There's this awesome gelato spot in the Denville-Rockaway area where they make fresh gelato every day and offer a wide range of flavors. Their signature one is called "Every Flavor," and they always have other tempting options too. Every day, they post the flavor of the day on their Instagram. I've been trying to get my hands on pistachio or orange, but by the time I get there, it's always sold out. Even this time, I missed out again. I thought I'd at least get the guava flavor, but that was gone too! So, I ended up settling for a random pick--either pineapple or hazelnut chocolate. My parents, my husband and I visited this gelato place today after lunch. I've heard about it from my mom and wanted to check it out. We got to try different flavors before deciding on the final one we wanted. I got 1 scoop of orange blossom and honey gelato and 1 scoop of chocolate in a waffle cone, my husband got 2 scoops of chocolate in a mini cup, my mom got 2 scoops of wild berry cheesecake in a mini cup, my dad got 2 scoops salted caramel in a mini cup. This is a one in a while dessert. The sales person was patient while we chose our flavor; she was friendly and helpful. The store was clean and welcoming. Each of our gelatos was $5 and change which is a little pricey. Mine was a bit more cuz I asked for waffle cone. Next time, I'll opt for cup. I found out that they change their flavors daily. Since my stepson just returned from a vacation in Italy, there's been lots of talk of Italian food and delicacies in the house. Therefore, my wife and I decided to try out Gelato Envy on a Sunday afternoon. This store is located in a little strip mall off of Rt 46 in Rockaway. Prior to going, I checked up on its history on the website. It's very impressive that the owner imports ingredients from around the world. He's also well trained on the art of gelato making. When you get there and see the different flavors in the display case, it's a tough choice. Fortunately, you can sample. I decided to go with the chocolate hazelnut (hazelnuts imported from Italy) and my wife chose the raspberry cheesecake. Last June we went to Rome for a week and we had our fill of gelato-no lie, we ate it every day. Since we came back we've been hesitant to get gelato for fear of being woefully disappointed. A few weeks back we decided to to give it a go at Gelato Envy...and boy were we surprised. When we arrived the manager/owner greeted us and was so friendly...he seemed really proud of their gelato (I would be too). The place was super clean and bright and just seemed like we needed to hang out for a bit. They make different flavors at Gelato Envy every day so I can't even cheat and look up the menu to figure out what I have, but I know one of the flavors was a salted caramel. Wifey, my daughter and I all got small cups and all three of us practically licked the cups. They could expand on variety of flavors but they did have a few interesting ones. I tried sweet corn and blueberry and cookies and cream. It was interesting how cookies and cream was like a java chip color. I was caffeinated enough that day that I was glad there wasn't more caffeine in it.. Cookies and cream is so classic it's hard to mess up so they did a good job. I think they might have missed with the corn flavor though. It doesn't really embody sweet corn well though I can taste the savory side of it. Blueberry was barely tasted in it. Overall this parlor is not too busy even on a Saturday night. In the words of my 7 year old, "this is the best ice cream ever!", and I have to agree with him. The selection of flavors was extensive and unique, and I was blown away by every flavor I tried (and thankfully some sampling is allowed). You can tell how much thought and care has been put in by the owner here. We ended up having some sorbetto (passion fruit and cucumber & lime) and some gelato (Oreo and a cherry flavor) - all were excellent, but favorites were the cucumber & lime (very refreshing and they really captured the flavor combination there) and the cherry (really rich flavor with big bites of cherry in there). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and patient with the kids when they couldn't decide. Absolutely an easy 5 stars and my new favorite ice cream shop - can't wait to return and try more! read more

Keep in mind that their current TEMPORARY hours are 12PM-9PM Tue, Wed, Thur, Sun 12PM-10PM Fri, Sat CLOSED Mon This place looks newly built/remodeled, super clean and the bathroom is spectacular! They had 9 different gelato flavors which you could get in a cup, pastry puff, a regular cone or a waffle cone (+0.95c). You can get small (1 flavor), regular (1-2 flavors), or large (1-3 flavors). They also have multiple toppings available which are 0.75 each. I got the regular and the flavors I chose were - Biscotti & Espresso in a waffle cone. To be honest, it tasted just like ice cream to me and not gelato (which is not bad, it was very creamy). The gelato is very delicious and they have unique flavors! I definitely recommend! read more

I can't not even describe how much I enjoy their ice cream or I should really say gelato. Gelato: It is so creamy and smooth. It is at a great consistency, and I love that they have topping mixed into some of the flavors. Ever since Talenti and several other stores got rid of my personal favorite hazelnut ice cream I was on the hunt for it. This place has a chocolate hazelnut ice cream. If you like ferrero roche chocolate, you will love the flavors of this gelato. I have also tried the black sesame gelato and it is just like a frozen version of the Asian black sesame soup. So well balanced in flavors and not over the top sweet as some other ice cream shops can sometimes be. However, I did try their Lavender honey, and the lavender wasn't really noticeable. I still like the favors of the gelato but it's more of a honey gelato in my personal view. They also have so many other flavors that are worth trying. Improvement: What I think needs a minor improvement is how they let others know about the flavors. They don't always have all the flavors in store. You can call to see what they have. However, it would be nice to have it listed on the website what the flavor of the day or week are in the store. They provided donut sandwiches at one point, but I haven't seen it come back for the couple of times I have stopped by, and would love to try that one day. Overall: I absolutely love this place even with not knowing the flavor list because then it makes me try a new one. However, knowing a list would be great so that those that might travel far know what to possibly expect, especially if they were trying to get a particular flavor. You can have them hold a pint or quart of the flavor if there is something you want, but you still have to make sure it is in stores. I want to keep seeing what they come up with in terms of flavors and ideas. I think they are very innovative when it comes to the flavors and ideas of their store. I want to throw possible ideas such as a red bean gelato or alcoholic gelato day for adults. I saw they had Guinness flavor but maybe wine? read more

I've come to this place a few times now and it's always stellar... good enough to bribe my boyfriend into walking 30 minutes there. All flavors are great. They keep it interesting by cycling new and seasonal flavors, so you never get bored. The prices are standard for gelato / ice cream and well worth it. The girl helping us was SO nice - she was so informative and let us try some flavors to make a decision. My boyfriend got a small apple cider donut gelato along with a cookie sandwich. I'm kind of on the fence about this. I have been wanting to stop in for quite some time. So I finally did and left feeling indifferent. The gelato was nice and light, So the three stars predominantly are just for that. I felt the service was very candid (my opinion). The personnel who was assisting me seemed as if he wanted the service but not a specific clientele. I say that because instead of saying "first time here? Well I hope you enjoy and come back!" I was met with "did you hear about Blank___ ice cream store in jersey city? You should try that out" after I mentioned I came all the way from Jersey City to the establishment. I don't know. I own multiple businesses and everyone is a dollar sign and a potential repeat customer/client. I personally value every person who chooses me to do business with. I went in earlier today I had some gelato and vanilla ice cream. I absolutely loved it it wasn't too sweet and didn't have a milky taste. Usually whenever I go to most ice cream shops, the ice cream leaves a sort of lingering milky taste. I find it very unpleasant but this place has phenomenal ice cream. Found this hidden gem! Simply incredible gelato like what I had while in Italy. Sourced from great ingredients and real fruit. The gelato here is amazing and literally life changing. I've had gelato in the past and its good but the gelato here is GREAT! I've never seen someone be able to translate flavors so well into a gelato. Usually there are some swirls mixed in to make a flavor but here they somehow manage to create a strong flavor base on its own. I love cannolis, I didnt think you could make it into a frozen dessert, but they did and it was the best of both worlds. The staff is also super friendly. I quickly took that turn and reach Gelato Envy in few minutes. I had coconut and Pistachio. But the coconut was like vanilla. We couldn't tell the difference. Stopped by Gelato Envy last weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the visit. I've been disappointed with tasting other stores' "gelato", or what others claimed was gelato in the past; they tasted like regular ice cream. This is not the case here, Gelato Envy is the real deal! We ended up meeting the owner and had a nice conversation with him, Mike is such a nice guy. He puts a lot of pride and dedication to his craft and you can definitely see and taste it here. Not only is his gelato authentic, its quite delicious as well. My girlfriend got the banana gelato and I got the mango sorbetto. Both were so creamy and flavorful, nothing like any ice cream I've tasted before. In addition, he also let us taste the sweet milk flavor and his version of soft serve. They were also very good. With such friendly service and a great product, you cannot go wrong here. I wish Mike all the best and much success for the future. After leaving the farmers market across the street, I needed to find some place clean. I felt disgusting just being inside that place. This place was just what I needed. I didn't know it was even in the parking lot across the street. I just happened to see a bunch of people outside. They didn't seem to have a huge selection but I think I need to try it on a weekend. They have a larger display case that was empty. I assume it was because I went on a Thursday. My daughter got Apple Jack gelato.. yes the cereal lol and I got the soft gelato. Omg is was amazing. The young man behind the counter let me try several flavors. I didn't want to take to much time trying them, they had a line of people behind me. But the ones I tried were amazing. So so so clean and the gentlemen behind the counter were so helpful and polite. Everyone outside were so friendly and enjoying the chairs that were set up. Such a great place for the community. I wish it were in a better location, the parking lot seems kind of busy and the view of that damn farmers market was not the best atmosphere. But several people said I should come back at night. They have lights in the trees above the chairs they have set up. Can't wait to try it again...you can kiss the bikini season goodbye read more

As an "artisan" ice cream spot I was excited to try it out. Unfortunately I found the gelato here to be average - not very rich in flavor and too sweet. I hope they will take some cues from Amorino in NYC, or even better, Rococo Ice Cream in Kennebunk Port to make at least a few of the flavors rich and flavorful with a hint of sweetness. They should highlight those flavors so folks know what to order for their taste. Wish them the best of luck and lots of improvement. I would love to have a true first artisan ice cream/gelato spot in the area!
