Just two, thrown in, uncared for slices of pizza
    Vito K.

Ever since my son and his mother moved across the street, I've been coming here every now and then for years. Customer service is always spotty. The hot food bar is always decent. I miss their old bakery lol their selection and parking availability is also always very decent. But today I jumped in with my son to grab two quick slices for him and I was disappointed in how they just threw his two slices in a box. No paper, no nothing. They can and should be doing better than this.

A great job to have all the shelves immaculate. I really liked how bright it was in there. Staff were friendly. Overall a great experience. The variety is staggering like the might of the Venetian empire once was!

    SALES

*‧This might be a secret I shouldn't be sharing... but here we go. Bar is open from: 12 pm to 9 pm Grocery Store is open from: 6 am to 12 am If you love good food, cheap drinks, and a clean, spacious bar -- yes, inside a grocery store--then Gelson's Tapas and Bar in Franklin Village is your new favorite spot. Service: Absolutely AMAZING! There are three beautiful ladies, Alicia (who has been with Gelson's for 26 years), Mayra (8+ years), and Cindy (10+ years) will take great care of you, and always ask them what the deal of the day is and what is on sale in the store. If you come in between July 18-20, 2025, you can save 25% off on mix and match bottles of wine and spirits! Say "hi" to Charlie, the store manager. Drinks: There are about a dozen beers on tap, and each is just $7, and on TUESDAYS they are $5 -- happy hour prices I haven't seen in years! They also offer an impressive wine selection: 12 reds, 11 whites, 4 sparkling wines, and 2 rosés. On MONDAYS and WEDNESDAYS you get $2 off of every glass of wine/sparkling! You can get wine flights, beer flights, and even sake, which seems to be a local favorite. They provide 3 NON ALCOHOLIC BEERS! Food: Yes, they have sushi -- and it's surprisingly good and affordable. Must-tries: Hand Roll Trio (Spicy Tuna, Salmon, and Blue Crab), Royal Rainbow Roll, Kanpachi with Green Onions, and the Gelson's Signature Spicy Ahi Tuna Poke Tower - my absolute favorite! They serve everything from hand rolls to sashimi and nigiri. You'll be amazed at the quality, especially paired with a crisp beer, white wine, or authentic sake. For non-sushi eaters, the regular menu includes: Burgers, Meatball sub, A fantastic Truffle Mac & Cheese with Brisket, and Shrimp skewers on kale salad (a great low-calorie pick). And if you're there on game night, try the Poke Nachos -- they're a crowd favorite. Dessert: The dessert menu is small -- just Artisan Ice Cream (4 flavors) and Cheesecake (also 4 flavors) -- but that's because there's an entire bakery right in front of the bar. Cakes, cookies, pastries, and even Italian coffee await. My personal favorite? The Princess Cake! Insider Tips (because no one else is giving you the real hacks): Parking: Free parking and plenty of it! Franklin Village is walkable, so many locals don't drive -- meaning more parking for you. Location: Just off the 101, super easy to reach. Crowd faves: Try the Sidewinder Fries (ask for them extra crispy!) and, again, those legendary Poke Nachos. Rewards: Sign up for a Gelson's Account -- you'll get points, discounts, and invites to free tasting events. Earn 1 point for every 10¢ you spend -- and yes, you can use your rewards at the bar! $5 OFF for every $50 you spend. "You Sip, We Shop": Yup, hand the bartender your list, and they'll shop for you while you relax. Deals: Yes, Gelson's groceries are generally upscale, but sign up for their newsletter -- they offer serious savings with weekly deals, sales, and BOGOs. Corkage Fee: On TUESDAYS and SATURDAYS, there is no corkage fee, so grab a bottle of your choice and pay for it AT THE BAR. Sit, sip and enjoy. Enjoy 20% off on bottles sold at the bar on THURSDAYS and FRIDAYS! HOT Final Thoughts: If you've read this far, here's the real reason this bar is gold: you can catch NBA, NFL, or MLB games on any of the three TVs -- without the noise of a sports bar, but with all the good drinks and apps. It's low-key perfect. SHHHH... Don't tell too many people. *‧ -- Written with neighborhood love, Mya

$12 dollars cheaper per lb for a much better cut of beef that's actually prime

Update: I just went to Bristol Farms to get a prime ribeye and compared to the marbling on the prime ribeye from Gelson's, I can say without a doubt that the steak at gelsons is in no way prime! AND ITS $12 MORE PER POUND AT GELSONS!!! Ever since that Japanese company bought the Gelsons chain, they keep slowly removing high quality products from their shelves and replacing them with lower quality alternatives priced at premium prices. I pretty much have absolutely no reason to come here anymore and I live .2 miles away and have been shopping here for 15 years. It's a shame to see this company go downhill. Also, the price of their steaks is comically absurd. You can get better prime bone-in ribeye at Bristol farms for 38.99/lb. Also, that Melissa's brand is at Safeway for 1/2 the price. I've seen products at Gelsons which are more expensive than the exact same item at Erewhon!!!! Let that sink in!!!! Also, you have to be super careful with the expiration dates here. Every time I come here I find products that are expired by a whole month!! This is becoming like a flea market experience

Gelson's is not my usual market to shop at just because I don't live near one. The nearest one is probably near Silverlake.  I like these particular snacks, and no other grocery chains carry them. The specific flavor I like is only sold at Gelson's, and sadly, not all Gelson's, so I always have to call ahead before heading out. Elizabeth answered when I called, and she informed me there were two boxes available. I told her I would be there in a couple hours and asked if she could hold it for me. She politely granted my favor and got my name. I went there a little earlier than promised and was able to get the 2 boxes she held for me and walk out of the store in 5 minutes or less. Smooth transaction with the help of a professional employee. I wish to be back when they restock on my favorite snacks.

Shoppers, Double check the expiration dates. They are placing items on the shelves that are expiring the next day, alongside spoiled items. Twice I had a food delivery of the exact items and I faced the same issues.

Recently, Rite Aid transferred my prescriptions to this Ralphs and I am just SHOCKED at how downhill this place has gone. It's dirty. In the cramped and small parking lot, you'll see garbage, debris and almost always, a police action. The store, which was never particularly roomy, has been made even worse by the installation of anti-theft panels and cabinets to lock up any item of even minuscule value. The aisles are now even more narrow and cramped. I have no idea how one finds a basket or cart... you just wander around hoping for a castaway. Not that I needed either... I wouldn't buy anything from the "fresh" section or deli here on a dare. I saw turkey that was so un-fresh it had turned a scary shade of taupe. The produce area is impossible to navigate and this morning, there were several large spills that were being studiously ignored by the staff. And the pharmacy - what a mess. It's in a dark, dank corner but still right in an aisle, so there is no where to line up. And there WILL be a line, because the hours aren't very convenient. This Rock and Roll Ralphs was always a little "gritty". But it's gone too far. Probably best to gut the entire store and either start over or just tear it down.

Today it's finding out the (orange dyed) Salmon I purchased two days ago is leaking in my fridge and has stunk up my apartment. It's happened before with the Salmon. I'm sick and tired of having my bakery items develop mold far before the Sell-by date. Such a waste of food! Same goes for the pre-packaged fruits and nuts. Fruits develop mold and the nuts are often dry and hard. I'm also pretty tired of the so-called niche products that taste like shyt. I bought Hot Honey Fudge the other day - I love fudge - the name sounded good; but, my mistake, I should have actually read the description because 'Hot' really means chili hot... and disgusting. The candies are many but 'many' are yuck: dark chocolate that's basically just bitter bits and not a confectionery. Putting chili in too many products is also awful. Having bizarre foodstuffs like Gone Bananas and other ice cream yuck - and keeping it in an open freezer is a disaster. The pre-packed salads have gotten smaller and more expensive. Some eggs can be hatched. The avocados are often just as miserably bruised as the cheaper versions in the big stores. And the overall feeling I get is that the foods Trader's attempts to pioneer with are rather tasteless, poor texture and otherwise - odd, that anyone would like them. But, then again, we all know the 'types' of people who shop Traders - and some of these 'types' seem less-than concerned about quality... at least at this store in Hollywood...they're more attracted to 'being seen' than making sense with their spending habits. And what's with all the recalls and union-busting, etc. I'd like to think Trader's was a better place before it went rogue commercial. Anyway, the customer service at the check-out is good. The CS are helpful with any searching and sourcing. BUT! And this is a big BUT - I don't feel the 'service' of 'just bring it back' or 'we'll give you a refund' is the answer to this mess. It's inconvenient, unfair and not a solution to providing quality. Forcing your staff to behave 'over-the-top' does not satisfy the requirement that your produce needs to be top-notch. 3-Stars off for Couldn't been better; but, it ought to be 'Yuck' till you get your act together. I may attach images later.

I ordered Sushi spicy tuna rolls and Sunflowers from Bristol Farms through Uber for delivery. When…read morethe order arrived, neither the sushi or the Sunflowers were fresh. The sushi was visibly gray. Extremely concerning considering it's raw fish and the sunflowers were already halfway dead. The sushi had an expiration date for tomorrow but it obviously didn't look safe to eat. Since the store is 6 minutes from my house, I decided to drive there myself to exchange the items. I brought the products and the receipt that was included in the bag. I wasn't asking for a refund at the time. I simply wanted to exchange the flowers for fresh ones (that I saw on display as I was walking into the store) and grab something else for lunch since I obviously wasn't going to eat spoiled raw fish. When I arrived I explained the situation, the associate, Rhonda, told me they could not exchange the items because the order had been placed through Uber. She said Uber receives the money, not the store. That explanation was confusing considering I had the physical receipt from Bristol Farms and the spoiled items in my hand. I explained that I wasn't trying to get a refund and was only asking for an exchange, but I was still refused. I was told that even with the receipt it didn't matter because I could potentially request a credit from Uber and also receive an exchange from the store. Honestly, I found that pretty insulting and an attack on my character. I had already taken time to drive there to resolve the issue directly. The whole point of ordering delivery was for convenience, yet I took steps to go into the store and fix the issue directly. Just to be told there was nothing they could do. While the shopper should have noticed that the sushi looked questionable and the flowers were dying, the bigger issue is that Bristol Farms was selling items in that condition in the first place. A store that markets itself as high-quality and fresh should not selling visibly spoiled sushi or dying flowers. Even more disappointing was the lack of basic customer service when I showed up with the items and a receipt trying to resolve the issue. Instead of helping a customer who clearly received poor quality products. I was told to contact Uber when in reality Uber is just the middle person. Bristol Farms should be held responsible for their spoiled items. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience and not at all what I expected from a store that claims to prioritize freshness and quality. (This was my first Bristol Farms experience, but in my quick Google search this is how Bristol Farms was described). If companies are going to partner with delivery platforms to sell their products, there should also be a clear way for customers to resolve issues directly with the merchant. Because the store refused to exchange the items in person, I was forced to go through Uber instead. When I contacted Uber, there wasn't even a human being I could speak with. I had to go back and forth through automated AI chats just to get a partial refund for the sushi. Now I'm stuck going in circles again trying to explain that the flowers were half dead and also need to be refunded, since the store refused to exchange them directly. The entire process has been frustrating and unnecessarily complicated. This is exactly the kind of situation where companies partnering together should have a simple solution for the customer, but instead it turned into a time-consuming mess. In the end, everyone loses. Uber becomes unreliable and unpredictable, which makes me far less likely to order groceries or goods through them again. I was also a first-time customer of Bristol Farms, and after this experience I won't be purchasing from them again either. And as the customer, I'm the one who ends up losing not only time but money because I'm obviously not going to gift someone half-dead flowers. Not to mention the prices on Uber are marked higher. I paid a delivery fee and I also tipped appropriately so it's just terrible all around.

Compared to Publix (the gold standard of grocery comfort) or Trader Joe's (chaotic-good culinary wizardry), the selection here feels thin. You can get what you need, but you won't discover anything that changes your life or your dinner plans. Customer service? Fine--but slower than other locations. No hostility. No disasters. Just that gentle, Hollywood pace where everyone seems slightly distracted, like they're all waiting for a callback that may never come. And yet... I keep coming back. Because Coinstar. Because convenience. Because sometimes you just need to dump a jar of shame-quarters and leave with dignity. This Pavilions isn't exceptional--but it's functional, familiar, and does the one thing I absolutely need it to do without drama. In modern retail, that counts for a lot.

They have a great selection of domestic and import to satisfy my French hubby. Also, their meat dept is fabulous. They have Snake River meats and Jidori chicken. The staff is always friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. I've even switched my prescriptions to their pharmacy. Their app makes ordering prescriptions easy and the staff pharmacists are great and take time to answer questions . There is usually no wait.

I've been coming to Lazy Acres for over a year, ever since moving into the neighborhood, and I'm…read morereally glad this store replaced the old Rite Aid. It feels like a huge upgrade. Overall, this is easily one of my go-to grocery stores in LA, and I literally stop by almost every day. The store is always organized, clean, and easy to shop. Not everything is organic, but they carry a lot of great products, and the overall selection is strong. I usually get my daily produce here, and I also buy wine here pretty often. The water refill area is always kept clean, which I appreciate, and their fresh juice section is one of my favorite parts of the store. The larger juices come in plastic, but the price on the orange juice is hard to beat, so I keep going back for it. I also like their prepared food section. During one stretch I was buying it pretty often and was always happy with the options, especially since a lot of the food avoids seed oils and uses grass-fed beef. They even have a live kitchen where you can sign up for classes and participate in food prep, which is a really cool touch and makes the store feel more thoughtful and community-oriented. The staff is another big plus. I've interacted with a lot of the cashiers and employees here, and they've all been sweet, personable, and genuinely pleasant to talk to. You can tell the people working here care and that the store is trying to offer a better experience. My only real issue is the meat and fish section. I've tried a lot from it over time--chicken breast, wings, ground wagyu, marinated items, branzino--and too often I've felt like I wasn't getting the freshest product. That's the one department that has consistently let me down. It's disappointing because the rest of the store is so strong. I also don't really understand why the wagyu ground beef costs almost double when it's formed into patties, but that's more confusing than a dealbreaker. At the end of the day, I still think Lazy Acres is one of the best grocery stores in LA, especially for convenience, cleanliness, product mix, and staff. But I've pretty much told myself to stop buying meat here, because for the same price I can get much better quality from a proper butcher. Since it's only a 3-minute walk from me, I'll absolutely keep coming back, just with a little more selectiveness about what I buy.

Let me get this out of the way: this is not your average grocery store. The produce department…read morelooked gorgeous, the meat counter was top-notch, and the fish was clearly fresh. The employees were genuinely helpful and a cut above what you usually find at a grocery store -- and yes, you pay a premium for that. I picked up some vegetables and fruit, and the pineapple was outstanding -- easily the best I've bought in the U.S. The vegetables were noticeably better than what I get at my local market. This is a great place to shop when you want high-end produce, meat, or fish. Would I do my weekly grocery shopping here? Probably not. But as a quality-focused stop, I really liked this store.
