Some context regarding my dilemma: I had just built a PC which was working flawlessly. I was able…read moreto play my intended game perfectly fine with no issues. Then, while gaming, my game crashed and the computer stopped responding, prompting me to force shutdown the computer. Post crash, the game was underperforming. I tried everything software-related, from verifying the integrity of the game files to clean reinstalling Windows (three separate times, mind you), but to no avail. At this point,  I'm thinking it must be hardware related, hence why I took it to the repair shop. I explained my situation to the repair shop and they took it from there. After some time, they contacted me saying that the both the graphics card and SSD (due to being at "65% health") are responsible for the horrendous performance. I went ahead and replaced said components, only to be greeted with the same horrible performance post-crash. So, I called the repair shop and they responded by saying I only "partially followed" their advice as they recommended I get a RTX 5070 instead of the RX 9070 I originally had; their argument was that the RTX 5070 is the superior card of the two and didn't have as many driver issues as AMD cards. According to them, had I gotten an RTX 5070, the PC would have been running perfectly fine like its former self. But that didn't make any sense as the PC was running fine with an RX 9070 before the crash. When I brought this point up, they started talking about how there could be problems with PCIE bifurcation, something that didn't make sense at all in explaining my horrible performance.  I decided to take it to another repair shop. The repair guy over there suspected it was the motherboard. I replaced the motherboard and lo and behold, the PC was running perfectly fine, WITH the RX 9070 card that Quick Teks claimed should have been switched out for an RTX 5070 due to "PCIE bifurcation issues." I later called Quick Teks about this and they were still adamant about the situation, stating that they had mentioned PCIE bifurcation being a potential problem in their diagnosis (which isn't true as they mentioned the PCIE issues AFTER I replaced the parts and called them about the PC still having horrible performance; never was it mentioned in their diagnosis). To top it all off, Quick Teks abruptly hung up on me and sent me a text saying, "Thank you for your business. But i'm well aware of what was wrong, and what was stated previously." Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable service.

My brand new MacBook crashed and died and Apple couldn't do anything to retrieve my documents or fix the problem in a timely manner. Of course, I was on a deadline and in the middle of contract negotiations that were to be finalized that Friday. I was feeling panicked. I decided to take my computer to Fuse, a company that I have relied on for years. I had called ahead and Dan was waiting for me to arrive. He stopped what he was doing and started working immediately on my MacBook even staying with my after everyone left to go home. He was so personable and conversational and his friendly, calm demeanor was exactly what I needed. He continued to work first thing the next morning and was very communicative throughout the process. He was able to help me resolve the issue and I will be forever grateful. His expert knowledge, speed, sense of urgency and ability to dissect technical issues and create solutions was exceptional. Thank you, Dan and Fuse Technology for never letting me down! Meghan

Things have changed a lot in the last 7 years, though, and I was just stumped. I always like giving my business to local places, and I liked that they had the word speedy in the name. Sure enough, they got back to me quickly...to say that there was damage to the motherboard. Oops... I guess I'm not the computer expert I thought I was. I figured this was going to be where they try to sell me an expensive motherboard, but I was told it would be cheaper if I ordered my own. While I didn't enjoy having to spend the extra money, I still had a smile when I realized that my computer was in good hands. Once I got them the new motherboard, they basically had to build an entire computer from scratch, because everything connects to motherboard. But, they cut me a deal with the price. It would have been a couple hundred dollars more if I handed them the parts and ask them to build it. Everything works beautifully now. And, I enjoy talking about geeky old-school computer things with the people there. While I don't like to admit that I can't handle things, I know where to go if I have any issue with a computer.

I brought in my custom built computer to Flyball because there was no sound or video being outputted. After days of attempting to troubleshoot myself, I finally took my computer to Flybal when I noticed their sign for "$35 Quick Fix solution for any repair 30 minutes or less". My original visit the technician took some time to give a basic overview of my issue. I came in when they were about to close, so I told him I can just leave it so they can close up. I stated that I was initially inquiring about their "$35 quick fix" and do not want to be charge anymore than $50. The day in the morning I got a phone call from another technician stating that my computer is fixed. It was a simple fix of plugging in the 4 PIN PSU connector that I forgot and that it is booting up. Prior to noticing the 4 PIN PSU, the technician removed the video card, "tested" the ram, and tested the power supply that took well over a half hour as stated which disqualified the "Quick Fix" deal. The work/labor quoted by the technician was over 30 minutes and I was charged the minimum of the $50 which was what maximum of what I wanted to pay. Again I want to state when I first brought in my computer I was interested in the quick fix solution for $35 that they had advertised on their website and window, but would have been charged $65 for connecting a 4 PIN PSU connector if it wasn't for my verbal agreement prior to leaving my system. I was a bit confused at first when I was quoted the $50 price for reconnecting a 4 PIN PSU connector, but I emailed the technician and was given the information I posted above. I came to a better understanding on why the cost was what it was, after I contested and wanted to write to honest review to help a local business out. Support local businesses and feel free to let them know what kind of budget you are working with. If you have any discrepancies, don't hesitate to talk to someone. Their customer service is pretty good, and they are understanding but most importantly they fixed the problem.
