Mr Sparky came out, replaced the one beeping, no charge. Now they say I have to pay to replace the defective ones because the warranty ran out one month ago! I argued that they put in defective ones, why didn't they replace them all at once instead of letting my warranty expire? No, they only replace them when the battery goes out. These type of smoke detectors don't have a 9-volt that can be replaced. Supervisor John Whitfield, Customer Value Manager at Mister Sparky got snappy with me so I called the police. His worker walked out and drove away without replacing anything. So, this company doesn't care about pleasing customers, just ripping them off. Be careful of wolves in sheep's clothing. After realizing how lucky we were everything around the box was metal and brick, I did a quick Google search for electricians near me and found Jayson with Higher Power Electric. I called him (on a Saturday morning) and he was at our house before lunchtime. He not only replaced the outlet, wiring and box, but he was able to diagnose the initial problem with the first installation, fixed that issue and explained it to me in a way that my non-electrical brain understood what happened. Jayson was professional, respectful, a great communicator and reasonably priced. There was no way we were staying in that house all night with my 11 month old baby and dogs. I was either getting us all a hotel room, or with any luck, track down an HVAC company in short notice. I called 10 different companies (all highly rated on yelp) and left detailed voicemails. Kevin, the owner of TX Star Srvs, was the ONLY company to return my call. Not only did he return my call, he did so within 25 minutes of my call, and arrived at my house 30 minutes after that. TALK ABOUT A+ AFTER-HOURS SERVICE! He was very pleasant, professional, and understanding of my plight, having kids himself, he knew that there would be no way a baby could sleep in our house that night. In ~45 minutes, he had the problem diagnosed, FIXED, and the AC blasting again. I knew that I would have to pay extra for the after-hours emergency AC house-visit, but I think it was a fair price at the end of it, and definitely worth every penny. I highly recommend this company! (side note... my bro-in-law is also in HVAC, he agreed that Kevin charged a fair price.)

Without hesitation, I called Texas Star Services, I had to wait a few days, but when he came , He. Examining my unit, took care of it, immediately. He also changed my filter, cleaned my unit $ added some Freon. He was pleasant, knew what he was doing & was not looking to clean me out financially. Phillip took the time to actually diagnose the problem. Within minutes of looking around, he spotted a painted-over access cover near the area where I'd had rodent issues. Sure enough, there was a hidden (and improperly installed) connection with loose wires - no junction box at all! He carefully uncovered it, repaired the connections the right way, and restored power using my original floodlight. He was professional, knowledgeable, and fair. He solved a problem others ignored and charged a very reasonable $165. I'd absolutely hire him again and recommend him to anyone who needs an honest, skilled electrician who actually thinks things through.

Told me in this area (Trophy Club), I wouldn't need a 20k+ generator like everybody is trying to push but told me if I wanted one he could install. Directed me to a duromax xp13000 trifuel because I wanted a natural gas hookup. Cory setup the plumber (for the gas hookup), came and did the electrical connection after I bought the generator directly. Generator had an issue (not related to Cory or plumber so had to send it back which was a pain). Let me tell you Cory was there every step of the process and followed up with me during the return and getting a new one. The new one arrived and works like a charm! He walks through the step by step process of hookup should power go out. Saves me well over 17k with this setup!! Next time we get a power outage up here we will have electricity! Thank goodness it's not like Houston where the power goes out for weeks! Highly recommend Cory and his company!

Caution on using Carroll Service - what was communicated and what happened are two completely…read moredifferent things: I called Gabe Carroll on a Friday after seeing his Yelp reviews, looking for a quote on electrical work at a rental property -- we have renters moving in and wanted to make sure everything was up to code and safe. Gabe said he could come out that Monday to provide a quote, and mentioned I'd get a message from an automated system but told me to ignore it, so I did. Monday morning, one of his workers arrived before Gabe and began pulling out switches and other items before any quote had been given or fees discussed. My son was the only one home at the time. Gabe arrived shortly after to assess the work needed, then called me to walk through what he'd found and said I'd have a quote to review within a few minutes. When the quote arrived, it included a $149 service fee and a $159 diagnostic fee in addition to the repair estimate -- none of which had been mentioned to me beforehand. When I questioned this, Gabe said I had agreed to the fees via the automated message -- the same message he'd told me to ignore, and which I never opened. He sent a screenshot of a calendar entry with a checkmark as "proof" of my agreement. I had gotten quotes from other electricians at no cost, which is what I expected here too, so I could compare pricing fairly before committing to work. When I pushed back on the fees, Gabe became confrontational: he called the police (who, after speaking with him, apologized for the call and left), threatened to send my account to collections, and contacted city code enforcement about violations he'd found. I'm now working directly with the inspector on those items, which is exactly the kind of oversight I wanted a professional's help with in the first place. When I mentioned I'd be leaving a review, Gabe said he'd sue me for slander. My advice: get any fees confirmed in writing before agreeing to a "quote" visit, and consider getting quotes elsewhere -- several other local electricians will do this at no charge and not be so hostile in the interactions.

I mentioned I thought 4-5 outlets needed repair, and was quoted $400. When the electrician came, the outlets were functional, my tenant just didn't know they were tied to light switches. He spent 25 minutes on-site and only did light wiring on two outlets, but still charged $350 because "that's what was quoted." No materials used, just labor. He did give a $50 discount, but $350 for 25 minutes is the most I've ever paid for basic electrical work. When I pushed back, he said "Google placement is expensive." If you use this company, insist on a basic service call first. Don't agree to pricing until someone actually sees the problem.
