It has been awhile since I have written a review about this place. I been going to this place for years. I had originally scheduled for April 1st to get my underarm and brazilian done. Guess I got my dates mixed up and arrived today, 1 week early. Jaime, the owner was avaliable and was able to fit me in despite my own date mix up. Jaime was able to get my underarm and brazilian done quick and somewhat painlessly. Dont get me wrong guys, you still do get some pain when doing a brazilian. However, Jaime was able to make it A LOT less painful. I had a few people ask me why I continued to do this over the past few years. To be honest, its to stay clean and it helps minimize body odor and to keep from getting swampy in the heat! If you are going to try to get rid of the hairs for the first time, its going to hurt regardless who does it. I would recommend Jaime do it for you to minimize that painful experience. I went here Saturday to get a Brazilian sugaring & my upper legs for the 1st time. Jamie is very thorough in explaining exactly what she expects but most importantly what you should expect. She says she also gets sugared so she knows what it feels like so she can tell you which area is the most tender & so on. She is very professional & not one time did I ever feel embarrassed or uncomfortable in her facility. The sugaring itself is painful. However she explained to me that if you don't hydrate 2 days before hand w/water it could be more painful( I came in Starbucks in hand LOL). Also keeping up w/sugaring every 4 weeks softens the hair and it becomes less painful. We shall see. Also if you go in expecting this to be fast like a wax, it's not. I have gone to Your Body's Retreat many times for hair removal. Jamie is always professional. For the past few months, I have seen her sister, Melissa. Melissa has a different suite, and the waiting area has two comfortable chairs. Today I arrived for my 1:30 appointment at 1:24. I went in to the waiting area and sat down and began checking Facebook, emails, etc. I could hear Melissa talking to someone in the treatment room, but I paid no attention. At 1:30, Melissa stuck her head out of the door and asked me to wait in the hallway because the previous appointment was running later than planned. So I stepped out into the hall and continued checking my phone. At 1:34, Melissa came out into the hallway and said I could come in, but she had to do some cleanup. I again sat in a chair in her waiting area. After thinking about it, I said, "I'm leaving. I cannot believe you had me wait in the hall! I won't be back!" Melissa responded with shock (real or feigned, I could not tell). She said "My previous client was telling me something personal. Oh my god! You're leaving?" "Yes," I replied. "I am out of here! I can't believe you had me stand in the hallway!" "You could have sat in the chair outside Jamie's suite!" was her response. Melissa obviously missed the point. It wasn't my fault that her previous appointment had run over the time allotted. If they were worried that I might hear, they could have lowered their voices. I could not make out what was being discussed, nor did I try. It wasn't my fault that Melissa had two comfortable padded chairs in her waiting area but then told me I could not use them. So... I'm a little bit crazy about my brazilian waxes. Mainly because I have seen quality reduced the further I move east (I started in Los Angeles for $24 with 100% quality and went to San Diego ($40), Scottsdale ($75), Tempe ($65), the prices increasing and talent decreasing and now I live in Texas and these "spas" want $80 and will leave you with missed spots in the most difficult places to reach). Elitist? Yes, I am. Total hag? Depends on who you ask. I became frustrated with the lack of decent wax reviews in this category and did a seach in the Yellow Pages and started making phone calls to screen potentials for my new, *permanent* waxer. Most of these doofs didn't even answer their phones and certainly didn't return calls to me - interesting business practices. Hmm. Wonder how "y'all" get clients? But I digress... By the time I called Your Body's ReTreat I probably sounded like a total psycho when Jamie answered on the first ring. She was super nice and explained that she uses a process called "sugaring." I've heard of this term but didn't really know what it is and how it differs from wax. At this point with so many salons NOT giving me the answer I wanted and Jamie having a professional phone personality that reached out to my good sense to bring it down a notch, I figured, what the hell, and made an appointment for the next day. The salon is located in a small, nondescript building, in the far right suite of building 111 Bedford. I drove past twice - if you're looking for big neon lights then you might miss it. Jamie got to work on me right away and explained the process and how it differs from wax - sugar is a room-temperature ball of goop that gets you cleaned up so efficiently I can't imagine how I was a wax customer for so many years. The process leaves you clean, with no sticky residue and you're immediately good to go - you don't feel like you've been kicked repeatedly by Pat Morita wearing cleats. I am completely sold on this process. She also mentioned that the results last a bit longer than with wax, and I'm seeing that rings true already (it's been about 10 days as I'm writing this review). After I had my Brazilian wax complete, she said you can clean off with this wet rag and then just throw it on the floor next to the other wet rags......what?! Just got my first Brazilian in 10 years this afternoon. First and only one was a hot strip wax that was crazy painful and irritating afterwards. I wasn't fully versed on waxing back then and didn't know you best results wouldn't be seen until after a few sessions. Sugaring was much less painful and after is just a little tender. Not at all as irritating after as the hot wax which was red and raw. The studio is very nice and Jamie did a great job. I'll be back for regular upkeep. read more

This is the first place I've ever gotten sugared at. Prior to this I always did waxing or threading. I think I'm a convert...either that or Jamie is just amazing. She's friendly, she's no fuss, she is efficient, and her rates are reasonable for her services. It's as nice as an experience of having your hair ripped out of your body can be anyway! Loved this place! It was my first time to try sugaring and I loved the results. It still hurts like waxing but I felt that it lasted longer. If you are in a hurry, this method is a process so make sure you are aware and have enough time. I got a full brazilian and it took about 40-45 minutes.
