A very conveinent and organized Trader Joe's in the area. I was looking for a quick lunch while in town and found some good wraps and also an energy shot. They have lots of different wrap meals I haven't seen at other locations. They definitely have a whole lot at this store, likely as it's in the heart of Hollywood. They have all the usual TJ frozen items here, including poultry, seafood, and ready meals. They also have a wonderful-smelling flower section at the front of the store. The smell of the fresh roses during my visit was just captivating! Will be coming back the next time in town! read more

Not happy! I'm sick and tired of buying poor quality control produce. Today it's finding out the (orange dyed) Salmon I purchased two days ago is leaking in my fridge and has stunk up my apartment. It's happened before with the Salmon. I'm sick and tired of having my bakery items develop mold far before the Sell-by date. Such a waste of food! Same goes for the pre-packaged fruits and nuts. Fruits develop mold and the nuts are often dry and hard. I'm also pretty tired of the so-called niche products that taste like shyt. I bought Hot Honey Fudge the other day - I love fudge - the name sounded good; but, my mistake, I should have actually read the description because 'Hot' really means chili hot... and disgusting. The candies are many but 'many' are yuck: dark chocolate that's basically just bitter bits and not a confectionery. Putting chili in too many products is also awful. Having bizarre foodstuffs like Gone Bananas and other ice cream yuck - and keeping it in an open freezer is a disaster. The pre-packed salads have gotten smaller and more expensive. Some eggs can be hatched. The avocados are often just as miserably bruised as the cheaper versions in the big stores. And the overall feeling I get is that the foods Trader's attempts to pioneer with are rather tasteless, poor texture and otherwise - odd, that anyone would like them. But, then again, we all know the 'types' of people who shop Traders - and some of these 'types' seem less-than concerned about quality... at least at this store in Hollywood...they're more attracted to 'being seen' than making sense with their spending habits. And what's with all the recalls and union-busting, etc. I'd like to think Trader's was a better place before it went rogue commercial. Anyway, the customer service at the check-out is good. The CS are helpful with any searching and sourcing. BUT! And this is a big BUT - I don't feel the 'service' of 'just bring it back' or 'we'll give you a refund' is the answer to this mess. It's inconvenient, unfair and not a solution to providing quality. Forcing your staff to behave 'over-the-top' does not satisfy the requirement that your produce needs to be top-notch. 3-Stars off for Couldn't been better; but, it ought to be 'Yuck' till you get your act together. I just want to voice my disappointment with what happened at this location earlier today. The posted business hours clearly state 9 AM-9 PM, and people began lining up as early as 8 AM, expecting a smooth and organized release of the tote bags. However, when the doors finally opened at 9 AM, we were only then informed that the bags wouldn't even be available until 3 PM. What's frustrating is that at least 10 staff members saw the growing line well before opening, yet not a single person stepped out to give us a heads-up. There wasn't even any signage posted outside the door to inform customers about the delay. Instead, everyone was left waiting for over an hour, only to receive that information at the last minute. It felt inconsiderate and unprofessional. It's really just basic courtesy to communicate with customers, especially when people are making an effort to show up early--some even before or during their work hours. A simple announcement or sign could have saved everyone time and frustration. Respecting people's time goes a long way, and in this case, it was completely overlooked. I genuinely don't understand the reasoning behind withholding that information until the doors opened. Situations like this could easily be avoided with better communication and customer awareness. Hoping to see improvement moving forward, because experiences like this leave a lasting impression--and not a good one. read more

Wow... this location gets BUSY. I went on a Sunday, which is usually the only day I hit up Trader Joe's anyway, and with the farmers market nearby it was absolutely packed. But honestly, even with all that traffic, everything still ran super smoothly. Shout out to our cashier whose name started with an L (I think it was Lave?) an African American woman who was so quick, so friendly, and so professional. I went in with a longer grocery list than expected and she had me in and out in no time, which I really appreciated when the store was this crowded. The parking situation is actually really convenient, especially for a Hollywood location, which I heavily appreciate because that's usually the worst part of shopping in this area. The staff overall does a great job keeping things moving and organized despite how busy it gets. The only thing to be aware of is the outside streets. There are some unhoused individuals and solicitors around, which I know is out of Trader Joe's control, but it definitely gives a different vibe compared to shopping back home in the Valley. That said, the store itself is efficient, clean, and well run, and I'd absolutely still recommend this location if you're in the area and want to knock out your groceries quickly even on a hectic day. This location stays busy. Good for them as it's prime spot right in the heart of Hollywood. Right above them is an apartment complex so how nice is it to come down and shop. It's on a busy corner in the middle of Sunset and Hollywood on Vine. Across the street from Equinox. Customer service has always been amazing. Right when you walk in your guarantee to be greeted by someone. In my experience it's alway been sweet. Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly. If you're looking for something and can't find it, they're more than happy to help. If it's not there, it maybe in the back. There's loads of register for checking out. The floral department is quite nice and big. Compared to a lot of the other locations, it's inside so the plants tends to stay fresher versus if they're out in the sun all day. The isles are nice and wide so it makes shopping easier with the trolley. Parking lot available with validation. One of the nicer Trader Joe's in the city. read more

This Trader Joe's location is big! I drove past it trying to find parking for the Hollywood stars walk of fame and then end up coming back to shop after. They didn't have all the items that I normally buy to bring back to Hawaii but they did have a lot of new items like the blue cheese potato chips, ketchup chips, pumpkin liege waffles, and furikake snack mix. They had the dusty blue large Insulated bag as well as the large green canvas tote bag available at the front of the store. The store is spacious and the checkout was fast. Since it's sort of in the city, I guess people don't buy a cart full of things. I like coming to Trader Joe's because their prices have remained consistent over the years and Hawaii people love getting their reusable bags as gift. If I wasn't in this area, I would not go out of way to come here. I did see a sign for parking and the garage but I'm not sure if it was free. I parked 1 street over and fed the meter. read more

Who thought grocery shopping could be so fun! When I was in Cali I stopped by to pick up some water and ended up having a ball! The entire shop is arranged in such an entertaining manner. I loved the murals on the wall and the items they had on stock. The staff was helpful and I was able to easily find what I was looking for. I truly was tempted to buy more things than I has initially come there for. I found some amazing macarons and they stayed crispy and chewy for several days. The layout was also convenient as we stopped by while walking the Walk of Fame. The various levels made pick up and drop off easy. While is was crowded, it somehow never felt congested and we had plenty of space. This place truly converted me into a grocery shopper! read more

Oh... and samples if I come early enough for those haha. They also carry unique snacks that are worthy, affordable, convenient and yummy. Call me a Trader "Hoe" because I am in it way too often whether it's this location or another lol (jokingly) Familiar faces here every time I drop by whether it's the employees, the regulars or randomly running into music industry folks I've associated with. The employees are always pleasant, always willing to chat, and surpasses an uplifting mood during their busy hours. I came in at a benevolent time. I was waiting in line to get ringed up and the woman in front of me randomly wanted to purchase me an item as a "just because." I resisted but she persisted as it stems from a desire of hers. So I accepted her kind gesture. Moni, an employee cashiering at the time, was a sweet one. And Elliot, another employee, who seems to always be in such a great mood...makes you want to have a grand day when you talk to him. All right, let's talk Trader Joe's. this one is a popular one because of it's location but getting there is like a mini adventure. Parking is a hassle; it's like a puzzle where the pieces don't fit. But once you're in, you realize how lucky we are to have this Trader Joe's in the neighborhood. They've got a fantastic selection. seriously, it's like a wonderland compared to some other locations near me. The grab-and-go options are top-tier here so if you're in a rush, you might just be leaving with a gourmet victory lap. And don't even get me started on the flowers. They are bigger, brighter, and better than close to me. Inside, the aisles are clean. just make sure you validate your parking at checkout or you might get a little ticket surprise. Oh, and if you park on the street, be ready for a mini weightlifting session as no carts allowed outside, so it's you versus your groceries! read more

This Trader Joe's location is conveniently located around the corner from my gym. So I go often.the food is usually great. The prices are always a good deal. I like the ready to go salads and wraps so do my children. Today I encountered a very rude cashier Jaime. He was just rude for no reason I asked him politely to double bag the bags I left my reusable bags at home today no big deal I'll gladly pay for however many bags I require. I asked him to pack my bags lighter as I was on the bus and have a disability.he seen me with my cane . He had an attitude and start throwing my items around mind you I had eggs. I asked 3 times politely for him to double bag the bags so then he packs one more bag after he rang up my transaction and states oh you have to pay for more bags. Sure!!!!no problem I state had you packed the bags lighter as I requested before you would have seen I need more bags. He goes on to wave his hands in my face get loud and walks away to the managers desk. I didn't react which isn't my norm I just let it go because I'm tired of being reactive. One manager came and charged me the additional $0.20 cents for the bags. As I was leaving another manager apologized that's was ok. I said moving forward could you please talk to him about his outburst I did nothing wrong and isn't like how I was treated. Needless to say I'll be going to the Trader Joe's on Santa Monica blvd now or the one across town on 3rd. Or perhaps I'll just leave Trader Joe's all Roger and just go to Whole Foods or lazy acres...don't need to shop anywhere where I'm mistreated. read more

One of my favorite stores. I like how it's all people who do cashiering, fingers crossed continues. Yet the people doing cashiering and working in this Trader Joe's store really bring a great vibe. Honestly at some stores I hate to say this but rather do self checkout because vibe isn't the best. I found with retail, cashiering if have fun, engage can connect and have fun makes time go by faster! Which is why I left Trader Joe's yesterday with a great experience. This isn't the worst trader Joe's location I've ever been to, but it's certainly not the best. This location is right in the heart of Hollywood, so it's probably the closest trader Joe's to where you are if you live in Hollywood. So if that's the case, you're probably stuck coming to this location. Nothing to really worry about, it's a trader Joe's just like all the others. It's actually a little nicer and maybe a little newer than some other locations, so there's nothing that you're going to really be missing out on. The things that bring this location down when compared to other trader Joe's locations around the city, is the parking and the size of the store. I understand it's an inside joke that all trader Joe's parking lots are terrible. This one is nice, and that it isn't shared with any other businesses. But it is not as nice, because it's tight, poorly laid out, feels like there aren't a lot of spots, and you have to get your parking validated in order to park here for free. as for the size of the store, this trader Joe's certainly feels smaller than some other locations in the area. There are some other stores that feel just as small, the one in eagle Rock comes to mind, but there are definitely larger trader joses in the Los Angeles area. So again, if you like trader Joe's you're going to like this store. If this is the closest one to you there's no reason to go anywhere else. read more

Ever since I started working around the area I started frequenting this location. I would say is smaller compared to others but I'm grateful how well put everything is. I gotta be honest but the outside area is sketchy AF. There's almost always something going on outside but this is Hollyweird!!! Service is excellent, I don't know how they do it as you can encounter some characters here! I love trying new stuff and getting my faves as usual. I absolutely love their candles, coffee, and I love trying their samples because it makes me want to get new stuff. I also love how they carry my fave rum, Flor de Caña. I also love the colorful roses, their cereals, their snacks, their cheese selection, the water and everything in between. Free parking. read more

And if you don't cook - their options on heat and serve foods as well as specialty items that serve 2-4 is quite extensive. The service is always friendly. I normally don't leave reviews, but what happened today (Nov 26 around 6:25 PM) at the parking lot exit was honestly frustrating and unsafe. One of the cars at the front had an issue with their ticket, so the parking attendant an older man made everyone wait while a passenger ran back into Trader Joe's. This was on one of the busiest days of the year, the day before Thanksgiving. The line of cars behind them kept growing, and instead of directing traffic or opening the second exit sooner, he just let everyone sit there. About five minutes later, he finally decided to open the second exit lane. He moved the cones and told the second car in line to switch over, but the angle from where that car was positioned made it very difficult to move into the new lane. The driver struggled to turn without hitting the curb and actually ended up going over it. Instead of helping guide the driver from the outside, the attendant told the customer to get out and then got into the car himself to straighten it out. I really don't think the attendant should have handled the situation this way. He should have just let the first customer through instead of making everyone wait, and then simply opened the gate to keep traffic moving. The whole situation felt unnecessary and could have been easily avoided with better judgment. read more

Tamara and Theodore made my day at Trader Joe's Hollywood! I'm a small (short) Japanese woman, I always need help to get products from the high shelfs, but today I was trying to get a package of beef hot dogs by myself... and then...Tamara came right away with her big smile and helped me to get the product. I'm a clean freak, so I always select a clean and nice cashier (it takes a couple of minutes), and today I selected Theodore, because he seemed like a clean and kind person, I was right, he also had a nice smile and didn't bother with my too many plastic bags (I always use a lot of plastic bags, so it is difficult to scan products sometimes, and many cashiers don't like it). Easily my favorite Trader Joe's because it is the most bizarre. The employees, products, and location are all well and good. The customers this place attracts opt for some rather strange behaviors, and for obv. reasons, a person trained to work at a TJ doesn't really have the skills to deal with them. Here is my fave incident, and this definitely occurred: (Imagine a row of people in medium length check out lines with the usual quiet, polite TJ vibe & muzak) A man in line w/ear piece or ear bud in: (blurts out at a customer checking out in front of him) COME ON OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO EAT YOU SELFISH BIT**. Everyone in TJ: *Glances at the man in unison, and stops fussing w/groceries* Ear piece guy: Sorry, uh. I'm mentally ill. All the Trader Joe's staff: *Decide to resume business as normal, and ignore the abusive customer.* Presumably he was directing his enraged comment at one of the customers with a haul of groceries ahead of him. I find it laughable that there is now not any consequence for spewing forth a heap of hateful, vicious language if you reference your mental illness. The real miracle is that ignoring the guy worked to deescalate the situation. The banana cocoa milk I got ended up being the little treat I hoped for too. A real bonus after witnessing one of the most unacceptable instances of adult behavior go unaddressed by employees who witnessed it. I would return with due caution. read more

Alright, starting this TJ's review off with a warning - this location spoiled me when I lived downstairs but still does today. Large corner location off of Vine Street, subterranean parking and quick lines. This place is super busy but surprisingly stocked with everything all the time! This location gets five stars for the fact that I can't remember a time I've come here struggling with my needs. This is the largest Trader Joe's I've ever visited. It's well stocked and filled with tons of options of familiar favorites. From wine to flowers and mochi ice cream and canned goods. The store was clean and busy. I visited on a Sunday morning and it was pretty packed at 10 am. They have a large parking lot and you can get your parking validated for as long as you're not there for longer than an hour. Once you surpass and hour you're charged $2.50 for every 15 minutes. read more

It's too early in the morning for this. If I ever end up at Trader Joe's it's on accident and definitely on accident in Hollywood. This place continually proves itself uninhabitable by most human standards. Some people are always lined up along the sidewalk for something or other, or taking video of themselves, sidewalk sleepers just accepted as part of the scenery at this point...such was the case this morning. Anyway. I can't possibly ever give this chain more than maybe four stars. It's very obviously white upper-middle class trying to fit in with pretending to have ethnic cuisine and "affordable prices". It's expensive when you look closely at how much food you get for how much it costs. Yes, I'm down to the calorie-per-dollar equation at this point and it's still about three bucks a serving for anything here, so it's not really a deal. Maybe individually everything looks cheap but how much total do regular shoppers spend per month? So I don't appreciate the misnomer of "trader" in the name. They have seasonal items which are fine, cheap greeting cards which I appreciate, good customer service always, and I do appreciate lack of self check-out lines. I just will never intentionally come here and definitely not this specific location. One last thing is this location in particular is weird about parking, the entrance is hard to find and they're under apartments so some guy comes out to check on the precious amount of spaces, down to the minute you parked there. You still have to validate your ticket even if you are under an hour. It's just a bunch of annoyances that I don't want to come here. read more

I came into the store to buy 1 item, dog food. After being in the store for 30 seconds this woman rushed up and started harassing me about the dog. She's trained, doesn't bark inside, didn't use the bathroom on the floor, or jump on any other customers. I told her it's a service animal and regardless I was only going to be 2 minutes for this one item. She then proceeded to tell me to leave and that my SERVICE ANIMAL cannot be inside the store. I went to the checkout anyways and she took my item and put it back on the shelf and REFUSED to ring me up. I spoke to 3 other employees and 2 additional managers and they all agreed she was being problematic for no reason. I will never come back here again and now I'm going to speak to corporate about this employee because the service from this location is UNACCEPTABLE. This Trader Joe's is always packed! Parking is free for an hour in the parking structure on 1600 Vine. You can get it validated at the machine box by the parking lot entrance inside Trader Joe's. The parking spots closest to Trader Joe's are 20-minutes. What's odd is the produce shelves are right next to the raw meat shelves. The products aren't touching, but they're right next to each other. read more

I love this Trader Joe's location. The customer service is always great no matter how busy the store is. So, 5* to Hollywood! This isn't about Hollywood store but TJs overall. I hate writing this review here because this is my favorite TJs. But the food is another story that has nothing to do with Hollywood. Be careful of anything in packages. I've gotten salads with brown lettuce. Many of their products are loaded with saturated fat and sodium. Some of the products that look vegetarian are not (ie, animal rennet), so you have to read the labels carefully. They've gotten really pricey except for the cheese. I get the same produce at other stores for the same price that lasts longer. I only go to TJs when they have seasonal fruit I can't get anywhere else and cheese. I bought late season grapes there once and discovered mold on them when I got home. I hate writing this after going to the Hollywood store for so long which is why I gave them. But the quality control at all TJs are lacking. It's really sad. I'd say avoid all of them. read more

Not everyone here is rude, but honestly, around 80-90% of the staff, including the managers, come off as rude and even a bit racist. When you ask them a question, which happens a lot since they often run out of stock, they always look annoyed. For instance, I asked this one manager if they had certain foods in stock, and instead of actually checking, he just told me to look around. Super helpful, right? I even looked around three times! It's like some of them have zero people skills. One time, a manager with a notepad was moving boxes on a cart and nearly ran into me. He didn't even bother to apologize, not to me or to anyone else nearby. Also, this store gets crowded with typical 'Hollywood' lifestyle people with shades inside of the store. Like really? Plus, the validation machine at the exit almost never reads the stamp from the store. When I brought it up to the parking staff, he just told me that it happens all the time and that I should scan it multiple times. How was I supposed to know that? read more

My husband and I were passing through and wanted to grab a few things. They have so - much - stuff! A lot more than our home TJ's. What I loved about this day and location - the samples! I haven't seen Trader Joe's locations do this in a while. It was so refreshing and cool. This day, they were sampling the Gummy Bear grapes. My husband and I loved them and bought a container.
