This is great fish place - very tasty fried cod - However, I do not recommend the cole slaw - it is just average and it costs $3.25 - but for that price, they give you 1/3 cup in a small plastic container like you get the tarter sauce in. Way over priced. They also charge the same for french fries, but have a good service of french fries. Other than the cole slaw, their food is very good. They have an open kitchen so you can watch them prepare your food, which is cool. Small inside dining and on a cooler day you may end up sharing a table with other diners. No big deal. Wow! We are in love with this place and so happy it is close by. Being a clean freak I checked out the place and it is very clean. Even the condiment containers are spotless. The clam chowder was hot, flavorful and yes, clams in every bite. I had 1/2 order cod meal with fries. Large quantity and so fresh. Fries are thick cut. Staff was extremely friendly and quickly filled our order. We arrived at noon on Sunday and noticed a steady stream of take out orders. Large outdoor patio which would accommodate a large group. The batter on the seafood is really good and it's not too greasy (although the smaller pieces of seafood like scallops will have more batter to meat ratio and therefore more grease). Holy buckets!!! We've been told by friends that we needed to head here and try their food and I am SO glad we did! The staff is awesome, super friendly and helpful. Being our first time we needed a short explanation of the options and he had no problem answering our questions. While we were eating they checked on us a couple times to make sure we were doing ok and didn't need anything. Based solely on their friendliness, I would come back. The food though... oh my goodness. I have a way of rating food and my top rating is when I consider something "craveable." This was way craveable. In fact it's probably good that their closest location is not down the street because I'd probably go back tomorrow. I had the cod half meal with chips. The cod was crazy fresh and cooked perfectly, the batter was crispy and crunchy, the chips were tasty, and the portion was huge! My husband has the prawns full meal. They were equally tasty! We were treated to a taste of their curry sauce... I actually contemplated buying a pint of it to throw in the freezer. I'm fairly certain that I will dream about it tonight. I love that you can see the chef hand dipping the food and frying it up, and speaking about friendly, he's second to none!!! The restaurant itself is delightful, great outside patio area, bocce ball court, sand box for the kids, and tons of space to eat, drink, and have fun. The food is excellent, no doubt about it, and the staff is quite friendly. We ordered the cod (with chips/fries - very similar to Red Robin's), and a cup of clam chowder. While the chowder was above average, the cod was truly among the best I've ever had the pleasure of eating! It was flaky, tender (not rubbery/chewy) and cooked perfectly; as fresh as one could possibly expect in Colorado. The batter isn't overly thick (usually a sign of trying to hide bad fish) or greasy either, and the subtle flavor is nicely complimented by a squeeze of lemon and some malt vinegar. If you like fish and chips and you don't try this place...well...something's fishy! Now to the critiques, because there are a couple, but not enough to downgrade them a star. First, it took quite awhile to get our food around 5pm on a non-busy Saturday. You order and pay quick-serve style and receive a number for your food, delivered by a runner. When we arrived, the place was about half-full and - for our standard order of cod and chips - it took a little over 20 minutes to receive. This may have been an isolated incident or will get fixed as they're likely still working out the kinks, but you might want to be prepared to wait a little bit (perhaps not a good choice if you're in a hurry), especially if they're busy. The good part is that your patience will be rewarded with stellar food. My final minor quibble - which they said they're working on - is that all beer is currently served in bottles. I had a Lagunitas IPA and while a good pairing with my cod, it could have been so much better on tap. Again, a minor thing to some, but if you're a beer geek, it was good to hear they agree and plan to add taps soon. In summary, this place is absolutely a winner and so worthy of a visit if you enjoy any kind of battered, fried seafood (the menu also features scallops, squid and more). read more

We stumbled upon this place, thanks to Yelp, on our way to a concert in Broomfield, and fell in love! It is totally our kind of place! Super cute and simple, with multiple fish and seafood choices and a full (if not close to full) bar! First time here and I liked the atmosphere. I am not a big fan of fish and chips but the reviews brought me in. I'm not glad they did because I'm now a fan. I got the combo that has a little bit of everything. I have to say there was not one thing I didn't enjoy. It was great and the chips come unsalted which should be a standard they were tasty. Everything fried perfectly. The tarter sauce which I normally don't use is fantastic as well. I love the outdoor seating and arrangement. Love this place! Hands down the best fish and chips in Denver. I couldn't be happier they came to arvada! The chowder is awesome, and their fish is always so fresh. I love their homemade tartar sauce too. My favorite thing (when it's available) are the halibut fish and chips. This place is also super kid friendly. The only reason I'm not giving it 5/5 is because some of the non fish and chips items on the menu are kind of lacking. The clam chowder was a bit bland and the other English specialties on the menu are just average. I've also tried the fried squid and chips and was not impressed. The space is pretty small, so it can get tight in colder months. This place really shines in spring/summer when you can eat outside. They have a great space and allow dogs, which is a huge plus. And normally I find all chips just "meh". But these were super tasty. The Arvada location is small and almost always busy, so bring your patience and your appetite when you come. I had the half order cod meal and it was more than enough. BF had the 1/2 combo platter and dug it for the most part. The scallops weren't really his favorite, but he said the fish and squid were both delicious. I added a cup of clam chowder, but would probably skip that next time. I'm just about the fish n' chips. I travelled around Denver looking for the best fish and chips in town and think that it is the cod ad GBs. The price for a plate with 3 pieces, steak fries, and a drink it's $12.15. It's totally worth it. I love the flow of these restaurants as well. The community tables are the best because you can sit by yourself or meet new friends.
