Wow, I feel honored and surprised that I am the first to write a review on their page for this year. This place deserves 10 stars if not more!! Waked in today around 4pm and was greeted by 2 of their employees. They gave me a very nice, warm welcome and even asked me what was it that I needed? I told them that I am browsing, but if I need help, I will let them know. I haven't been here in decades. I happened to be in Hollywood and remembered this lovely Middle Eastern store. They have fresh produce, variety of imported foods, great deli, selection of fresh meat, & dairy. They also have a good selection of baked goods. Got 1pint of Sour Cream, 5 bananas, 3 oranges, a bag of apples, couple of different variety of breads. Matnakash, (Armenian bread) & lavash-another type of Armenian bread. I also got water, box of tea bags, ready made salads, different types of berries, some seasoning & dried fruit. Employees are very helpful and the store is not big, but somehow they fit everything there and is fully stocked, organized and very clean. Prices are unbeatable. Very affordable. Parking is very challenging and it's street parking only! If you happen to be in the area, give this cute, quaint store a try! read more

Arbat Grocery - Grocery Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I'm very disappointed to have to write this, but this grocery store is UNSAFE! NO ONE who works there is properly wearing a mask. It's either under their chin or under there nose as they are yelling across the store, sorting producer, and cutting deli meats. There are signs everywhere, but the employees of all people ignore them. I like what this store has to offer for unique Armenian groceries. Cheeses, dips, teas, grains, chocolates, and more. I was excited to support a small business during the pandemic, but I will NEVER go here again when the workers clearly have no regard for the safety of their customers. If there is this much disregard now, what were they doing before? Many customers were not wearing masks either. Btw, you don't need to take off your mask to talk on the phone. You can be heard, and if you don't believe me, and feel you must take off your mask to speak, and you must take the call now, then please, please go outside. read more

Arbat Grocery - a man wearing a mask and a sign - Grocery Near Me - Los Angeles, California

They had an awesome meat section and the best pastirma/basturma I have had in a while. I got to find pretty much everything I was looking for; from the specific type of eggplant to black mulberry preserves. I was beyond myself when I saw silverberries. read more

This little grocery store is amazing. If you are in search of Armenian food, this is the place to stop. We went inside and the staff were very friendly, store was very clean, great prices, and fresh meats and produce. I highly recommend this store if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Arbat Grocery is fantastic, a wonderful example of how the diverse cultures of East Hollywood add such richness to the Los Angeles landscape. I've been there maybe half a dozen times, and tried products from Russia, Armenia, Syria, Lebanon, India, Italy, and more. They sell many spices in pre-packaged bulk here that are fresher and cheaper than at a supermarket. A tub of Bay Leaf was only $2, and a quarter pound of Aleppo Pepper was about the same. The butcher and deli area features an incredible assortment of meats and cheeses from all over the universe -- some you've heard of, some you probably haven't -- and a chicken I bought there was delicious and among the freshest I've ever roasted. There is a produce section that has unexpected surprises like fresh Purple Basil, and Dandelion Greens, next to everything else. It is clear that Arbat is run with pride by people who care about serving their customers. Everything in the market feels intentional. Every time I've been there, someone is stocking the shelves. Everything is easy to find and neatly ordered. I always leave with two or three bags of food, and I have never spent more than $50 at a time. Brilliant. Service is low key but cross-culturally courteous -- it gets the job done. Easy to get in and out of as well. They have my highest recommendation. read more

Amazing products which are super fresh. Love this little shop! I find everything I need and then some. Love their deli, treats/sweets, fresh seasonal produce and fresh baked/ delivered breads. Also- delicious and fresh meats! read more

Came here for whole all spice berries for a new recipe. I was expecting to go to a different store for produce but they had that too and the staff helped me find everything I needed! They had three kinds of pears and nice produce all around. I spent some time looking at the various juices and compotes. Great places to find tahini, pita bread, dried fruits and nuts. Lots of great meats and cheeses. I got some Armenian cheese just because I wanted to try it. So many interesting products for the holidays or anytime. Check it out for the wonderful products they carry and feel good about supporting a small local business. read more

Friendly helpful staff. Great for Middle Eastern products. Found real Jordanian Za'atar (yay!), fresh pita (pide), tahini, Aleppo pepper, sumac, hard-to-find regional spices and spice mixtures, pomegranate molasses, good selection of Eastern Mediterranean olive oils, nuts and flowered waters. I was initially put off by the tacky street-facing front door but got over it as soon as I heard the delightful and riotous laughter of a toddler playing with Mom in the check out line and a grandfatherly gent who helped me find the right bread. I've made this place a routine stop now. Love it! read more

Arbat Grocery - Real Jordanian Za'atar!! - Grocery Near Me - Los Angeles, California

This is a cramped store, and they were serving several customers who were not wearing masks. I voiced my frustration, and they continued to serve one of the maskless customers at the meat counter. Another one was just checking out as this happened. Additionally, the woman behind the meat counter couldn't manage to keep her mask over her nose. I wouldn't trust trust any of the meat or produce. read more

I reviewed based on the lack of social distancing during early covid days but now that I realize COVID was a sham, they deserve 4 stars. Great small Armenian market with good prices and great meats if you want to bbq. They also have a ton of fresh cheeses and flat breads so you can recreate your favorite Armenian meals much cheaper at home. read more

All of the beef and chicken we bought was bad. We made the beef and it was like eating rubber and the chicken smelled terrible. Tried cooking it one hour after buying it and it was all bad. read more

Some staff members are judgy about what you buy and they mention it, especially if it's not healthy food.

It's a nice market but they charged Me $12 for cherries. Which I hope is worth it. The people were a little rude. No masks. No respect for personal space. They would just intrude in my personal space while I was shopping. As a woman of color it's uncomfortable so I'm never returning. read more

This store disregards basic mask rules, employees wear no mask and majority of armenian customers are mask-less. This creates an environment full of virus; with so many covid variants out there you risk catching it and taking the virus home to your family or friends. This is highly unacceptable as we already know how lethal covid is. Many loyal customers won't come back anymore read more

Been coming here for years. Dropped $50.00 in there. Forgot the butter. Went back and noticed they had cherries. Got some. Came home and wondered how 2 cup of noodles a cherry pepsi 2 avocados and some cherries was $30.00. (Guess I like cherry lol.) They are overpriced, (they are close to my house), but this was ridiculous. The cherries were $18.00! Took them back right away. The rude teller doesn't smile, look at you or talk to you when you check out, or reply to "Have a nice, day!" just hands me $16 and change. I walk outside and notice, and go back in. This is where the "fun" part starts. I said, yer short here. She says no. I point out the receipt. She still doesn't see the problem. I point it out again. Smugly she says this is not "full" anymore. WHY THE F WOULD I STEAL CHERRIES OR ANYTHING FROM A STORE I GO TO ALL THE TIME FOR YEARS? So, basically she's admitting she OVERCHARGED me for the cherries. I call for the manager who was not the usual guy, but I guess his wife. The line is now long because of this and the people are all staring at me. She is VERY NICE, as are most of the people that work there. This was a new cashier as I have never seen her before. I tell all of this and she gives me my money back. I told her I could have gone to Ralph's and back by now. Which is what I SHOULD have done, and now kicking myself for not doing. They don't know what Orange Juice is. Milk is over $5 Mayo (small jar) $5 Bread? Only whole wheat, not my favorite. Fresh (not) fruit very expensive. But they are family owned store and convenient, and I thought I was supporting the community. But you add the ingredient RUDE in and I'm done. This is the THIRD time they have been rude to me. Sure, I thought about taking some of the cherries, but I'm not an A-hole., and like I said I SHOP THERE ALL THE TIME! (Make that SHOPPED -- PAST TENSE.) This tops the time the elderly blonde lady got UPSET with me two months ago when I wanted some pepper jack cheese (It was about three weeks into the pandemic). I asked her if she had some gloves when she was slicing my cheese. She had a fit and glared at me. The whole time. The next time I tried to get cheese, it was the same glaring thing. The butcher yelled at her. There was a lot of yelling in Armenian but I got the gist. (I didn't see her in there this time btw). For the money I waste there, I could have taken an UBER to Ralph's and back. The nice manager asked if there was anything else I wanted. I said yeah, An apology from her, and pointed at the rude teller. I don't think I'll get one. And I will never shop there again. edit 6/28: Ralph's cherries are $2.99 lb - theirs was $6.99 lb edit 6/29: one of the avocados was rotten / milk was expired. read more

This is my local grocery store. Staff is friendly, prices affordable, and they have stuff I wouldn't fine at large chain stores.

they need to clean all the DOGS people walking the dogs and they don't clean after the dogs, homeless people around the park make it hard to get to the store, SPEEDING cars to cross street read more

I still really love this place. So many good deals that I go out of my way to stop there and even buy stuff for my co workers there. Lentils $1.69 a lb, giant pillow sized bag of spinach for $4.99, smoked turkey sliced fresh for $5.99 a lb. Great ribeyes, ribs, and lamb.....and if u see the ugly lumpy looking oranges? Buy them, they are amazing read more

I'm just here for the Victor lavash being accessible! Fruits and veggies were just ok, meat, cheese counter was just ok.. my favorite Armenian grocer is Sherman Way Market.. May be a little rude but always fresh veggies and meat but they run out of Victor lavash (which is the best)! read more

Great selection of inexpensive produce, NICE spices, fresh bread. The outside is a little off putting but inside is filled with delightful things. It's a bit cramped so that can be frustrating but it's corner store, it should be cramped. read more

I was there today to buy fruits & vegetables. Found all I looked for. Great prices, fast service, very good shop. Also, there are adorable cookies, I buy them time-to-time. 5-Star to to this grocery store! read more

My husband and I just love this place. We used to shop here all the time for vegetables, fruits and grains when we were living in Los Angeles. The prices are just awesome. We would walk out of there with 4-5 full bags having paid only $20-40. Plus, the staff is very nice and always helpful. This is just a great little neighborhood place that makes the neighborhood so very cozy and livable. read more

Fresh produce, meats, and dairy. Best fruits and veggies around-better than Ralphs or the farmers markets. Nice selection of olives. Whole bean coffee at incredibly low prices. Tons of spices. Everything is cheap! read more

This little neighborhood store is great. Why? 1. Cute old people. 2. prepackaged bulk goods (by this I mean all types of spices, nuts, snacks, etc. with their own labeling) 3. Fantastically displayed meats, poultry, cheeses, etc. 4. A nice an very cheap selection of produce 5. It's Armenian as far as I can tell, so it comes with all those awesome Armenian products that you want to try but can't do it quite yet! Everyone is very nice and helpful to boot! read more

Will not be going back. They are very rude and inattentive. They forget that there are about 7 other grocery stores around and if they keep up their rude attitude they will lose all their customers read more

Came into this place and thought since its a grocery they might have bread (particularly barbari), and when we asked if they sell barbari bread the man looked at us strange and rudely said no and walked away. 0 percent customer service, I will definitely not be coming back. read more

Cute little Armenian bodega that has very cool spices and products I've never seen - if I cooked, it would be my go to market! Also, lots of fresh fruits and veggies at great prices. And if you're feeling lucky, punk, you can buy your lotto tickets there, too! :) read more

Great neighborhood grocery! I came in looking for a specific freshly ground coffee and found a couple different options. The owner immediately told me that they do this particular grind on their fresh beans and that I should try those. They were cheaper than the pre-packaged coffees and much tastier. I will be returning here often. read more

I've been shopping here for years and I love this store! The owners and employees are very kind and cordial to everyone! They have some incredible produce, meats and lots of teas!!! This is the best grocery store! I have been coming here for years and have never been dissapointed. I moved to Granada Hills 3 years ago and still drive to hollywood just to come to Arbat because of the service and fresh produce. They always have fresh everything and the owner Hakop is very kind everytime I have entered into that grocery store! read more

This place is an excellent quick stop. Good variety and a lot of different things to try. In particular I really liked the beef tongue deli meat. I had pointed at this item asking why it was and the delicatessen pointed at her tongue. At first I asked for 1/8 a Lb but I ended up getting half a lb because I liked it for lunch. Very happy that I stopped by. Oh and the fruit is cheap fresh and reasonably priced read more

A great Armenian market. Lots of fresh produce, Armenian baked goods and fresh-looking meat. The guys at the market were friendly and they sell a Baklava from an Armenian bakery that is really great. Good products from the Arabic world that I love to use in my cooking! read more

I am going to share my experience with you. This is the finest purveyor of pasties in the world. As a teenager, I used to work in a branch at the weekends. On Sunday mornings, after a heavy Saturday night out, I nearly always had to ingest a hot, greasy pastie and a bottle of Sprite, just to get through the day. It's still my favorite hangover cure. his particular branch is right opposite the main city . So sometimes I fantasies about bumping into a cheap salad sandwich or a pie. It's never happened, though. My one gripe about Gregg's is that they seem to have stopped making gingerbread ghosts at Halloween. If you're reading this,Arbat, please bring 'em back. I will highly recommend this place. I will recommend and suggest this spot. read more

I found this alternative to Jon's market today on a stretch of Hollywood that I've only driven by before. It has the charm of a well established neighborhood shop that people care about. The cashier appeared to have seen better days and could have cared less if I was there, but the deli crew were cheerful and seemed to enjoy being there. I'll go back for milk and try the yogurt and check out all the exotic goods from around the world. read more

Great find here, I love the deli next to Traktir but was very very happy to find Arbat and will be very happy to return again for more great food. read more
