptionist lady was super rude about it and made up excuses that my nails were "thick" and that the powder used was not "salon grade". Even though I know for a fact it is. Also even if these things were true, I don't see how it matters, my nails soaked off in the same amount of time any nail set I've ever gotten has. These salons think they're better than everyone else and are desperately trying to keep their money up by scamming people cause independent nail techs are starting to become more popular. Just because you have some competition now doesn't mean you can keep business by scamming people! Anyways, I did like this place at first and was planning to make it my regular pedicure place, but after this experience I just can't trust them to charge me correctly according to their OWN PRICES. 3 stars because the service is excellent but the quality of the products are horrible. The service is amazing! They're very kind and the complimentary drink is a nice touch. I do not recommend coming here if you want your nails to look amazing. After 5 days of getting a gel nail manicure, I noticed black specks appearing on my nails and starting to crack. I was very upset about it and they were kind enough to get them fixed for free. After 2 hours of getting them done for the 2nd time, those little black specks started to appear again. Service is great but the quality of the products that they use are terrible. This business would be great if they had better products. This place is awesome! Super clean and super fun. This place has a stocked bar and a huge collection of colors whether it's regular polish, dip colors, or gel colors. Christina is greaaaaat. You can ask for her for acrylics or dip or gels. Tanya can do pedicures and gel manicures really well. They also have a really clean restroom and a clean facility. I definitely recommend this place for people who are very specific and meticulous with their nails. Most of the people here speak great English and they take their time really trying to take care of you. I just moved to this area so this is one of the few places I tried out and really enjoyed. Also they are tied with the next door dental and vision Dreamworks place, so if you go next door and here they have some sort of discount. Also you must try their margaritas!! It is the bomb.com. OMG! Holy crap! Let me start by saying they are super friendly, the work was great! This review is based on my nail art and the cost!!! I went in asking for floral nail art and showed lots of pictures of what I liked. The technician Linda showed me a picture which surprisingly to me I liked. I asked her if that was her work she said yes. OK I said...Don't get me wrong it turned out ok. Definately not like rhe pick. I had to ask for the dark center and for the center to come from the center not from behind... She had done one practice one in a different color which we didn't go with. She was going to leave that one there... huh?! I had her fix it... now comes to the real craziness.. I go to pay they bill $90 what the what!! Apparently my natural color that I've done for 30 yrs here is considered a color. Thier normal is clear so my $20 full set went to $45oh a nd because they put a tip on and didn't use my natural nail another $5. And here is the kicker.... charged me another $40 for my nail art..... A bit upset cause I know they usually always do a good job....but this time I feel a little cheated. I came home and realized why my finger was stinging and realized that my nail tech had filed into my skin. Not to mention I also noticed that the buff marks showed on my nails and I'm not sure if it's because she did the gel coat (with the UV to set it) or not. It's not my usual routine when I ask for dip..... There was a lot of color left on my fingers and my cuticles and it's kind of hard for me to pick it off. I also usually get my nails underneath buffed out to get rid of any residual gel etc. but that wasn't done today either. So, m normal nail tech, Kelly, was booked when tried to get my nails done today. Luckily, Ann was available. When I say luckily, I mean I was super lucky. Don't misunderstand, all the Gem Nail techs are amazing, but Ann was super amazing. Not only was she kind and pleasant to talk to, but she was able to do exactly what I asked her to do. When this place opened a few years ago it was fabulous and the modern touches were divine. My husband usually goes for pedicures and is always happy with his service. I go to a new place closer to our home. We went together the other day to Gem and it will be the last time I go there. The place was so dirty and the customer service was nonexistent from front desk or manager. The tech said he could get us water or soda. The bar menu would have to be from the manager. She never came out of the back and my husband never did get a drink. There are just too many other nicer nail salons to go back to this one. I have come to Gem many times, and usually love the services and all of the nail technicians (normally would give 5/5 stars). Stay away from "Newton" (the name on my receipt). I new the pedicure was going to be a struggle when he could barely cut my nails - it was like he didn't know how to hold the clippers and kept forcing my toes to bend. So now a handful of my nails are jagged, and the ones that aren't are way shorter than I asked for. Then he was cleaning my cuticles and punctured my toe. Seemed to be trying to hide it from me too even though I definitely felt it and could tell it was bleeding. After all of that, he painted my nails, and got paint all around the toes (at least he tried to clean it off). Somehow he still left blank spots on the edges of my toes. So moral of the story, you'll have great service if you have anyone but him. read more

I came in on a Thursday and nobody was in the salon so I thought maybe I'll get GREAT service. Ann, my nail tech was a little rough after I old her over and over my nails are sensitive. She also cut my cuticles and they bleed hours later as you can see in the pics. I said ouch each time but was ignored. I asked if she could fix a couple nails and why was there a few spots on the nail, she said "the dip did that, I can't fix." All my nails have zero dip on the corners. Not one. The dip is suppose to go to all corners. She also filed my nails into round shape and made them even shorter than I wanted. I asked for them square. I also have huge gaps on my thumbs and it looks grown out. I came in for a special occasion and my nails now look horrible. I called the next day and the "manager" who answers the phone and greets customers would not give me her name. She said "I don't have to give you my name." She would not refund me even after I explained the reasons why I'm unhappy. She said come in and we fix it. But how????? They are soooooooo short and I'm in pain because I have wounds on my cuticles where Ann drilled them. How can this be fixed???? It can't. read more

Update: I was contacted by someone from the salon and my nails were redone. I had Vanessa do my nails and she was so great. She was sweet, personable, and did a great job! Almost a week later and my gel nails are just starting to lift but my chip and I changed the brake pads and rotors on a car so they are definitely withstanding a lot! Still 3 stars because the manicure itself still sucked the first time but polish was acceptable and Vanessa was great! Update: after paying $35 for gel nails and crappy manicure, my nail chipped 2 days after getting it done without any rigorous activity, washing dishes, etc. just chipped out of nowhere. Crappy quality of Very lacking experience. Took my fiancé's 10 year old sister there so we could get our nails done together. The lady that greeted us when we walked in was nice but other than that it was awkward. The nail techs never smiled or said a word to us and one couldn't speak enough English to ask what color we wanted. The nail tech made my fiancé's sister bleed and then poured alcohol right on top of it! They also didn't have the color she wanted and she was rushed to pick a new color she didn't like. They barely put any lotion on and didn't massage at all and we paid for the Crystal manicure. The color selection was also limited. Very unhappy and will not return! read more

They also don't have a lot of staff to do full sets/ when you need to get both hands and feet done. Honestly, I've gone to so many different nail shops in the metroplex but I'm finally pleased to say I found the shop I love and the nail tech I always want. (Steven, he is THE BEST) The place is super cute, has a nice clean modern chic feel to it. Everybody is super welcoming and friendly, staff is very professional. They do offer you a complementary drink, (non-alcoholic and for those who do enjoy alcohol has a nice bar.) The prices are a wee-bit higher than your average shop, but you're getting good quality business and not a half-assed job, so it's definitely worth it. The owner of salon was super friendly however the tech , an older lady, that did my manicure sucked to say the least. Her attitude wasn't friendly and she messed up on the dip (smeared it) AND BLAMED ME. First of all my hands & fingers were held still. You're the one handling my hands/fingers.
